The paper evaluates various aspects of Anglo-Nigerian relations during 25 years of Nigeria’s independence. The analysis is meant to put us in a better position to fully understand the nature and trends of the bilateral relations even after the first 25 years of Nigeria’s independence. The analysis is supported by an avalanche of extant literature that abounds on Anglo-Nigerian relations since 1960 when Nigeria became politically independent.
The unraveling of the literature is illuminating. One, the trend of Anglo-Nigerian relations has remained largely unchanged even in the 21st century. Two, although there have been occasional outbursts of misunderstanding and disagreements between both countries, such disagreements have never been allowed to go to the extent of causing protracted diplomatic rupture between them. Three, the prospects of improved relations between the two countries remain ever bright. In the final analysis, it is recommended that Anglo-Nigerian relations should be improved, nurtured and strengthened for the mutual benefits of both countries.

Abstract: The Development of Islamic Philosophy in Modern Egypt. This article deals with the current development of Egyptian Islamic philosophy. Using descriptive and historical methods of analysis, this study discusses the very root of this philosophy in the modern Egypt, its orientation which gradually turns into popular thought, its methods and luminous figures, and current situation amidst the intellectual approaches of Muslim fundamentalists. In the final analysis this study reveals that the Egyptian Islamic philosophy originates from the Greece brought by her migrating people to the land of Pharaoh. It also suffers changing orientation since it deals with Islamic Theology, mistisism, ushûl fiqh. As for its methodological inquiries, modern Islamic philosophy in this country follows either Mustafâ ‘Abd al-Râziq’s method of critical analysis, Muhammad Iqbal’s comparative method or Ibrâhîm Madkûr’s historical analysis.

Kata Kunci: filsafat Islam, perkembangan pemikiran, modern, Mesir

The emergence of Sino-African megaprojects has become a major topic of discussion in recent years. Developments such as the Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway, Merowe Dam and Nova Cidade de Kilamba are among the most visible linkages between China and Africa and have substantive effects on both bilateral relations and host-country economies. Although Sino-African megaprojects are heterogeneous in terms of framing, objectives and outcomes, certain threads (e.g., drivers, imperatives and policy mechanisms) bind them together within the constellation of overseas Chinese-backed projects. This research systematically examines the diversity of Chinese-backed megaprojects that has sprung up on the continent over the last several decades to construct a framework that categorizes and connects them. In doing so, the article attempts to add form to the growing literature on Sino-African megaprojects.

This article examines the politics of public policies characterised by increased securitisation of Nigeria’s national boundary from 2014 to 2017. While the regulation appears on paper to discourage transborder crime, capital outflow and sustain a favourable balance of payment, the existing armoury of West African border literature argues otherwise. What is new in the transborder dynamics of West Africa? What informs government’s border policies in Nigeria? In answering these questions, this study provides a template for a reassessment of the gap between borderlands theory and policy in West Africa. The approach is comparative based on the critical analysis of oral interviews, government trade records, newspaper reports and the extant literature. The article provides a platform for rethinking of the nexus between governance and development in West Africa from the securitisation and neo-patrimonial perspectives. It concludes that effective border management in Nigeria is set aback by misguided and dysfunctional elitist-centred regulations that are devoid of the realities on the ground.

Dismissal (or involuntary exit) of the chief executive officer (CEO) is a significant milestone with substantial implications for organizations and their members. The growing occurrence of CEO dismissals, and increased academic interest in this area, motivates our comprehensive multidisciplinary synthesis of the extant literature. Our analysis is organized around understanding the antecedents and outcomes of CEO dismissal, and the relevant moderators that play a contingent role in the nomological network. Based on our synthesis of the extant cross-disciplinary literature, we offer a multilevel organizing framework articulating the current state of research on CEO dismissal. In doing so, we catalog and analyze the concepts, theories, and constructs prevalent in the CEO dismissal literature. We also offer an in-depth discussion for the field going forward and identify a constructive agenda for future research on CEO dismissal.
