This paper analyzed the factors determining participation in irrigation project on agro pastoral household and their perception towards the scheme. The study result depends on cross-sectional data collected from a sample of 144 households of which 72 irrigation users and 72 non-users using a combination of multistage, stratified and random sampling. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and logistic regression to assess factors that affect participation in irrigation. Result revealed that agro pastoralists do have medium to very strong perception towards different aspects of irrigation performance indicator variable. It is observed that among the variables in logistic regression age, sex, income, input use and participation in cooperative organization have affected participation significantly and positively, while, farm experience, distance to the district market, and total livestock unit, affected participation in irrigation significantly and negatively. The study has also substantiated that irrigation in the study area has significant role on income and recommend that it shall be great and rewarding if policy makers, designers, implementers, and any funding agencies with similar interest. Further, capitalize and scale up the project to achieve the development plan and objective.Int. J. Agril. Res. Innov. & Tech. 5 (2): 44-50, December, 2015

A traditional procedure for performance evaluation of systems is to test approaches on one or more case studies. However, it is well known that the investigation of real case studies is a tedious task. Moreover, due to the limited amount of case studies available it is not certain that all aspects of a problem can be covered in such procedure. With increasing computer power an alternative methodology has emerged, that is the investigation of a multitude of virtual case studies by means of a stochastic consideration of the overall performance. Within the frame of this approach we develop here a modular design system (MDS) for water distribution systems (WDSs). With the algorithmic application of such a MDS it is possible to create a variety of different WDSs. As an example of stochastic performance evaluation the impact of pipe breakages on WDSs is estimated applying a pressure driven performance indicator. This performance indicator is evaluated stochastically. Likewise the performance evaluation of a variety of WDSs is also performed stochastically. Cumulative distribution function, histogram and other statistical properties of 2,280×1,000 performance results of the different WDSs are calculated to highlight the applicability of the introduced stochastic approach.

This paper describes the results of a study of the correlation between the performances of wheels for lunar vehicles predicted using the Nepean wheeled vehicle performance model (NWVPM), developed under the auspices of Vehicle Systems Development Corporation, Ottawa, Canada, and the corresponding test data presented in ‘Performance evaluation of wheels for lunar vehicles’, Technical Report M-70-2, prepared for George C. Marshall Space Flight Center, National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), USA, by the US Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station (WES). The NWVPM was originally developed for design and performance evaluation of terrestrial off-road wheeled vehicles. The purpose of this study is to assess the potential of the NWVPM for evaluating wheel candidates for the new generation of extra-terrestrial vehicles. Two versions of a wire-mesh wheel and a hoop-spring wheel, which were considered as candidates for lunar roving vehicles for the NASA Apollo program in the late 1960s, together with a pneumatic wheel were examined in this study. The tractive performances of these wheels and of a 4×4 test vehicle with the pneumatic wheels on air-dry sand were predicted using the NWVPM and compared with the corresponding test data obtained under Earth's gravity and previously documented in the above-named report. While test data on wheel or vehicle performances obtained under Earth's gravity may not necessarily be representative of those on extra-terrestrial bodies, because of the differences in gravity and in environmental conditions, such as atmospheric pressure, it is still a valid approach to use test data obtained under Earth's gravity to evaluate the predictive capability of the NWVPM and its potential applications to predicting wheel or wheeled rover performances on extra-terrestrial bodies. Results of this study show that, using the ratio ( P20/ W) of the drawbar pull to normal load at 20 per cent slip as a performance indicator, there is a reasonable correlation between the predictions and experimental data. This indicates that the NWVPM has the potential as an engineering tool for evaluating wheel candidates for a future generation of extra-terrestrial vehicles, provided that appropriate input data are available.

The current economic situation creates general pressure to increase performance. Any inefficient use of production factors will lead to problems and long-term economic unsustainability in many industries. The effects of the Covid-19 pandemic will also have a negative impact on all sectors of the economy and the faster onset of the fourth industrial revolution. The article, therefore, proposes a new framework for the performance evaluation of the manufacturing industry, which is based on the composite performance indicator. This indicator is obtained by a cross-sectoral comparison of all sub-key performance indicators. Using cluster analysis and analysis of variance, a total of 6 indicators to evaluate performance in the manufacturing industry were selected as statistically significant. The added value of the whole concept is its direct independence on the economic situation, which eliminates short-term economic oscillations that would be reflected in classical methods of performance evaluation otherwise. The results show that some industries are more efficient in the long run due to their effective investments in the capital, which replaces the labour factor and creates room for the realization of relatively higher profits. By contrast, some sectors, despite high investments, do not achieve the desired level of performance – these investments are not efficient or they are complementary to the labour factor, thus denying the principles of Industry 4.0. It thus creates preconditions for increasing dependence on external factors and, at the same time, makes the given sectors in a freely competitive environment economically unsustainable in the long run.

Performance evaluation is the first step of a company in reaching its competitive advantage in the midst of globalization and free market enactment. The result of performance evaluation can be used as strategic formulation and decision making in fixing performance indicator which is considered as poor. From the facts, this research uses the evaluation adopted from PwC, which used to evaluate the performance of a consulting service company in Indonesia named XYZ Ltd. The reason for choosing PwC business model is because it covers all aspects that affect company’s ability to achieve competitive advantage. Moreover, this research uses 5 of 7 aspects of performance measurement offered by PwC business model. Measurement indicators and characteristics based on library research and company’s internal managerial party interviews are made, so that the evaluation process can be interpreted into the formulation of strategic improvement and decisions making. The result of performance measurement is expected to be able to give a new perspective in overall performance evaluations of consulting companies and evaluate company’s ability to win over its competitors, as well as to prove the ability of PwC’s measurement model in evaluating the performance of consulting companies in Indonesia model of performance.
