Effect of INM on nodulation, yield, quality and available nutrient status in soil after harvest of greengram

A field experiment was carried out at Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) during kharif season of 2013 to study the influence of integrated nutrient management on greengram [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek].Three sources of nutrients viz. inorganic, organic and bio-fertilizers were used in twelve combinations with randomized block design. Among different combinations, significant improvement in number of nodules/plant (80.97), dry weight of nodules (32.89 mg/plant), yield attributes, seed yield (12.34 qt/ha), harvest index (28.32%), nutrient content, available NPK and organic carbon after harvest in soil were recorded with application of nutrients through 75% RDF + 2.5 t/ha vermicompost + rhizobium + Phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB) as compared to other combinations and control, but it was at par with 100% RDF + 2.5 t/ha vermicompost and 100% RDF + rhizobium + PSB.

The field experiments were conducted in farmer's field at five locations each of kole lands to study the effect of Magnesium (Mg) on yield and soil and plant nutrient status of rice during 2012-2013 and 2013-2014. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replications. The treatments comprised of different levels of Mg viz; 40, 60, 80, 100, and 120 kg Magnesium sulphate(MgSO4)/ha along with control. Observations on growth characters yield attributes, yield and soil and plant nutrient status were recorded. The results revealed that application of 100 kg MgSO4 / ha recorded the maximum number of panicles/m2 (419.13), number of grains/panicle (109.36), thousand grain weight (28.78 g), grain (9.27 t/ha) and straw yield (9.04 t/ha) of rice. The results of pooled data on plant and soil nutrient status revealed that application of magnesium had a positive effect on nutrient content and availability of nutrients in soil. A significant positive correlation was also noticed between Mg application, yield attributes, yield and nutrient contents. The study concluded that application of 100 kg MgSO4 / ha was found to be optimum for correcting the deficiency in Mg deficient areas of kole lands under below sea level farming.

Fulfilment of nutrients for plants can be maximized when fertilization, but the application of inorganic fertilizers can cause damage to the soil if the dosage is excessive. The utilization of phosphate solubilizing bacteria is an effort to increase the efficiency of phosphate fertilization that can extract phosphate from an insoluble form that becomes available. This study aimed to obtain a combination of inorganic fertilization doses (SP-36 and NPK) and the application of biological fertilizers that utilize phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB) to increase the population of phosphate solubilizing bacteria and P-available in the soil, as well as corn crop yields. This study used a randomized block design with nine treatments and three replications. The result showed that the application of PSB and inorganic phosphate fertilizer shows a significant effect on the population of PSB, P-available, plant height, stover dry weight, cob weight with husk and cob weight without husk, but didn’t show a significant effect on 100 seeds weight and number of plant leaves. Based on the correlation analysis, the results show a positive correlation between soil chemical properties, P-available, and corn yield.

A field experiment was carried out at Horticulture Research Center of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel University of Agriculture & Technology Meerut, (UP) India during rabi season 2018-19 and 2019-20 respectively with entitled “Effect of different sources of nutrients and mulching on sustainable production of Cauliflower (Brassica oleracea var. botrytis L.) cv. Pusa Ashwani”. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replications and eleven treatments. The results showed that plants treated with integrated application of inorganic fertilizer, Vermicompost, Azotobacter, PSB (Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria), Black mulch (2.5 mm) proved significantly better over the recommended practice 100% RDF (Recommended doses of fertilizer) and control. However, plants treated without organic manures and inorganic fertilizers resulted in significant reduction for various growth, yield and quality parameters. Among the treatments, plants fortified with application of 50% RDF + 15 t/ha Vermicompost + Azotobacter (5 kg/ha) + PSB (5kg/ha) + Black mulch (2.5 mm) was found to better growth, yield and quality for both years.

