<italic>Purpose</italic> - The purpose of this paper is to explore the impact of emotional intelligence on psychological well being and further identifying the impact of psychological well being on various dimensions of organisational commitment viz, affective, normative and continuous commitment. <italic>Design/methodology/approach</italic> - Data were collected from 200 employees working in NGOs of west delhi region (Capital of India) on the bases of purposive sampling. Statistical techniques like CFA and SEM were used to analyse the data. Further, reliability and validity tests were also performed. <italic>Findings</italic> - The study suggests that emotional intelligence has a positive and significant impact over psychological well being. Further, psychological well being has a greater impact over affective commitment followed by normative and continuous commitment among employees working in NGOs. <italic>Originality/value</italic> - This work is the first that investigates the individual impact of psychological well being over the three dimensions of organisational commitment. Study also explores the significant impact of emotional intelligence on psychological well being in context of NGOs. <italic>Paper type</italic> - Empirical Paper

The paper discusses the role of emotional intelligence (EI) in the performance and psychological well-being of a person and presents an analysis of international and Russian research on this topic. The results of the Emotional Intelligence Test (EIT), a psychometric method for measuring EI, created by the authors on the basis of the model of EI as an ability of John D. Mayer, Peter Salovey, David R. Caruso and the psycho-evolutionary theory of emotions of Robert Plutchik, are presented. The method was created by analogy with MSCEIT (The Mayer-Salovey-Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test). A total of 1007 people aged 20 to 72 years (487 men and 520 women, average age 35.9) took part in psychometric testing of EIT. The EIT method has demonstrated satisfactory psychometric indicators of reliability and validity.

The psychological well-being of students affects their academic achievement, social relationships and school coexistence and is something that families worry about. This aspect becomes vital when students have atypical development and/or specific needs. Studies on the impact of giftedness on students’ self-concept and self-esteem offer mixed results. Emotional Intelligence (EI) is a key factor for their well-being that must be developed by educational institutions. This study analyzes the relationships between emotional intelligence profiles and both self-concept and self-esteem of identified gifted students between 8 and 18 years of age who study in regular Spanish schools and non-identified peers. A total of 118 identified gifted and 122 non-identified subjects participated in the study. The Self-Concept Scale Form 5 (AF5), the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), and the Trait Meta-Mood Scale-24 (TMMS-24) were administered. Clusters of students were identified on the basis of their scores in the three dimensions of EI. Subsequently, the differences in self-esteem and self-concept according to the student’s emotional intelligence profile were analyzed. The results showed a taxonomy of three-cluster profiles in both groups and the existence of differences between profiles of EI in the self-esteem and self-concept dimensions in gifted students, not so in the non-identified group. The results have important implications for education and health professionals, both for the evaluation and for the introduction of adjusted intervention programs in case of vulnerability.

In the article, the theoretical approaches as to the description of the phenomenon of psychological well-being are analyzed. Besides, the peculiarities of the adaptable intellectual educational systems (AIES) are explored. Also, the possibility of the positive influences of the usage of adaptable intellectual educational systems on the psychological well-being of the individual who strives for education is displayed. In addition, the questions on the further examination with the usage of the information and communication technologies on such topics as mental health and physiological health of a human being as the components of the productive life are raised as well.

AbstractThe effect of the COVID-19 on the physical and mental health of Italian older individuals displaying signs of cognitive deterioration has not been deeply investigated. This longitudinal study examined the impact of COVID-19 lockdown measures on the psychological well-being and motor efficiency of a sample of Italian community-dwellers with and without cognitive decline. Forty-seven participants underwent instrumental gait analysis performed in ecological setting using wearable sensors, and completed a battery of tasks assessing cognitive functioning and psychological well-being, before and after the full lockdown due to the COVID-19 spreading. A series of Multivariate Analyses of Variance (MANOVAs) documented that the superior gait performance of the cognitively healthy participants exhibited before the COVID-19 spread, vanished when they were tested at the end of the lockdown period. Moreover, before the outbreak of the COVID-19, cognitively healthy participants and those with signs of cognitive decline reported similar levels of psychological well-being, whereas, after the lockdown, the former group reported better coping, emotional competencies, and general well-being than the participants displaying signs of cognitive decline. In conclusion, the full COVID-19 outbreak had a significant impact on the mental and motor functioning of older individuals with and without signs of cognitive deterioration living in Italy.
