Gingival squamous cell carcinoma (GSCC) is a relatively rare malignant neoplasm of the oral cavity. It represents less than 4-6.3% of diagnosed intraoral carcinomas. GSCC may cause odontogenic symptoms such as mobility and pain of teeth mimicking inflammatory conditions such as periodontitis. Early diagnosis and prompt management of GSCC is of paramount importance as the prognosis of gingival squamous cell carcinoma is mainly dependent on these factors. Further, as, GSCCs spread rapidly to involve the underlying bone, the role of dentists in early detection of gingival squamous cell carcinoma cannot be undermined. The present report describes a rare case of GSCC in a 31 year old male. The detailed recording of the case history and clinical examination, radiographic, and laboratory investigations, along with review of similar conditions led to the diagnosis, and treatment was initiated.

Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) is one of the most common epithelial malignancies affecting the oral cavity with different clinical presentations. Carcinomas of the gingiva constitute approximately 10% of OSCCs and can mimic reactive, inflammatory conditions of the gingiva, leading to a diagnostic delay. Therefore it is of great importance to diagnose the lesion early for good prognosis. This article reports a rare case of gingival OSCC in a 39-year-old male patient mimicking an inflammatory gingival mass.

Gingival Squamous cell carcinoma (GSCC) in maxilla is a rare malignant neoplasm especially when compared with mandible. The most common sites of oral carcinoma are being the lateral border of the tongue and the floor of the mouth which is followed by palate, buccal mucosa and rarely in gingiva. The clinical picture of oral carcinoma can be misguided for gingival overgrowth, desquamative lesions, traumatic ulcers or even pyogenic granuloma. Maxillary oral gingival carcinoma is a rare entity especially in a non-smoker. In this case report, a 70-year-old male patient presented with a gingival lesion in maxilla 24,25 region mimicking pyogenic granuloma without having a tobacco history. A thorough clinical, radiographical and histopathological examination was done and led to the diagnosis of GSCC and the treatment was initiated.Creating awareness among practitioners about gingival squamous cell carcinoma mimicking pyogenic granuloma in dental practice.

Primary intraosseous squamous cell carcinoma (PIOSCC) is a rare malignant neoplasm derived from odontogenic epithelial remnants in the central jaw bone. Most PIOSCCs originate from odontogenic cysts with a nonkeratinized epithelial lining, especially from radicular/residual and dentigerous cysts. There have been few reports of PIOSCCs derived from the odontogenic keratocyst (OKC), particularly those describing pathological features at the initial stage. The diagnosis of PIOSCC is difficult and based on exclusion of other carcinomas, including metastatic tumors from other primary sites. Here, we report an extremely rare case of initial-stage PIOSCC derived from the OKC with unusual keratoameloblastomatous change of the maxilla.

Paraneoplastic pemphigus (PNP) is an autoimmune vesiculobullous disease of the skin and mucous membrane associated with benign and malignant neoplasm. The most common malignancies associated with PNP are hematologic and lymphomatoid. Association of oral PNP with squamous cell carcinoma of the pharynx is very scarce, very few cases are reported, and also the cases of PNP are usually refractory to the treatment mainly those associated with hematologic. Here, we reported a case of oral paraneoplastic pemphigus with squamous cell carcinoma of the pharynx that resolved on its own after completion of treatment of pharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma.
