Summer tourist destinations attract touristS for various attractions and developed product content. This paper focuses on how various attraction factors are important for tourists. The most used model for analysis of the attraction factors is the Ritchie Crouch model, that defines several attractions categories. The paper stars with a modified Ritchie Crouch model with basic attraction factors in the focus within summer destinations. These factors have been taken into consideration having in mind the specifics of summer destinations and their products. The research methodology is based on the AHP model Analytic Hierarchy Process)). In this model, each interviewee compares different alternatives, and in this case assesses the value of individual attraction factors for the decision making process about a summer destination. On the basis of the results, three segments have been identified, followed by testing the significance of the differences between attraction factors among the defined segments. After this, a hypothesis has been tested that there is a bigger difference among the segments defined according to attraction factors preferences than among the traditionally defined segments.

The paper investigates how different hierarchy structuring in analytic hierarchy process (AHP) may affect the final results in the decision-making process. This problem is analyzed in a case study of the Rila monastery forest stands in Bulgaria. There were three similar and mutually overlapped hierarchies defined. A decision maker evaluated all of them and after analyzing final results and consistency performance, he selected and revised the most appropriate hierarchy structure. Consistency check assisted in detecting the judgments which have strongly violated evaluation procedure. These mistakes are interpreted as a consequence of a large number of required pair-wise comparisons. The paper emphases the importance of properly defining hierarchy structure and recommends using consistency analysis as a guide and not as a directive for the revision of judgments.

ABSTRACT

The choice of the finaancing system for aircraft acquisition for Brazilian airlines companies is a fundamental and complex problem. It is fundamental for Brazilian companies because it affects their capital structure and it is complex because it involves a large number of quantitative and qualitative variables. The solution of this problem requires the use of multicriteria methods that are able to combine variables of distinct nature for supporting the decision making process. In this paper, the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is adopted for rating the £inancing alternatives for aircraft acquisition. In order to veri£y the model stability, a sentitivity analysis was then carried out based on the model results.

Decision makings in the contexts of Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) and Marine Geospatial Data Infrastructure (MGDI) are recently gaining attention in SDI literatures. Both initiatives are multi-dynamic and complex in nature, thus exhibiting multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problems. Yet, there is dearth of multi-criteria evaluation (MCE) decision making framework. In this paper, major criteria for enhanced decisions about MGDI implementations are evaluated. These criteria sourced from literature, further adjudged through Delphi experts group evaluations till consensus was reached on seven criteria. Thereafter, pilot surveys for criteria weightage and ranking based on Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) model were carried out, with respondents from marine stakeholders in Malaysia. Results obtained were assessed and compared with scoring procedure; Data and Information had the highest percentage while Social criterion is the least ranked. The significance of these criteria in enhancing MGDI decision for numerous marine activities among the stakeholders are therefore highlighted through this study.

The determination of elective courses for students is one of many things that require some complex considerations. This complexity is motivated by psychological and non-psychological factors of human beings such as: learning motivation, lecturer and previous learning experience. Many students found difficulties if they have to decide in a complex options in which has the identical option. Thus, they made their decisions based on just one perceived factors alone without taking into account other factors which have great importance as well. Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is one method that can be used as an appropriate decision supporting tool to reduce the complexity of decision making process. AHP provides analysis in the form of selected course recommendations that have a weight of rankings to the level of importance of each preferred alternative. This study was a preliminary study subjected to construct the real consideration from students’ point of view. In which very important to create a hierarchical perspective order for decision making process in both sides, student and education provider which was on Accounting Education Department, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Sebelas Maret Surakarta.

Public transportation is one of the main goals of a developing city. This topic includes not only administrators, but also city residents and the environment, with economic, environmental, and social factors. This paper presents a multicriteria decision-making process for prioritizing alternative public transportation projects in Kırıkkale, considering the urban type of a developing city. It outlines three planned projects for improvement: “electric municipality bus”, “light rail system”, and the “modernization of existing vehicles and network optimization”. In this study, we use the analytic hierarchy process and fuzzy technique for order preference by similarity to ideal situation (TOPSIS) application to prioritize transportation projects using economic, social, transportation, and environmental sub-criteria. The aim of this study is to select the most suitable project, based on sustainability, for more urban livability in Kırıkkale city. In the strategic decision-making process, the weights of each sustainability criteria have been determined using analytic hierarchy process (AHP). The fuzzy TOPSIS method has been applied for ranking the proposed alternative projects for Kırıkkale. Finally, the analytic decision process results are compared, and the electric municipality bus is selected as the best project alternative. The results of this study can not only offer a solution for current needs related to urban planning, but also ensure as a more transparent decision-making process for developing sustainability in developing cities in the near future.

The level of soil degradation worldwide is alarming due to its potential for causing serious problems such as threatening food security. The sultanate of Oman faces the problem of soil erosion which also disturbs waterways, infrastructure and agriculture. The problem of soil erosion has become increasingly apparent in Oman and is due to inappropriate land management. This occurs particularly with dams where sedimentation is a common issue and in the aflaj water systems. Currently, there are no appropriate methods being practiced that would overcome the problem of soil erosion in Oman, and no specific studies are available that discuss suitable methods for soil protection in Oman. Therefore, this study is an initiative to overcome the problem of soil erosion in Oman by proposing the best soil erosion protection method using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). In order to achieve this goal, this study reviews different methods of preventing soil erosion and the factors governing their selection. The important and controlling factors were considered in an AHP model to rank the soil erosion protection methods. Based on the AHP model, pairwise comparisons were conducted with the help of 15 experts from different sectors including authorities responsible for soil conservation in Oman, decision-making governmental departments and research institutes. The results of the AHP analysis indicated that the most suitable soil erosion protection method, based on the considered factors, is erosion control fences, followed by protection of the gully head and revetment. As no previous studies on suitable methods for soil conservation in Oman exist, this study bridges the gap by providing valuable information on the best soil protection methods that could help soil conservation authorities in Oman as they decide about possible future strategies. The study also indicated that the AHP model is a suitable guiding framework for decision-making because it involves a group of experts for the selection of soil protection methods based on the situation in Oman.
