This article presents the results of constructing and validating the “Normless anomie index” (NLAI) sociological test, designed to measure the level of anomie among Russian-speaking and Ukrainian-speaking respondents. The theoretical validity of NLAI is based on an understanding of anomie that was proposed and detailed in the works of R. Merton. The content of the index is based on normless indicators presented in the articles of D. Dean, G. McCloskey and J. Shaar, as well as indicators presented in this article. The study is based on data from two surveys (November 2018, N = 600; April 2019, N = 600), which represent the adult population of Ukraine according to such parameters as age, gender, type of settlement and region of residence. For the purpose of empirical validation, the factor structure of the theoretical construct was analyzed (exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis) and construct validity was confirmed based on indicators that describe respondents’ political consciousness and their social well-being (correlation analysis). Three versions of NLAI were tested: 1) based on indicators claiming the existence of norms, as well as based on indicators claiming the opposite (survey conducted in 2018); 2) based on indicators claiming only the absence of norms, with more specific wording (survey conducted in 2019); 3) based on indicators claiming only the absence of norms, with more abstract wording (survey conducted in 2019). A conclusion is made about the higher quality of the second version of NLAI. A classifier of answers to the NLAI indicators is proposed, which allows for categorizing respondents into four groups: anomic (predominance of answers which indicate the absence of norms), ambivalent (there are answers indicating both the absence of norms and their presence), undefined (answers prevail which indicate the absence of a clear position) and non-anomic (prevailing answers indicating the presence of norms).

Abstract Purpose The purpose of the study was to validate the AQoL-8D questionnaire in the adult population of patients referred to an otolaryngology clinic. Methods AQoL-8D was translated into Polish. 463 patients (age18–80 years) with otolaryngological conditions were assessed with the AQoL-8D, SF-6D, and SWLS questionnaires. We investigated the item content-relevance, factor structure by means of Confirmatory Factor Analysis, corrected item-total correlations, Cronbach’s alpha, Pearson correlation of the AQoL-8D scores with results from SF-6D and from the SWLS questionnaires. Finally, ANOVA was used to test the AQoL-8D ability to group the HRQoL of patients in terms of their otolaryngological management type. Results The median score of item content-relevance was 5.0 for all AQoL-8D items. Confirmatory Factor Analysis revealed the following fit indices: Comparative Fit Index = 0.81; Tucker–Lewis Index = 0.80; and Root Mean Square Error of Approximation = 0.07. Cronbach's alpha for AQoL-8D dimensions ranged from 0.48 to 0.79. Mean item-total correlations over all dimensions, super dimensions, and the instrument overall were higher than 0.3. There was a significant Pearson correlation between the results obtained with AQoL-8D and SF-6D (r = 0.68), and with AQoL-8D and SWLS (r = 0.43). A one-way ANOVA showed a significant effect of management type on HRQoL as measured by AQoL-8D [F(4,458) = 6.12, p < 0.001] Conclusion AQoL-8D provides valid and reliable measures of HRQoL in patients undergoing otolaryngological treatment. Because it is a generic questionnaire, it is possible to make general comparisons of otolaryngology outcomes with those from other subspecialties.

