The case of Action Research drives a wedge between two opposite views of research methodology: an 'exclusive ' (Platonic/theoretical) one which insists that only objective and quantitative inquiries (as in physics) are genuine scientific research, and an 'inclusive ' (Aristotelian/practical) one that recognizes a need to adapt the research methods of different inquiries to the nature of their problems. The latter approach involves seeing issues of methodology as dependent on half-a-dozen contextual factors, which are crucial to Action Research, yet which the former approach ignores.

This paper is presented as a tribute to prof. Richard Mattessich. It is written “through the eyes” of a researcher who has worked closely with him over a period of 42 years, starting attending his courses of “Income Determination Theory” and “Research Methodology” at the University of British Columbia in 1975. Among his huge scientific research and publications, I intend to underline these three major contributions: (i) Accounting metrics and other mathematical instruments which anticipated computer spreadsheet by 30 years; (ii). The preparation of accountants for information economics by means of analytical methods; and (iii) The proposition of the “onion model of reality” to distinguish different Kind of reality.Este trabajo se presenta como un tributo al profesor Richard Mattessich. The author of the article claims that archaeological research and scientific research were carried out in Central Asia at the beginning of the twentieth century, including in the Zarafshan valley. The article presents material on the directions of development of archaeological science in Uzbekistan on the example of several prominent scientists and specialists who carried out archaeological excavations at the beginning of the twentieth century. It also reveals the origins ofthe formation of archaeological research methodology at the early stages of the formation and development of archeology. The author notes large archaeological expeditions and their achievements during the period under study. However, besides the merits and achievements in scientific theoretical and practical research, errors, lack of personnel, experience, and methods for conducting archaeological excavations and research are shown

Electronic scientific databases (ESDs) such as “ScienceDirect,” “GoogleScholar,” and “Scopus” became popular in the scientific community, because scientific contents and diverse scientific Web services such as scientific communications and collaborations have taken place electronically in the ESDs. In this way, scientific research has evolved accordingly, yielding electronic research (e-Research) process in which scientists initiate their research, drive it, and reach its determined goals electronically. In this chapter, the authors focus on the ESDs’ scientific Web services role in the research process. After representing a classification for the scientific Web services, a comprehensive methodology for the e-Research process is proposed. Also, the effects of scientific Web services on the e-Research process adoption are studied. The findings show that scientific Web services of information storage and sharing, searching, and communications are the most popular and useful Web services in scientific community.

The article deals with the issues of pitfalls in the research of the axiological area, with particular emphasis on the values clarification method. The main purpose of the article is to find the answer to the question: What pitfalls may be avoided by a researcher who deals with the clarification method in order to successfully complete the research process? The text contains short characteristics of the values clarification method and discusses pitfalls waiting for the researcher of the effects of this method. The article notes that in scientific research in the field of education, knowledge of pedagogical research methodology is important, but equally important is the researcher’s pedagogical experience resulting from practice. It may be an asset for the researcher who can then avoid the pitfalls of research. The article makes clear that there is a need to identify these pitfalls, and avoiding them can give proper meaning to research conclusions.

Abstract. At present, the education of Traditional Chinese theatre arts in universities is lacking in both “software” and “hardware”, which is in the dilemma of being marginalized by teaching. There are many common problems in the bottleneck and causes of many kinds of theatre arts in the development of universities education, such as the shortage of teachers, the lack of interest of students, the weakness of scientific research, the poor environment of Traditional Chinese Theatre arts and so on. In view of the above problems, it is suggested to adopt multi-channel strategies to cultivate students' interest, improve the supporting Traditional Chinese Theatre arts curriculum, and optimize the traditional Chinese Theatre arts environment, so as to change the current dilemma of Traditional Chinese Theatre arts in universities.
