Papillary cystadenoma is a rare, benign salivary gland neoplasm containing cystic cavities with intraluminal papillary projections. In the head and neck area, it occurs mainly in major and intraoral minor salivary glands, but rarely in the larynx. We report a case of a 67-year-old female with a chief complaint of hoarse voice diagnosed as laryngeal papillary cystadenoma. This paper emphasizes the need to consider papillary cystadenoma as one of differential diagnosis when benign looking lesions are observed in the larynx, where it uncommonly occurs.

Canalicular adenoma is a unique, rare, benign salivary gland neoplasm whose reported prevalence varies in different studies. According to literature, this neoplasm has a marked predilection to occur in the upper lip of elderly women. Histological features are usually distinctive and diagnostic. This neoplasm has good prognosis after conservative surgical management but the propensity of multifocal nature and recurrence of this lesion mandates regular follow-up. This case report illustrates the case of a canalicular adenoma in the palate in a 71-year-old male patient. Here, we discuss the differential diagnosis with a brief review of literature.

AbstractThe presence of melanin pigment and melanocytic markers expression have been rarely reported in salivary gland tumors. Herein, two cases of carcinoma arising in pleomorphic adenoma of the parotid gland and showing diffuse expression of myoepithelial and melanocytic markers are described. The clinical-pathological clues useful in the differential diagnosis with melanoma are discussed. In addition, a review of the pertinent literature is also proposed, discussing the pathologic mechanisms potentially involved in this phenomenon.

AbstractBackground:Hyalinizing clear cell carcinoma is a rare minor salivary gland neoplasm. The treatment of choice is surgical resection with or without post-operative radiotherapy. This tumour often demonstrates a good prognosis.Case report:We report a case of hyalinizing clear cell carcinoma arising in the nasopharynx. A 27-year-old female presented with progressive hearing disturbance and tinnitus. On examination, an expansile mass was observed in her nasopharynx. Biopsy was performed and the pathology results returned as clear cell carcinoma.Results and conclusion:Surgical resection was performed trans-orally accompanied by trans-palatal approach. She has no recurrence during more than two years of follow up.

Polycystic (dysgenetic) disease of the salivary glands is a rare entity that has only recently been described in the literature. The disease is more commonly seen in females and majority of the cases have presented as bilateral parotid gland swellings. This case presenting in a 21-year-old male is the first of this unusual entity involving solely the minor salivary gland on the lower lip. This case report highlights the importance for the clinician to be aware of this differential diagnosis, when treating an innocuous lesion like a mucocele.

ABSTRACT Basal cell adenoma (BCA) is a significantly rare benign salivary gland neoplasm that includes isomorphic basaloid cells. Presence of myoepithelial cell is a characteristic of this tumor. Basal cell adenoma accounts for only 1 to 2% of all salivary gland epithelial tumors.
