AbstractTo estimate the production of Spanish mackerel (Scomberomorus brasiliensis) and its by-catch were accompanied by a landing craft fleet serreira component that acts along the coast of Maranhão and is based in the Raposa. The control landings characterized the composition and abundance of fish in the period January 2009 to December 2010, a total of 17 landings. A total of 27 species belonging to 16 families and eight orders were recorded in the landings. A total of 27 species belonging to 16 families and 8 orders were recorded in the landings. Regarding weight, the family Scombridae surpassed the others, representing 50.02% of the biomass, then the Sciaenidae (21.60%) andCarangidae (11.13%). Six species account for approximately 81% of total landings, most abundant being Scomberomorus brasiliensis, Cynoscion microlepidotus and Sarda sarda. Of the species caught, 74.07% were classified as accidental, the species accessory did not exceed 14.81%, while the constants were represented in less than 11.11% of the landings. The estimated average yield of the fisheries in the region was 361 kg / hour.

For the purification of the abnormal prothrombin (Pt Metz), advantage has been taken of the existence in the family of three siblings who, being double heterozygotes for Pt Metz and a hypoprothrombinemia, have no normal Pt. Purification procedures included barium citrate adsorption and chromatography on DEAE Sephadex as for normal Pt. As opposed to some other variants (Pt Barcelona and Madrid), Pt Metz elutes as a single symetrical peak. By SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, this material is homogeneous and appears to have the same molecular weight as normal Pt. Comigration of normal and abnormal Pt in the absence of SDS, shows a double band suggesting an abnormal charge for the variant. Pt Metz exhibits an identity reaction with the control by double immunodiffusion. Upon activation by factor Xa, Pt Metz can generate amydolytic activity on Bz-Phe-Val-Arg-pNa (S2160), but only a very low clotting activity. Clear abnormalities are observed in the cleavage pattern of Pt Metz when monitored by SDS gel electrophoresis. The main feature are the accumulation of prethrombin l (Pl) and the appearance of abnormal intermediates migrating faster than Pl.

Abstract Epilobium belongs to the family Onagraceae, which consists of approximately 200 species distributed worldwide, and some species have been used as medicinal plants. Epilobium nankotaizanense is an endemic and endangered herb that grows in the high mountains in Taiwan at an elevation of more than 3300 m. Alpine herbs are severely threatened by climate change, which leads to a reduction in their habitats and population sizes. However, only a few studies have addressed genetic diversity and population genetics. In the present study, we developed a new set of microsatellite markers for E. nankotaizanense using high-throughput genome sequencing data. Twenty polymorphic microsatellite markers were developed and tested on 30 individuals collected from three natural populations. These loci were successfully amplified, and polymorphisms were observed in E. nankotaizanense. The number of alleles per locus (A) ranged from 2.000 to 3.000, and the observed (Ho) and expected (He) heterozygosities ranged from 0.000 to 0.929 and from 0.034 to 0.631, respectively. The developed polymorphic microsatellite markers will be useful in future conservation genetic studies of E. nankotaizanense as well as for developing an effective conservation strategy for this species and facilitating germplasm collections and sustainable utilization of other Epilobium species.

The Ni-hard alloys white-cast irons are generally used for high wear work. Among them, those with better impact resistance because of its low carbon content compared to the rest of the family, are studied in this paper. One experimental technique of characterizing the metallic materials is the microstructural study. Several metallographic attacks intended to reveal qualitatively each microconstituent that forms the alloy, as well as the segregation and solidification structure of casting, are studied in this article. The use of color metallography is fundamental in this case to distinguish clearly the microconstituents. The main objective of this paper is to propose a series of attacks that identify each one of the microconstituents present in the alloy that has not been reported up to date.

In this paper, we study the dynamics of the family of rational maps with two parameters $$\begin{eqnarray}f_{a,b}(z)=z^{n}+\frac{a^{2}}{z^{n}-b}+\frac{a^{2}}{b},\end{eqnarray}$$ where $n\geq 2$ and $a,b\in \mathbb{C}^{\ast }$. We give a characterization of the topological properties of the Julia set and the Fatou set of $f_{a,b}$ according to the dynamical behavior of the orbits of the free critical points.

Ascension and Saint Helena Islands are isolated volcanic islands in the South Atlantic Ocean. Records of annelids from the family Amphinomidae, commonly known as fireworms, are rare. Fireworm species recorded in both localities includeEurythoe complanataandHermodice carunculata, which are broadly distributed throughout the Atlantic Ocean. Here we present the characterization of both species from a recent expedition to Ascension and Saint Helena. Morphologically, specimens fromH. carunculatacorrespond to the West Atlantic population, whileE. complanataspecimens were clearly identified based on chaetal type. A genetic analysis, including material from Ascension and Saint Helena Islands, will be necessary to elucidate the genetic connectivity across the Atlantic Ocean.
