Technical analysis was used to analyze the roasting of molybdenum concentrate on the basis of thermal balance test of rotary furnaces used for Roasting, and the results indicate that, on the condition of commercial production, the Roasting of MoS2 can occur spontaneously because the heat of reaction is so much that proper cooling measures should be adopted in case overheating happens. According to above analysis, carbon-free roasting technology of molybdenum concentrate was proposed in this paper. The results, which come from thermal balance test and technical analysis of rotary furnaces used for carbon-free roasting of molybdenum concentrate, indicate that outer heat source used in traditional Roasting technology is not needed in carbon-free roasting technology, because enough heat is generated during Roasting to ensure spontaneous reaction. In fact, heating is not needed in operating process except at the beginning, to make molybdenum concentrate catching fire, and when reaction completing, to remove residual sulphur. The technology in this paper is obviously advantageous in aspects of energy saving, output, quality of production, heat loss, the concentration of SO2 in flue gas, etc. and will have remarkable environmental benefits, economic benefits and social benefits.

Based on the symbiotic and dissemination relationship of a copper-molybdenum ore in Tibet, developed a beneficial flotation flowsheet —first step was copper-molybdenum mixed flotation and then copper-molybdenum were separated. Copper-molybdenum mixed flotation used conventional flotation reagents. Copper-molybdenum separation used new reagent-- HX-1 for copper inhibitor. Experiments show that HX-1 was good to the copper-molybdenum separation. The content of copper was decreased to 0.03% in molybdenum concentrate.

The tribological behavior of PPS filled with molybdenum-concentrate (MC) deposit from Armenia was studied. The deposit MC was a complex mixture of compounds such as MoS2, SO2, CuS, Al2O3, and others. Whereas MC as the filler in particulate form reduced the steady state wear rate of PPS, the optimum reduction in wear was found to occur with the addition of PTFE along with PPS. The behavior of PPS composites made with MC and PTFE sliding against a steel counterface was investigated as a function of the MC and PTFE proportions, sliding speed, and counterface roughness. Of all the above factors, the change in MC proportion, while PTFE was also present, had the greatest effect on the reduction in wear rate. The variation of the coefficient of friction was found to be in the narrow range of 0.27-0.33. The lowest wear rate was found in the case of PPS+ 17vol.%MC+10vol.%PTFE composite sliding at 1.5 m/s against a counterface roughness of 0.1 μm Ra.

This paper determined the total absorbance of phosphorus molybdenum blue and arsenic molybdenum blue by using the additive property of their absorbance values. By eliminating the interference of arsenic by reduction masking with composite reducing agent Na2SO3-Na2S2O3-KBr, the absorbance of phosphorus could be obtained. Thus, the content of phosphorus and arsenic could be calculated, respectively. The results show that the work curves of this method for phosphorus and arsenic are consistent with Beer’s law when the content of phosphorus and arsenic is 0-0.60ug/mL and 0-2.00ug/mL, respectively. The standard addition recovery rate of phosphorus and arsenic is 98.80%-101.04% and 99.00%-101.50%, respectively. The relative standard deviation of phosphorus and arsenic is less than 4.0% with good accuracy and precision. This method is simple and fast to determine phosphorus and arsenic in molybdenum concentrate, and the results are accurate and reliable.

The flotation process of molybdenum ore from Liaoning in China with a new collector DMC is investigated. The results show that the collector DMC has stronger collecting power and better selectivity for molybdenite. Compared with traditional kerosene and xanthate flotation, this process using the new collector could have a good index with 60% sodium silicate. The closed-circuit test results are as follows:the molybdenum concentrate of 53.04% with the molybdenum recovery of 95.02% is obtained.
