The Training Needs of the Teachers of Social Studies in the Basic Stage in the Schools of Al-Mazar Al-Janoubi District

This study aimed to identify Covid-19 and its relationship to the application of distance education in teaching social studies curriculum for the upper basic stage from the teachers’ point of view. The study has used the descriptive-analytical approach, where a questionnaire was employed as the study instrument. The population of the study consisted of a random sample from (311) Social studies teachers. The tool was distributed electronically through the use of social media and email to Social studies teachers of upper basic stage in public schools in three governorates, Amman, Salt and Irbid. The results showed that the impact of COVID-19 on teaching social studies curriculum for the upper basic stage was moderate. Furthermore, the level of applying distance education when teaching the social studies curriculum to the upper basic stage from the Teachers’ Point of view was moderate as well. The results also showed that there is a significant relation between COVID-19 and the level of distance education application when teaching the social studies curriculum for the upper basic stage. The current study recommends going beyond the schools' scope and researches higher education from across the entire Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan as a follow-up to this research's findings. Further qualitative research would be needed in the future to accurately assert the level of applying distance education.

The study aimed at finding out the relationship between teaching habits of mind and positive behavior among theteachers of social studies in the lower basic stage in the university district in the capital governorate (Amman). Thesample of this study was composed of (60) teachers, both males and females, who were chosen by the StratifiedRandom Sample method. Descriptive correlation approach was conducted by the researcher in this study to answerthe study questions. The researcher used the following statistical methods: Pearson correlation coefficient, arithmeticmeans, and three-way Anova and Manova (Analysis of variance & multivariate analysis of variance).The study found the following results: The social studies teachers of the lower basic stage have a mean for theteaching habits of mind and positive behavior aspects. And there is an existence of statistically significant positivecorrelation coefficients between the areas of the teaching habits of mind scale and the scale as a whole and the areasof positive behavior scale (positive personal behavior, positive academic behavior) and the scale as a whole. Thestudy also pointed out that there are statistically significant differences attributed to the variable of experience, andfor the benefit of experts who have more than 10 years of experience, and there were statistically significantdifferences in the areas of the teaching habits of mind scale attributed to the gender variable, and for the benefit ofmales in the impulsivity control level, thinking flexibly, creativity, perception, and innovation. As well as there werestatistically significant differences in the teaching habits of mind and the positive behavior scale according to thevariable of experience, and for the benefit of those with more than 10 years of experience. Moreover, there werestatistically significant differences in the areas of positive behavior scale attributed to the gender variable and for thebenefit of males from the study sample.

The study aimed to identify the role of social studies teachers in enhancing the concepts of media education among students of the higher basic stage in Jordan during the Covid- 19 pandemic. The study population consisted of all social studies teachers for the higher basic stage in the capital Amman, Irbid Governorate, and Salt Governorate. The sample consisted of (415) male and female teachers, who were chosen by the random stratified method. The questionnaire was used as a study tool. The results showed that the level of social studies teachers ’enhancement of media education concepts among upper basic stage students in Jordan during the Covid- 19 pandemic was high, with the mean totaling (4.25). The results also indicated that there are no statistically significant differences between the social studies teachers ’response averages to the level of enhancing media education concepts among students of the higher basic stage in Jordan during the Covid- 19 pandemic due to the variables of gender, academic qualification, and number of years of experience. The study recommended the necessity of emphasizing the role of teachers in promoting the concepts of media education among students, increasing their awareness of media issues and how to deal with them, and protecting them from forgery and distortion in light of the media and cultural openness.

This study is an attempt to identify the training needs of social-studies teachers at the intermediate stage in Al-Jouf in light of modern teaching trends. It focuses on the six axes of systemic planning, varied teaching strategies, information and communication technology, innovative enrichment activities in teaching, classroom-management skills, and diverse assessment methods. Its subjects are 60 male teachers and 60 female teachers carefully selected for the application of the final form of the questionnaire. It relies on 9 tables showing the cities and axes of the study, the training needs for each axis, and the analyses of findings. It finally provides a number of suggestions and recommendations for further future field studies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In other words, the present study is a kind of investigation into the training needs of the target teachers with an aim to enhance their professional development in an age characterize by its rabid change and great technological advances.