Abstract Background Person-centred care is the preferred model for caring for people with dementia. Knowledge of the level of person-centred care is essential for improving the quality of care for patients with dementia. The person-centred care of older people with cognitive impairment in acute care (POPAC) scale is a tool to determine the level of person-centred care. This study aimed to translate and validate the Dutch POPAC scale and evaluate its psychometric properties to enable international comparison of data and outcomes. Methods After double-blinded forward and backward translations, a total of 159 nurses recruited from six hospitals (n=114) and via social media (n=45) completed the POPAC scale. By performing confirmatory factor analysis, construct validity was tested. Cronbach’s alpha scale was utilized to establish internal consistency. Results The confirmatory factor analysis showed that the comparative fit index (0.89) was slightly lower than 0.9. The root mean square error of approximation (0.075, p=0.012, CI 0.057–0.092) and the standardized root mean square residual (0.063) were acceptable, with values less than 0.08. The findings revealed a three-dimensional structure. The factor loadings (0.69–0.77) indicated the items to be strongly associated with their respective factors. The results also indicated that deleting Item 5 improved the Cronbach’s alpha of the instrument as well as of the subscale ‘using cognitive assessments and care interventions’. Instead of deleting this item, we suggest rephrasing it into a positively worded item. Conclusions Our findings suggest that the Dutch POPAC scale is sufficiently valid and reliable and can be utilized for assessing person-centred care in acute care hospitals. The study enables nurses to interpret and compare person-centred care levels in wards and hospital levels nationally and internationally. The results form an important basis for improving the quality of care and nurse-sensitive outcomes, such as preventing complications and hospital stay length.

The Hedonic and Eudaimonic Motives for Activities-Revised scale (HEMA-R) is one of the most extensively used instruments to assess how people pursue well-being. The main aims of the present research were to translate HEMA-R into Chinese and test its construct and predictive validity as well as measurement invariance across gender. In Study 1, we conducted confirmatory factor analysis with data containing 1090 Chinese undergraduates, and replicated the two-factor model which has been found in other studies. Furthermore, the measurement invariance across gender was supported throughout the multi-group confirmatory factor analysis. Study 2 replicated these results and further found the HEMA-R had satisfactory predictive validity in measures of well-being, social support and smartphone addiction. All the findings indicate that the HEMA-R is reliable and valid to measure hedonic and eudaimonic motives, and it could be applied generally across gender in Chinese adults.

<p>We used the samples of six studies to validate the Work Domain Satisfaction Scale (WDSS), a global, five-item and mid-level measure of work domain well-being. English and French versions of the scale were included in the studies to assess the stability of the instrument across these languages. Confirmatory factor analysis yielded a one-factor structure, which was shown invariant across languages and samples. Test-retest reliability of the scale was high, indicating that it measures a stable construct over time. Confirmatory factor analysis also provided evidence that satisfaction with work, measured with the WDSS, is related, but conceptually and empirically distinct from both life satisfaction and job satisfaction. The WDSS was also correlated in predictable ways with affective organizational commitment, a measure of how attached people are to their organizations. Work domain satisfaction also explained a significant amount of variance in affective organizational commitment, beyond job satisfaction. Moreover, the WDSS was positively related to inclusion of work into the self, a psychological variable that reflects the importance of work in the lives of individuals. The results indicate that the WDSS is a reliable, stable, and valid mid-level measure of satisfaction with work as a domain within people’s lives.</p>

This study examines the psychometric properties of the Russian-version of G. Spanier’s Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS). 302 subjects (84 couples) participated in this research and each partner responded individually to the PFB or to both scales. The results of the exploratory factor analysis revealed a three-factor structure of the scale, which was endorsed by the means of confirmatory factor analysis. Three subscales and total score revealed appropriate reliability — internal consistency and split reliability. The construct validity was confirmed by correlations between DAS subscales and other instruments testing theoretically close constructs. External validity was confirmed by correlations between DAS subscales and perfectionism which shows that mentally focusing on one’s imperfections and failures is negatively related to subjective well-being in a marriage.

