This chapter examines issues in intercultural communication in regard to the use of English as a global language in the workplace of the 21st century. The findings that emerged from data gathered in two multinational companies inform discussion about the sort of communication skills that workers will require in the global workplace. A case study with an Australian undergraduate class served to examine whether the skills identified in multinational workplaces are, in fact, being developed in graduates. Based on all the above, the author has developed a four dimensional model comprising the intercultural communication skills that future graduates, including engineers and IT professionals, will require for global workplaces. Some strategies that will facilitate the development of such skills are also discussed.

Artist–academic collaborations are fuelled by increasing institutional pressures to show the impact of academic research. This article departs from the celebratory accounts of collaborative work and pragmatic toolkits for successful partnerships, which are dominant in existing scholarship, arguing for the need to critically interrogate the structural conditions under which collaborations take place. Based on a reflexive case study of a project developed in the context of Tate Exchange, one of the UK’s highest-profile platforms for knowledge exchange, we reveal three sets of (unequal) pressures, which mark artist–academic collaborations in the contemporary neoliberal academy: asymmetric funding and remuneration structures; uneven pressures of audit cultures; acceleration and temporal asymmetries. Innovations at the level of individual projects or partners can only mitigate the negative effects to a limited extent. Instead this article offers a systemic critique of the political economy of artist–academic collaborations and shifts the research agenda to developing a collective response.

The purpose of this study is to explore the effect on the development of participant students through Global Service-Learning (GS-L) as global citizens in this diverse world. In multi-cultural and multi-racial contries people has good ways to live in harmony with others different. In Korea, they live in unity with one rational background and with the only one language. The GS-L in Malaysia allowed nine Korean students to have more involved in Malaysian real lives through homestay and cultural exchange program. This cultural exchange program contributed to the better global citizenship education which is considered very important in this global village, adding another exotic nutrient to Korean substantial culture. The experiences in Malaysia enable students to find ways to solve various problems and conflicts with differences as Korea is becoming more and more multi-cultural society.
