<p>This research was aimed to identify shade-tolerant soybean genotypes that was suitable for planting under rubber tree plantation. The research was conducted at three locations of rubber tree plantation in Central and East Lampung where the rubber tree were at age of 3 to 4 years, during dry season of 2011. The materials consisted of 30 soybean genotypes, where 23 lines were shadetolerant, and seven were as check varieties (Pangrango, Burangrang, Malabar, Argomulyo, Grobogan, Ijen, and Tanggamus). Each genotype was planted in plot of 4 m x 2.2 m, plant spacing was 40 cm x 15 cm, two plants /hill. The experiment used a randomized block design, repeated four times. Before planting, dolomite of 1.5 t/ha was applied, and 75 kg Urea / ha + 100 SP36 kg/ha + 100 kg KCl /ha was applied at planting time. Observations were done on flowering date, harvesting date, plant height, number of branches, number of reproductive nodes, number of pods, seed weight per plant and grain yield. The light intensity under the rubber tree canopy was observed every week after the soybean age was 30 days (DAP), at 11:00 to 12:00 pm. The levels of shade made by the rubber tree canopy at three locations were different; at Tulangbalak (East Lampung) and Gunungsari (Central Lampung) ranged between 20% to 40%, at Gunungadi (Central Lampung) between 40% to 60%. Genotypes IBM22-861-2-22-3-1 and AI26-1114-8-28-1-2 yielded consistently well in two locations, in East Lampung (1.40 t/ha and 1.43 t/ha), in Central Lampung (1.19 t/ha and 1.18 t/ha). Genotype IBM22-861-2-22-3-1 and AI26-1114-8-28-1-2 produced the highest average yield out of the three locations, i.e 1.13 t/ha. Genotype IBM22-861-2-22-3-1 and AI26-1114-8-28-1-2 were considered as suitable genotypes for planting under the rubber tree of 3 to 4 years of age.</p>

Research was aimed to evaluate  performance of new genotypes of soybean selected in shaded environment under rubber stands and compare it with superior soybean varieties. Field experiment was arranged in a simple Randomized Block Design. Treatments comprised five levels namely four soybean genotypes selected in artificial shade and one shade tolerant superior soybean variety as a check. Each treatment was replicated 5 times. Experimental unit was a plot with size 3 m x 2 m  with 100 plant population. Ten plants were used as samples. Observations were made on growth and yield variables. Such variables were plant height, number of branches, and stem diameter, while the observed yield variables included number of pod per plant, 100 seed weight, and seed weight of 10 plants. Observed data were analyzed by Analysis of Variance and continued by Duncan Multiple Range Test at α 5% level to compare the tested genotypes. Results showed that all the tested soybean genotypes gave the same performance with superior varieties of Anjasmoro in terms of stem diameter, number of branches, number of pods per plant, weight of 100 seeds, and seed weight of 10 stems of the plant. The difference was seen in of plant height where the selection genotypes were significantly shorter than  Anjasmoro Variety.

This research aims 1) To determine the effect of interaction of different plant spacing and the provision of mulch to growth and yield of tomato plants. 2) To know the different spacing affect the growth and yield of tomato plants. 3) To know the use of mulch type effect on growth and yield of tomato plants. This research was conducted by using Randomized Block Design in Factorial (RAK) with 2 factors, first factor is plant spacing (J) consisting of 3 levels ie 40x30 cm (J1), 40x50 cm (J2), 40x70 cm (J3) . The second factor is mulch (M) consisting of 3 levels ie: without mulch (M0 / control), straw mulch (M1), plastic mulch (M2). The variables observed were plant height, number of branches, number of bunches, number of fruit, and fruit weight. Data were analyzed by using variance analysis (Anova), 5% level. The results showed that: There was no interaction between plant spacing and mulch on growth and yield of tomato plants. Treatment spacing 40x50 (J2) effect on the number of bunches of 35 HST, the weight of the first harvest fruit and total fruit weight. The use of straw mulch type (M1) has an effect on plant height, number of branches, number of 35 HST bunches, and total fruit weight.

