Effect of phosphorus and sulphur on yield attributes, yield, nodulation and nutrient uptake of green gram [Vigna radiate (L.) wilczek]

Field experiments were conducted during pre kharif 2010, 2011 and 2012 to study the effects of phosphorus and sulphur on yield parameters, yield, nodulation and nutrient uptake of green gram. The experiment was laid out in a factorial randomized block design with three replications having eight treatment combinations viz. four levels of sulphur (0, 20, 40, and 60 kg ha-1) as factor A and two levels of phosphorous (30 and 60 kg ha-1) as factor B. Experimental results revealed that yield attributing characters and seed yield of green gram were significantly influenced by phosphorus, sulphur and interaction effects of these two factors. Application of higher dose of phosphorus (60 kg ha-1) and increasing levels of sulphur up to 40 kg ha-1proved to be the best in improving the yield attributing characters and seed yield (1.62t ha-1)of green gram. Sulphur applied beyond 40 kg ha-1could not increase the parameters further. Application of sulphur 20 kg ha-1 significantly increased the active nodule no. and nodule dry weight of green gram and there after applied S beyond 20 kg ha-1the mean nodule production reached a more or less plateau pattern and application of lower dose of phosphorus without sulphur drastically reduced the nodule dry weight. Interaction of higher dose of phosphorus and higher dose S found to have a negative impact on yield. Application of varying levels of phosphorus and sulphur significantly improved the nutrient uptake by green gram in a sulphur deficient soil. Sulphur acted synergistically with nitrogen and increased the uptake of other nutrients. Application of 60 kg P205 ha-1 and 40 kg Sha-1 proved to be most economic in green gram with NPV 4.59.

The experiment comprising of four levels of phosphorus, i.e., 0, 20, 40 and 60 kg ha-1 and three levels of sulphur, i.e., 0, 15 and 30 kg ha-1, was conducted during summer of 2015-16 to investigate the interaction effect of phosphorus and sulphur application on nutrients uptake and yield of black gram cv. Uttara. The treatments were laid in randomized block design (Factorial) with three replications. The results revealed utmost concentration and uptake of phosphorus in seed (0.376% and 3.59 kg ha-1) and stover (0.266% and 6.38 kg ha-1) and sulphur in seed (0.397% and 3.79 kg ha-1) and stover (0.134% and 3.21 kg ha-1) with combined application of phosphorus 60 kg and sulphur 30 kg ha-1, indicating synergistic effect of phosphorus and sulphur on nutrient uptake, respectively. The results also revealed that combined application of phosphorus and sulphur showed synergistic effect on seed and stover yield of black gram with increasing levels of phosphorus and sulphur up to highest level as both the nutrients mutually help absorption and utilization by black gram probably due to balanced nutrition. The seed and stover yield were 955.50 and 2398.30 kg ha-1 with combined application of phosphorus 60 kg and sulphur 30 kg ha-1. The yield attributes of black gram viz., plant height, number of pods plant-1 and 100 seeds weight also increased significantly with increasing levels of phosphorus and sulphur up to highest level and the optimum values were recorded with combined application of phosphorus 60 kg and sulphur 30 kg ha-1. However, non-significant response of phosphorus and sulphur application has been observed in case of plant population (m-2).

Increasing the productivity of soybeans in dry land can be done by designing a package of fertilizer technology based on biological materials using indigenous endomycorrhiza and Rhizobium. The application of indigenous endomycorrhizal biofertilizer combined with Rhizobium is expected to be able to improve nitrogen and phosporus uptake so as to increase the productivity of soybeans in dry land. The experiment used two-factor factorial randomized block design. The first factor was dose of endomycorrhizal spores of Glomus that consisted of four levels, namely, treatment without endomycorrhiza inoculation, dose of 50endomycorrhizal spores, dose of 100 endomycorrhizal spores, and dose of 150 endomycorrhizal spores. The second factor was inoculation of Rhizobium inoculum that consisted of two levels, namely, treatment without Rhizobium inoculation and Rhizobium inoculation. The results showed that combination of 50 endomycorrhizal spores with Rhizobium inoculation gave the best effect on the number of effective root nodules per plant, endomycorrhizal infection per plant, nutrient uptake by plant, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, and oven-dry weight of seeds per plant.