The Field Experiment was conducted at Field Experimentation Centre, Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, Sam Higginbottom University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Prayagraj (U.P) during the year 2020-2021.The Experiment was laid out in a Randomized Block Design with 13 treatments and 3 replications. The treatments were T0 - Control, T1- Azotobacter @ 3g, T2-Azotobacter @ 5g ,T3- Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria @ 3g, T4-Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria @ 5g, T5- Azospirillum @ 3g, T6-Azospirillum@ 5g,T7- Rhizobium @ 3g, T8-Rhizobium @ 5g , T9- Moringa leaf extract @1%, T10-Moringa leaf  extract @3%, T11- Lantana camera leaf extract @1%, T12-Lantana camera leaf extract @ 3% with a soaking duration of 8 hours. The results showed that seeds primed with T8- Rhizobium @ 5g improved Field emergence percentage, growth, yield and yield attributing traits followed by T7-Rhizobium @ 3g and T4- PSB@ 5g. The least performance was observed in T0-Control when compared with the other treatments.  This it indicated that the process of seed treatment by bio-fertilizers may be the  better option for seed growers to achieve higher seed yield and yield attributes in Pea.

Medicinal coleus is one of the most important medicinal crop in India. It plays an important role in medicinal industries. The demand of tuberous roots are high but the production is low. Therefore, the research was conducted to know the “Effect of Integrated nutrient management on yield of medicinal coleus (Coleus forskohlii Briq.)” at Sirukalathur village, Ariyalur District – Tamilnadu during 2018-2020. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with ten treatments and three replications. The plants are treated by using different combination of organic manures (Fym, neem cake and castor cake) and inorganic fertilizers (NPK) along with bio-fertilizers (Azospirillum and Azotobacter). Among these various treatments the plants treated by T5 (75 % RDF + FYM @ 15 t ha-1 + Castor cake @ 2 t ha-1 + Azotobacter @10 kg ha-1) is influenced the yield attributes of medicinal coleus like, maximum number of tuberous roots plant-1, root length, root girth and fresh and dry weight of tuberous roots ha-1

An investigation was performed during 2018-19 on newly planted red fleshed Dragon fruits spaced at 4mx2m with thirteen treatments viz. T1: Recommended dose of fertilizer (RDF) as 100% inorganic; T2: Farm Yard Manure (FYM) to supply 50% K + 50% RDF; T3: Vermi compost (VC) to supply 50% K + 50% RDF; T4: Neem Cake (NC) to supply 50% K + 50% RDF; T5: Farm Yard Manure (FYM) to supply 50% K + 50% RDF + Azotobacter (AZ) + Phosphate Solubilizing Bacteria (PSB) + Potash Solubilizing Bacteria (KSB); T6: VC to supply 50% K + 50% RDF+AZ+PSB+ KSB; T7: NC to supply 50% K + 50% RDF + AZ + PSB + KSB; T8: FYM to supply 25% K + VC to supply 25% K + 50% RDF + AZ + PSB + KSB; T9: FYM to supply 25% K + NC to supply 25% K + 50% RDF + AZ + PSB + KSB; T10: VC to supply 25% K + NC to supply 25% K+ 50% RDF + AZ +PSB + KSB; T11: FYM to supply 25% K + VC to supply 25% K + NC to supply 25% K + 25% RDF; T12: FYM to supply 25% K + VC to supply 25% K + NC to supply 25% K + 25% RDF + AZ + PSB + KSB; T13: Control (no fertilizer) and four replication per treatments arranged in Randomized Block Design. Results showed that plants at T5 had maximum yield (4.65 kg/vine) with maximum number of fruits per vine (14.67). However, the fruit weight (390.33g) and TSS (12.180 Brix) was found highest in T11 while, T2 had highest ascorbic acid content (21.90 mg/100g fruit weight).

AbstractPhosphorus availability is the major constraint for plant growth in the acid soil ecosystem, due to high fixation by Al and Fe. Microbial fertilizers such as phosphate-solubilizing bacteria (PSB) can increase P availability in soils for root uptake. The objective of the research was to verify the ability of four isolates of PSB isolated from acid soil to solubilize unavailable inorganic phosphate, produce phosphatase, malic acid and indole acetic acid (IAA), as well as increase plant height of maize seedling. The bioassay by growing maize seedling in liquid nutrients has been performed to study the response of seedling to PSB inoculation. The experimental design of bioassay was a randomized block design with five replications. The results showed that the isolates RR 1 and SPR 4 had a relatively high solubilizing index. Moreover, all the PSB isolates had the ability to produce phosphatase and IAA and dissolve P. The performance of PSB-inoculated seedling was better visually and the root length was increased by 66.7–74.5% compared to the control. This result concludes that the species of four isolates needs to be identified by a biomolecular method and formulated as biofertilizers for increasing the maize productivity in the acid soil ecosystem.