Resumen El objetivo de la presente investigación es validar una herramienta que permita evaluar la calidad percibida de los programas del voluntariado universitario al contexto deportivo mexicano. Para el análisis de los datos se utilizó el software estadístico SPSS v.22 y el programa LISREL 8.8. Se realizaron los análisis de consistencia interna, análisis factorial exploratorio (AFE) y análisis factorial confirmatorio (AFC) con dos muestras distintas. El instrumento utilizado fue el QVOLSPORT mx, el cual está compuesto por 49 ítems y 6 factores: 1. Organización del voluntariado, 2. Responsables de área, 3. Tareas específicas del área, 4. Logística, 5. Instalación y materiales y 6.Valoración personal. El muestreo fue intencional por conveniencia, los participantes son voluntarios deportivos universitarios de la Universiada Nacional del año 2017 y 2019 de ambos géneros. Se aplicó a una muestra de 778 participantes distribuida en 378 participantes en la Universiada del año 2017, donde 252 fueron hombres y 126 mujeres, mientras que para la Universiada del año 2019 participaron 400, donde 238 son hombres y 162 mujeres, con un rango de edad entre 18 y 31 años (M = 21.18). Los resultados mostraron que el Alfa de Cronbach por factores está por encima de .70; los indicadores de pertinencia fueron adecuados, los 6 factores obtenidos explican el 59.60% de la varianza total. Los índices de ajuste y de error son satisfactorios, CFI = 0.982, NNFI= 0.981 y RMSEA = 0.057, por lo que el modelo ajusta. Se concluye que el instrumento QVOLSPORT mx, presenta propiedades psicométricas adecuadas y atiende a las necesidades del voluntariado deportivo de la comunidad universitaria, posibilitando una mejora continua en los programas de voluntariado deportivo. Se confirma que el instrumento es válido para evaluar la calidad percibida en los programas del voluntariado deportivo universitario al contexto deportivo mexicano. It was applied to a sample of 778 participants distributed in 378 participants in the 2017 Universiade, where 252 were men and 126 women, while for the 2019 Universiade 400 participated, where 238 were men and 162 women, with a range of age between 18 and 31 years (M = 21.18). The results showed that Cronbach's Alpha by factors is above .70; the indicators of relevance were adequate, the 6 factors obtained explain 59.60% of the total variance. The fit and error indices are satisfactory, CFI = 0.982, NNFI = 0.981 and RMSEA = 0.057, so the model fits. It is concluded that the QVOLSPORT mx instrument has adequate psychometric properties and meets the needs of sports volunteering in the university community, enabling continuous improvement in sports volunteering programs. The objective of this study is to measure the level of satisfaction and analyze the factors that affect customer satisfaction using mobile telecommunication services. The authors have built a model to assess customer satisfaction using MobiFone mobile telecommunications services, and test the research hypotheses about the relationship between components of mobile service quality to Customer satisfaction case at MobiFone Quang Binh branch. The study used descriptive statistical analysis, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) with data collected from 800 customers. The research results show that the flexibility, assurance and tangible have a significant influence on customer satisfaction with the quality of services and products. Finally, the article proposes solutions to improve the quality of product services of businesses in Vietnam.

This article describes the Life Project Reflexivity Scale ( LPRS), a questionnaire constructed for use with Italian students to assess the development of reflexivity, which is increasingly vital for personal and professional progress and well-being. The instrument was administered to 502 Italian university students. A three-dimensional version of the scale was identified through exploratory factor analysis and supported by confirmatory factor analysis. Inter-item factor and scale correlations and reliability coefficients were calculated. We concluded that evidence supports the reliability and validity of the LPRS as a useful instrument for measuring life project reflexivity (people’s reflexivity regarding their future career–life–personal projects) in the Italian context. In addition to sound psychometric properties, the LPRS takes little time to administer and can be completed in large group settings with relative ease. More research is needed to more fully assess its validity and its potential for use in other countries.

Recent studies suggest that valuing happiness is negatively associated with well-being. Most of these studies used the Valuing Happiness Scale (Mauss, Tamir, et al., 2011). In the present paper, we examined the factor structure of this scale using data pooled from six independent samples (Ntotal = 938). Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis showed that the Valuing Happiness Scale is not unidimensional and that only one of its three factors correlates negatively with various indicators of well-being, whereas non-significant or positive correlations were found for the other factors. These findings indicate that valuing happiness may not necessarily be bad for one’s well-being, and call for a better definition, theoretical foundation, and operationalization of this construct.