Field experiment was conducted at CCS Haryana Agricultural University KrishiVigyan Kendra, Ambala during summer season of 2014 to study the effect of phosphorus levels and varieties on growth, yield parameters, yield, economics and nutrient uptake of greengram. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with two varieties of green gram viz. MH 421 and SML 668 and four phosphorus levels viz. control (no fertilizer), 20, 40 and 60 kg P2O5/ha with 4 replications. Cv.MH421 produced significantly higher seed yield (1158 kg/ha), yield attributing parameters, harvest index, attraction index, net returns (Rs 21001/ha), BC ratio (1.60) and nutrient uptake compared to SML 668 during summer season. Application of 40 kg P2O5/ha registered significantly higher seed yield (1283 kg/ha), yield attributing characters, harvest index, attraction index, net returns (Rs 32351/ha), BC ratio (2.08) and nutrient uptake of green gram compared to control and 20 kg P2O5/ha. However, 40 kg P2O5/ha and 60 kg P2O5/ha were at par with respect to majority of studied.

An investigation entitled as “Correlation for yield and yield contributing traits in soybean [Glycine max (L).Merrill.] was conducted during Kharif 2018 at Instructional Farm, Department of Agriculture Botany, Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agriculture University, Parbhani. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with three replications and seven treatments viz., T1-untreated seeds,T2-Polymer coating, T3-T2+Vitavax, T4-T3+GA3 100ppm, T5-T3+CCC 100ppm, T6-T3+, NAA 50ppm, T7- T3+IAA 50ppm. Seed yield is a complex character and is dependent on number of component characters. Therefore, study of relationship of characters with each other and with seed yield become more important in crop improvement programme. Therefore, it is essential to find out relative contribution of each of the component character with yield. In present study yield and yield contributing character of seed yield was positive and significant correlated with field plant height, number of branches per plant, chlorophyll content, leaf area, germination per cent, moisture per cent, total dry weight, 100 seed weight, oil content, protein content, harvest index and no. of seeds per pod. The results also obtained from this study days to 50 per cent flowering and days to harvest are negative significant to other yield and yield parameter.

To study the effects of cover methods and nitrogen (N) levels on the growth and yield components of tomato Cv. Pear F1, field experiments with a 4x3 factorial design were conducted in the 2019 spring and winter seasons using a randomized complete block design with three replications. The cover methods included four treatments: bare soil (BS), black plastic mulch (BPM), transparent polypropylene row cover (RC), and a combination of BPM and RC (BPMRC) with the RC removed approximately 30 days after transplanting. Nitrogen (N) was applied at three levels (150, 180, and 210 kg N ha-1). Using BPM and RC generally led to an increased air temperature, air humidity, soil moisture, and soil temperature compared to the BS treatment. Higher N rates (180 and 210 kg N ha-1) did not result  in different tomato fruit sizes and fruit weights but positively increased fruit yield and quality (Brix values and fruit dry weight) as compared to the 150 kg N ha-1 addition. The cover methods positively affected the yield components and fruit yield of tomato as well as the fruit characteristics compared to the BS treatment. Using cover materials (BPM and RC) combined with a higher N application significantly increased the yield attributes and fruit yield. The highest fruit yield was achieved under the mulching treatment by black plastic (BPM treatment) combined with a 210 kg N ha-1 application, resulting in 50.90 tons ha-1 in the spring and 58.27 tons ha-1 in the winter.

Background: Maize followed by summer pulses is the emerging cropping system in many places in India. Herbicides are the efficient tools for checking weed infestation and their usage is increasing throughout the globe due to increased labour cost and quick weed control. Some herbicides do not degrade quickly and may remain in the soil for weeks, months or years after application and may inhibit the growth of succeeding crops. Methods: Field experiment was conducted in a randomized block design (RBD) during rabi and summer seasons of 2017-18 and 2018-19 to know the residual effect of different herbicides applied in maize on succeeding greengram. Result: The present study revealed that lower density and dry weight of total weeds and higher yield attributes and yield was recorded with the practice of adopting two hand weedings at 15 and 30 DAS, which was however, at par with atrazine 1.0 kg ha-1 as PE fb one HW at 30 DAS, atrazine 1.0 kg ha-1 as PE fb topramezone 30 g ha-1 as PoE and atrazine 1.0 kg ha-1 as PE fb tembotrione 120 g ha-1 as PoE, without any significant disparity among them. Herbicides applied in maize did not alter statistically the enzyme activity and microbial count in the soil at harvest of succeeding greeengram.