<p>Ideal land for growing rubber tree has increasingly limited. Hence farmers and companies were looking for alternative planting of rubber tree in non-conventional areas such as the land of tidal swamps. The study was conducted at Bangun Harjo Village, Air Sugihan Regency, Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI) District, South Sumatera Province, Indonesia from 2005 to 2014. The study was aimed to test the adaptability of six rubber clones in tidal swamps. The design used was a Randomized Block Design with rubber clones as treatment and three replications. Clones planted were IRR 39, IRR 118, IRR 220, PB 260, RRIC 100, dan BPM 24. In each treatment there were 40 rubber trees and 15 rubber trees as samples. The parameters observed were stem girth, bark thickness, and latex yield. The data were statistically analyzed using ANOVA, followed by Duncan Multiple Ranges Test (DMRT) at 5% levels. The results showed that rubber trees in tidal swamps would be able to mature tapping at the age of 60 month after planting (5 years) as long as using the recommended treatment. The growth of stems of each clone at the age of 12-60 month after planting in tidal land have different growth response. However, at the age of 60 BST the highest significant girth growth was IRR 39 (48.66 cm) while the lowest was the BPM 24 (44.17 cm) clone. The average yield per tree per taping (g/t/t) from 1st to 3rd years the highest was IRR 220 (26.23 g/t/t) and the lowest was IRR 39 (15.85 g/t/t). IRR 220 is adapted to tidal swamps.</p><p>Keyword: Adaptability, rubber clones, tidal swamps, growth </p><p> </p><p><strong>Abstrak</strong></p><p>Lahan yang ideal untuk pertumbuhan tanaman karet semakin terbatas sehingga banyak petani dan perusahaan mencari lahan alternatif untuk pengembangan karet di daerah non-konvensional seperti lahan pasang surut. Penelitian dilakukan di Desa Bangun Harjo, Kecamatan Air Sugihan, Kabupaten Ogan Komering Ilir (OKI), Provinsi Sumatera Selatan dari tahun 2005 sampai 2014. Lokasi penelitian merupakan lahan pasang surut tipe luapan C ketinggian 10-15 meter di atas permukaan laut (dpl). Penelitian bertujuan menguji daya adaptasi enam klon karet pada lahan pasang surut. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan klon sebagai perlakuan dan diulang tiga kali. Klon yang diuji adalah IRR 39, IRR 118, IRR 220, PB 260, RRIC 100, dan BPM 24. Dalam setiap perlakuan terdapat 40 tanaman dan 15 tanaman sebagai contoh. Parameter yang diamati adalah lilit batang, tebal kulit, dan hasil lateks. Data dianalisis dengan sidik ragam, jika berbeda nyata diuji lanjut dengan Uji Jarak Berganda Duncan (DMRT) pada taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tanaman karet pada lahan pasang surut dengan pemeliharaan sesuai anjuran mampu matang sadap pada umur 60 bulan setelah tanam (5 tahun). Pertumbuhan lilit batang masing-masing klon pada umur 12-60 bulan setelah tanam di lahan pasang surut memiliki respon pertumbuhan yang berbeda. Namun pada umur 60 bulan setelah tanam pertumbuhan lilit batang tertinggi adalah klon IRR 39 (48,66 cm) sedangkan yang terendah adalah klon BPM 24 (44,17 cm). Rata-rata hasil mulai TM1 sampai TM3 yang tertinggi adalah klon IRR 220 (26,23 g/ pohon/sadap) dan terendah adalah klon IRR 39 (15,85 g/pohon/sadap). The experimental material comprised of forty eight genotypes consisting of five Mori based CMS lines and seven Mori based fertile lines crossed in line x tester mating design. The resultant thirty five hybrids along with their twelve parents and standard check (GDM 4) were evaluated in randomized block design at Castor-Mustard Research Station, Sardarkrushinagar Dantiwada Agricultural University, Sardarkrushinagar during, rabi 2018-2019. The analysis of variance for combining ability revealed that variance due to gca was significant for all the characters except number of seeds per siliqua, seed yield per plant and 1000 seed weight. Whereas, variance due to sca was significant for all the traits. This indicates significant contribution of hybrids for specific combining ability variance component. The ratio of σ2gca/σ2sca below than unity for days to maturity, siliqua length, number of seeds per siliqua, seed yield per plant, 1000 seed weight and oil content which suggested greater role of non-additive gene action in the inheritance of these traits. Among the parents, female SKM 9928 and Kranti were good general combiner for seed yield per plant, total number of branches per plant and total number of siliquae per plant. Whereas, male parent Mori 'R' 1-18 was good general combiner for seed yield per plant, total number of branches per plant and total number of siliquae per plant. Best three hybrids which possessed significant positive SCA effects for seed yield per plant were SKM 301 x SKM 303, SKM 9928 x Pusa Agrani and Kranti x Mori ‘R’ 1-18.

The low area for soybean plantation is still a major problem in meeting soybean needs. One of the efforts to increase national soybean production is by expanding the planting area by utilizing the sandy soil area that is still not used for soybean cultivation. This research was conducted from September-November 2020 in a greenhouse of the Agronomy Laboratory, Bengkulu University. This study aims to obtain the best dose of urea and vermicompost for the growth and yield of soybean in sandy soil. The research design used a completely randomized block design with two factors and 3 replications. The first factor was the dose of urea consisting of four levels, namely U0 = 0 kg ha-1, U1 = 50 kg ha-1, U2 = 100 kg ha-1, and U3 = 150 kg ha-1. The second factor was the dose of vermicompost, namely K0 = 0 ton ha-1, K1 = 5 tons ha-1, K2 = 10 ton ha-1, and K3 = 15 ton ha-1. The measured variables were the plant growth and the yield. Soil and vermicompost analyses were carried out before the study. The results showed that there was an interaction between the vermicompost and the urea dosages. The 100 kg ha-1 urea and the 10 ton ha-1 vermicompost treatment gave the highest plant height. The 150 kg ha-1 urea dan the 15 ton ha-1 vermicompost treatment formed the most number of branches. The highest soybean yield was given by 15 ton ha-1 vermicompost and 50 kg ha-1 urea to the total pod and the seed weight.   Keywords: sandy soil, soybean, urea, vermicompost