Background: Maize followed by summer pulses is the emerging cropping system in many places in India. Herbicides are the efficient tools for checking weed infestation and their usage is increasing throughout the globe due to increased labour cost and quick weed control. Some herbicides do not degrade quickly and may remain in the soil for weeks, months or years after application and may inhibit the growth of succeeding crops. Methods: Field experiment was conducted in a randomized block design (RBD) during rabi and summer seasons of 2017-18 and 2018-19 to know the residual effect of different herbicides applied in maize on succeeding greengram. Result: The present study revealed that lower density and dry weight of total weeds and higher yield attributes and yield was recorded with the practice of adopting two hand weedings at 15 and 30 DAS, which was however, at par with atrazine 1.0 kg ha-1 as PE fb one HW at 30 DAS, atrazine 1.0 kg ha-1 as PE fb topramezone 30 g ha-1 as PoE and atrazine 1.0 kg ha-1 as PE fb tembotrione 120 g ha-1 as PoE, without any significant disparity among them. Herbicides applied in maize did not alter statistically the enzyme activity and microbial count in the soil at harvest of succeeding greeengram.

A field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2015 on silty clay loam soil at MPKV, Rahuri (MS), to study the varying nutrient management levels on productivity and economics of different soybean varieties. The experiment was laid out in factorial randomized block design with 15 combinations of three varieties (KDS-344, JS-9305 and KS-103) and five nutrient management levels ( GRDF, 75% GRDF + 0.5% foliar spray of grade IInd at 30 and 45 DAS, 100% GRDF + 0.5% foliar spray of grade IInd at 30 and 45 DAS, N4: 125% GRDF + 0.5% foliar spray of grade IInd at 30 and 45 DAS and 50:75:30 N, P2O5, K2O kg ha-1 + 5 tons FYM ha-1. The variety KDS-344 and application of nutrient management dose 125% GRDF + 0.5 Grade IInd foliar spray at 30 and 45 DAS recorded significantly the highest growth and yield attributes viz., plant height (cm), number of branches, number root of nodules, number of pod plant-1 and weight of seeds plant-1 (g). The variety KDS-344 recorded highest grain and stover (3.66 and 4.64 t /ha) yield and highest economic indices like cost of cultivation (40,623), net monetary returns (87355) and net returns per rupee invested (3.17). The grain yield (4.34 t/ha) and stover yield (4.53 t/ha) of soybean was significantly higher by application of fertilizer dose of 125% GRDF + 0.5% Grade IInd foliar spray at 30 and 45 DAS than rest of treatments, but it was also at par with 75% GRDF + 0.5 Grade IInd foliar spray at 30 and 45 DAS and 100% GRDF + 0.5% Grade IInd foliar spray at 30 and 45 DAS. Similarly, variety KDS-344 and application of nutrient levels of 75 % GRDF + 0.5 % Grade IInd foliar spray at 30 and 45 DAS recorded the highest net returns (82756) and net returns per rupee invested (3.24) in soybean due to reduce in cost of cultivation (36931) and nutrient losses.

A field experiment was conducted during rabi season of 2011-12 on heavy black soil to study the effect of integrated nutrient management on growth and yield of baby corn. The treatments comprising all possible combinations of five levels of nitrogen (chemical and vermicompost fertilizer) with and without bio-fertilizer (Azotobacter and PSB) were laid out in randomized block design with three replications. These were significantly higher with application of 100% RDN from chemical fertilizer with bio-fertilizer over 100% RDN from vermicompost. The cob and fodder yields significantly differed with different integrated nutrient management treatment. Significantly the higher growth and yield attributes yield and fodder yield were recorded with the application of 100% RDF from chemical fertilizer with bio-fertilizer. Application of 100% RDN from chemical fertilizer with biofertilizer was recorded higher net returns over 100% RDN from vermicompost (Rs. 220775/ha) and BCR (12.54).