The field experiments were conducted in farmer's field at five locations each of kole lands to study the effect of Magnesium (Mg) on yield and soil and plant nutrient status of rice during 2012-2013 and 2013-2014. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replications. The treatments comprised of different levels of Mg viz; 40, 60, 80, 100, and 120 kg Magnesium sulphate(MgSO4)/ha along with control. Observations on growth characters yield attributes, yield and soil and plant nutrient status were recorded. The results revealed that application of 100 kg MgSO4 / ha recorded the maximum number of panicles/m2 (419.13), number of grains/panicle (109.36), thousand grain weight (28.78 g), grain (9.27 t/ha) and straw yield (9.04 t/ha) of rice. The results of pooled data on plant and soil nutrient status revealed that application of magnesium had a positive effect on nutrient content and availability of nutrients in soil. A significant positive correlation was also noticed between Mg application, yield attributes, yield and nutrient contents. The study concluded that application of 100 kg MgSO4 / ha was found to be optimum for correcting the deficiency in Mg deficient areas of kole lands under below sea level farming.

Abstract. This research aims to determine the effect of broiler manure doses and BiotamaxTM biofertilizers on growth and yield of Chinese cabbage in the Selat Village, Buleleng Regency, Bali from November - December 2018. The randomized block design (RBD) factorial, consisting of two factors was the experimental design used in this research. The first factor is the dose of broiler manure (A), composed of 3 levels, namely control (A0), a dose of 15 tons.ha-1 (A1), and 30 tons.ha-1 (A2). The second factor is the application frequency of biological fertilizers with four levels, namely control (B0) which was administered concurrently for seven days before planting at a dose of 0.09 g.plots-1. B1 with an administrative frequency of 7 and 14 days before and after planting (HST), respectively, with a dose of 0.045 g.plots-1. (B2) with a 3times administrative frequency of 7, 14, and 28 days before, after birth and after each dose of 0.03 g.plots-1 (B3). The results of the study, the frequency of giving BiotaMaxTM biological fertilizer at the same time, provided the heaviest oven-dry weight per crop, which was 9.39 g. The treatment of broiler chicken manure dose of 30 tons.ha-1 (A2), resulted in the best oven-dry weight canopy per plant at 9.26 g. The relationship between the dose of broiler chicken manure with canopy oven-dry weight per plant showed a linear relationship, namely y = 0.0608x + 7.2483 (R2 = 32.53). The best economic weight per hectare is obtained in the provision of 30 tons.ha-1 (A2) broiler manure, weighing 30.10 tons.ha-1. The relationship between the dose of broiler manure and economic weight per hectare shows a linear relationship, y = 0.3247x + 21.699 R² = 59.88%. The frequency of giving BiotaMaxTM biofertilizers at the same time is 7 days before planting at a dose of 0.09 g.plots-1 (B1) gave the heaviest economic weight per hectare, at 28.21 tons.ha-1. The combination of broiler chicken manure dose and the frequency of BiotaMaxTM biofertilizer gave no significant effect (p≥0.05) on the growth and yield of Chinese cabbage.Keywords: broiler manure, biofertilizer frequency, petsaiAbstrak. Penelitian yang bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh dosis pupuk kandang ayam pedaging dan pupuk hayati BiotamaxTM serta interaksinya terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil petsai dilaksanakan di Desa Selat, Kabupaten Buleleng, Bali pada bulan November - Desember 2018. