We investigate the interaction between a singular surface and a strong shock in the self-gravitating interstellar gas clouds with the assumption of spherical symmetry. Using the method of the Lie group of transformations, a particular solution of the flow variables and the cooling–heating function for an infinitely strong shock is obtained. This paper explores an application of the singular surface theory in the evolution of an acceleration wave front propagating through an unperturbed medium. We discuss the formation of an acceleration, considering the cases of compression and expansion waves. The influence of the cooling–heating function on a shock formation is explained. Background: Vehicles generally travel on different road conditions, and withstand strong shock and vibration. In order to reduce or isolate the strong shock and vibration, it is necessary to propose and develop a high-performance vehicle suspension system. Objective: This study aims to report a pneumatic artificial muscle bionic kangaroo leg suspension to improve the comfort performance of vehicle suspension system. Methods: In summarizing the existing vehicle suspension systems and analyzing their advantages and disadvantages, this paper introduces a new patent of vehicle suspension system based on the excellent damping and buffering performance of kangaroo leg, A Pneumatic Artificial Muscle Bionic Kangaroo Leg Suspension. According to the biomimetic principle, the pneumatic artificial muscles bionic kangaroo leg suspension with equal bone ratio is constructed on the basis of the kangaroo leg crural index, and two working modes (passive and active modes) are designed for the suspension. Moreover, the working principle of the suspension system is introduced, and the rod system equations for the suspension structure are built up. The characteristic simulation model of this bionic suspension is established in Adams, and the vertical performance is analysed. Results: It is found that the largest deformation happens in the bionic heel spring and the largest angle change occurs in the bionic ankle joint under impulse road excitation, which is similar to the dynamic characteristics of kangaroo leg. Furthermore, the dynamic displacement and the acceleration of the vehicle body are both sharply reduced. Conclusion: The simulation results show that the comfort performance of this bionic suspension is excellent under the impulse road excitation, which indicates the bionic suspension structure is feasible and reasonable to be applied to vehicle suspensions.

Summary COVID-19 is shaping all aspects of life throughout the world. The unexpected number of people who have been infected with and died from coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is evidence that the pandemic has affected families and societies. The strong shock wave that has resulted in the international response has focused more on medical rather than psychosocial interventions. Little has been written or studied about the impact of COVID-19 on families. This article explores the impact of the COVID-19 quarantine on the mental health of families. We conducted 20 in-depth interviews with Jordanian families through snowball sampling. Findings The results show that 20 interviewees described varied and new experiences. Many of the families we interviewed displayed symptoms of mental health problems, including disrupted sleep patterns, changes in eating habits, excessive digital media use, anxiety, depression, excessive smoking, stomach aches, bedwetting among children, and persistent headaches. The study also demonstrated the psychological stress partners felt during the lockdown due to their worries about job security. They also communicated their hope that renewed family commitments might bring more stability to their relationships. During the lockdown, family members spent more time together, and it became harder to conceal any issues from each other. Applications The findings of this research demonstrate a critical need for social workers, and it is hoped that future legislation will include a role for social workers in various fields of crisis. Moreover, social workers should encourage families to ask for intervention to overcome the long-term effects that may result from COVID-19.

Abstract Nearly all illuminating classic hypersonic flow theories address aerodynamic phenomena as a perfect gas in the high-speed range and at the upper limit of continuum gas domain. The hypersonic flow is quantitatively defined by the Mach number independent principle, which is derived from the asymptotes of the Rankine-Hugoniot relationship. However, most hypersonic flows encounter strong shock-wave compressions resulting in a high enthalpy gas environment that always associates with nonequilibrium thermodynamic and quantum chemical-physics phenomena. Under this circumstance, the theoretic linkage between the microscopic particle dynamics and macroscopic thermodynamics properties of gas is lost. When the air mixture is ionized to become an electrically conducting medium, the governing physics now ventures into the regimes of quantum physics and electromagnetics. Therefore, the hypersonic flows are no longer a pure aerodynamics subject but a multidisciplinary science. In order to better understand the realistic hypersonic flows, all pertaining disciplines such as the nonequilibrium chemical kinetics, quantum physics, radiative heat transfer, and electromagnetics need to bring forth.
