In the south-west German village of Hayingen, the playwright-director Martin Schleker presents large open-air productions of politically sensitive yet entertaining plays to mass audiences on an annual basis. This article explores the element of risk in Schleker's work: his use of purely amateur performers; his job-creation schemes for young people; and his left-wing and often anti-Catholic stance on issues such as racism and nuclear arms before often deeply conservative, culturally Catholic audiences. Schleker's work is situated in the wider context of the state-funded, civic theatres in Germany, and of the tradition of open-air ‘Naturtheater’ which is particularly strong in the Swabian region. Some assumptions surrounding such binary divides as amateur-professional and high art-entertainment are also explored. Data for this article was collected in the Hayingen ‘Naturtheater’ during a period of ethnographic research supported by the Leverhulme Trust. Having completed her doctorate at Sheffield University, Alison Phipps has been working as a lecturer in the Department of German – and in particular in the Centre for Intercultural Germanistics – at Glasgow University since October 1995. She has published in the areas of her research interests, which include contemporary German theatre and performance research, Ethnographic approaches to language education, and popular German culture and intercultural studies.

This study was conducted to determine the effect on Profit Distribution Management recorded in Bank Indonesia on financing for profit sharing, transparency and performance. Research conducted using RGEC Method to determine the level of performance in the company and the population of this study is a company listed in the Jakarta Islamic Index of 2012-2016. The results of this study indicate that mudharabah variables have an effect but not significant to PDM, ROA and CAR have significant effect to PDM while musharaka, transparency, FDR, GCG and BOPO have no significant effect to PDM.

At present, the control of the automobile engine exhaust noise is mainly installed exhaust muffler. Muffler design and performance research mainly around the silencing performance and the influence to engine power loss. This article built the 3d modeling of automobile exhaust muffler and through simulation analysis obtained the muffler internal acoustic pressure distribution and changes of insertion loss with frequency. Predict the silencer muffler performance as well as the influence on engine power loss. Provide a reference basis for the design of the silencer and optimization. Compared to the traditional experiment method, the method in this article has the advantages of short cycle, low cost.

Empirical research has found that, despite citizens’ perceptions to the contrary, political parties tend to deliver on their campaign promises. What are the reasons for this mismatch between perceptions and performance? Research to date has paid insufficient attention to the reasons for such a mismatch, neglecting the effects of political predispositions such as party identification and sympathy for the government. This article argues that it is such political predispositions that cause biased perceptions of pledge fulfilment. Bias towards perceiving pledges as unfulfilled is expected to be higher for voters whose political predispositions are more unfavourable to government. The argument is supported by data on Portuguese voters and party manifestos in the 2011 election, contributing to better understanding of the mechanisms of political accountability.

One of the core issues of strategy revolves around the relation between strategy and performance. Research studies analyze whether different performances are associated with different strategic attitudes. Given the importance of this issue, the objective of this paper is to describe and analyze the relation between the corporate profile, the adopted strategy and the performance in international markets of firms in the leather and footwear industry from the State of Rio Grande do Sul. The analysis of the corporate profile identified mature, medium-sized and big firms that engage in planning to guide their actions and that are concerned about monitoring changes in the environment with which they work. In regard to the relation between the corporate profile, the adopted strategy and international performance, an analysis of the correlation showed that the main variables that characterize the specific group are the strategic profile, planning, and monitoring of the business environment. It was found that firms with a high Gross Operating Income engage in planning activities on a less consistent basis, do not monitor their business environment and adopt a defensive strategic attitude.