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) faktorial, terdiri atas dua faktor. Faktor pertama adalah dosis pupuk kandang ayam pedaging (A), terdiri atas 3 tingkat, yaitu kontrol (A0), dosis 15 ton.ha-1 (A1), dan 30 ton.ha-1 (A2). Faktor ke dua adalah frekuensi pemberian pupuk hayati dengan empat tingkat, yaitu kontrol (B0), pemberian sekaligus yaitu 7 hari sebelum tanam dengan dosis 0,09 g.petak-1 (B1); frekuensi pemberian 2 kali yaitu 7 hari sebelum tanam dan 14 hari sesudah tanam (hst) dengan dosis setiap pemberian 0,045 g.petak-1 (B2); frekuensi pemberian 3 kali yaitu 7 hari sebelum tanam, 14 hst dan 28 hst dengan dosis setiap pemberian 0,03 g.petak-1(B3). Hasil penelitian, frekuensi pemberian pupuk hayati BiotaMaxTM sekaligus, memberikan berat kering oven tajuk per tanaman terberat, yaitu 9,39 g. Perlakuan dosis pupuk kandang ayam pedaging dosis 30 ton.ha-1 (A2), menghasilkan berat kering oven tajuk per tanaman terbaik yaitu 9,26 g. Hubungan antara dosis pupuk kandang ayam pedaging dengan berat kering oven tajuk per tanaman menunjukan hubungan linier, yaitu y = 0,0608x + 7,2483 (R2=32,53). Berat ekonomis per hektar terbaik didapatkan pada pemberian dosis pupuk kandang ayam pedaging 30 ton.ha-1 (A2), yaitu seberat 30,10 ton.ha-1. Hubungan antara dosis pupuk kandang ayam pedaging dan berat ekonomis per hektar menunjukan hubungan linier, yaitu y = 0,3247x + 21,699 R²=59,88%. Frekuensi pemberian pupuk hayati BiotaMaxTM sekaligus yaitu 7 hari sebelum tanam dengan dosis 0,09 g.petak-1 (B1) memberikan berat ekonomis per hektar terberat, yaitu 28,21 ton.ha-1. This study aims to determine the effect of nitrogen levels, cellulolytic microorganisms and the interaction of both the aerobic decomposition rate of oil palm empty fruit bunches. The research was conducted at Home Compost STIP-AP Medan in April until July 2016. Research used a factorial randomized block design consisting of two factors and three replications. The first factor is the dose of nitrogen consisting of four levels i.e. N0 = without urea, N1 = dose of Nitrogen 2% of the dry weight of TKS which is 40% as much as 48 grams, N2 = dose of Nitrogen 4% of the dry weight of TKS which is 40% as much as 96 grams, N3 = Nitrogen dose of 6% of the dry weight of TKS which is 40% as much as 144 grams. The second factor is the cellulolytic microorganism isolates comprising four levels i.e. M0 = without cellulolytic microorganisms isolates, with isolates MOS M1 = 10 ml, M2 = isolate MOS 20 ml, isolate MOS M3 = 30 ml. From the research the effectiveness of multiple doses of nitrogen and cellulolytic microorganisms (MOS) on the rate of decomposition of oil palm empty fruit bunches can be deduced as follows, namely addition of nitrogen dose was able to reduce levels of C/N was 76.4% of the levels of C/N beginning. The best treatment is contained in N3 treatment. Addition of Microorganisms treatment cellulolytic (MOS) is able to reduce levels of C/N as much as 74.6% of the levels of C/N beginning. The best treatment is contained in M3 treatment. Interaction between giving treatment cellulolytic microorganisms Nitrogen and reducing levels of C/N as much as 79.4%. Interaction best treatment there in treatment N3M3.

The present investigation was conducted using 28 different genotypes (seven parents and their 21 F1s) of maize under organic conditions at the Rain-fed Organic Research Farm, Narayanbag, Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Bundelkhand University, Jhansi (U.P.) India, during kharif 2018 and rabi season 2018-19. In order to determine the general and specific combining ability of parents and the crosses, the growth parameters and yield components were evaluated in a 7×7 diallel fashion in maize in a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications. In this study, the GCA effects suggested that parent P1, P2 and P4 were the most desirable as they possessed high GCA effect for most of the characters. Among F1 crosses, P4 x P3, P3 x P1, P5 x P3 and P7 x P5 having significant positive SCA were found to be desirable for yield and yield attributing characters. The maximum heterotic effects in desirable direction for yield attributes were showed by the cross combinations viz; P1 x P6, P2 x P7, P2 x P5, P1 x P2, P3 x P4, P5 x P7 and P3 x P5. The maximum heterosis was recorded in for Seed yield per plant P5 x P7 (39.32%) which ranged from -14.69 to 49.55.