Background: Pod shattering has become the major problem in soybean production. The research aims to identify the pod shattering resistance and to assess the agronomic performances of 50 soybean genotypes and the association among agronomic characters. Methods: The research materials were 50 soybean genotypes which consisted of 47 lines derived from routine crossing programs and three check cultivars. The field experiment was arranged in a randomized block design with two replications. The data were observed for yield and its component traits. The oven-dry method was performed in the laboratory to assess the pod shattering resistance. Result: Variation among genotypes was found in the pod shattering resistance and agronomic characters. The genotype by trait biplot graph showed that pod shattering was negatively correlated with the days to maturity and plant height, but positively correlated with the seed size. Soybean genotypes of Grob/G100H-1-588 and G100H/Mhmr-4-993 were resistant to pod shattering and have a high seed weight per plant. These genotypes were potential for further varietal development or could be used as gene sources in the soybean improvement program for pod shattering resistance.

Efforts to increase edamame production and productivity include regulating plant populations and increasing soil fertility. The aim of the study  was to examine the response of edamame soybeans to various spacings and doses of chicken manure. The study aimed to examine the response of edamame soybeans to various spacings and doses of chicken manure. The experiment used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors, namely plant spacing which included: 30cm x 10cm; 30cm x 20cm; 30cm x 30cm, and the dose of chicken manure fertilizer is: 5 tons ha-1; 10 tons ha-1, and 20 tons ha-1. Plant spacing and dose of chicken manure did not significantly affect, but each factor affected the number of branches, as well as the number and fresh weight of edamame pods. Edamame gave the best response at a spacing of 30cm x 20cm and a dose of chicken manure 15 tons ha-1. Edamame productivity from this study was only able to meet 48 – 50% of the productivity target for exports.

This research was conducted in Beringin Raya Sungai Hitam Village, Muara Bangkahulu Subdistrict, Bengkulu City from January to April 2016.  The research aims to compare the growth and yield of 9 lines of soybean expectation with 2 varieties of comparison (Tanggamus and Demas 1) on sandy land. The design used in this study was Completely Randomized Block Design (RAKL) using a single treatment factor of 11 soybean genotypes consisting of 9 lines of expectation (G4AB, G2BB, G1DB, 13 ED, 14 DD, 19 BE, 25 EC, G511H / Anj-2-10, and G511H / Anj-1-3) and 2 varieties of comparison (Tanggamus and Demas 1), each treatment was repeated four times to obtain 44 experimental units. Variables that significantly affect the F test at 5% level, followed by cluster analysis of Scott-Knott at 5% level. Of the 9 lines of expectation tested only 13 ED lines, 14 DD, and 25 EC had a number of comparable books comparable to the comparison varieties (Tanggamus and Demas 1). The comparative varieties had moderate flowering, deep harvest age, highest plant height, number of productive branches and the largest number of fertile books compared to the 9 tested lines. Density 13 ED, 14 DD, 25 EC has a number of pods of content comparable to the comparison varieties. The G511H / Anj-2-10 strain has more number of seeds per pod than the comparable strain / variety tested. The ED 13 line has a seed weight per plot proportional to the comparison varieties (Tanggamus and Demas 1), but is higher than the expected line of test. While the 19 BE strain has a weight of 100 seeds higher than the other strains / varieties tested

The study was conducted between 2015-2017 at Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University, Agriculture Faculty, Field Crops Department, Research and Experimental Area and Atatürk Soil, Water and Agricultural Meteorology Research Institute Research and Experimental Area (Kırklareli) in randomized block design with three replications. Five Hungarian vetch genotypes (cv. Egebeyazı and cv. Sarıefe, 47.1, 47.2, 56.3 lines) were used as material. Plant height (cm), number of branches per plant (pcs), number of pods per plant (pcs), number of seeds per pod (pcs), thousand seed weight (g), seed yield (t ha-1) were determined. The characters which were determined in the study varied between; plant height 76.50-97.97 cm, number of branches per plant 3.87-5.08 pcs, number of pods per plant 17.20-24.35 pcs, number of seeds per pod 3.77-5.47 pcs, thousand seed weight 32.08-39.15 g, seed yield 0.70-1.08 t ha-1. According to seed yield results 56.3 and 47.2 genotypes can be grown for seed in Tekirdağ, Kırklareli and similar ecological conditions.
