The image of the estate — “noble nest” is one of the key ones in Bunin’s depiction of Russian world. This image is illuminated before a reader by writer`s works of different years. It is examined how this image is changing, is subjected to correction and even transformation depending on the time when the book was written. Prognostic and culturally sensitive writer’s concept translated into a fatal attachment of the characters to the estate (“Sukhodol”). That attachment is akin to a religion. Writer’s concept is implemented this way with help of master poetics of surrealism that create the picture where “dreams are sometimes richer than reality”. The dramaticism of culturally sensitive view is replaced by the tragic of an apocalyptic vision in the works of beginning emigrant period (“Nameday”). The phase of “return” of Russian estate to timeless space of culture begins in 1930s — 1940s (“Wanderings”, “The Life of Arseniev”). The culture as well as the Russian world as a whole is illuminated as “not temporary and distorted but eternal and metaphysically enlightened”. It is necessary to bear in mind that in addition to cross-cutting transformations of the estate’s image, world of the estate is organically linked with the general concept in every specific work. This image is enriched with new semantic focuses and nuances every time.

Exocytosis is a general concept describing secretion of enzymes, hormones and transmitters that are otherwise sequestered in intracellular granules. Chemical evidence for this concept was first gathered from studies on chromaffin cells in perfused adrenal glands, in which it was found that granule contents, including both large protein and small molecules such as adrenaline and ATP, were released together while the granule membrane was retained in the cell. A number of exhaustive reviews of this early work have been published and are summarized in Reference 1. The critical experiments demonstrating the importance of extracellular calcium for exocytosis per se were also first performed in this system (2,3), further indicating the substantial service given by chromaffin cells to those interested in secretory phenomena over the years.

Abstract Purpose: In this article, we describe the existing literacy research with school-age children who are indigenous. The lack of data for this group of children requires speech-language pathologists (SLPs) to use expert opinion from indigenous and non-indigenous people to develop culturally sensitive methods for fostering literacy skills. Method: We describe two available curricula developed by indigenous people that are available, which use authentic materials and embed indigenous stories into the learning environment: The Indian Reading Series and the Northwest Native American Reading Curriculum. We also discuss the importance of using cooperative learning, multisensory instruction, and increased holistic emphasis to create a more culturally sensitive implementation of services. We provide an example of a literacy-based language facilitation that was developed for an indigenous tribe in Kansas. Conclusion: SLPs can provide services to indigenous children that foster literacy skills through storytelling using authentic materials as well as activities and methods that are consistent with the client's values and beliefs.

Abstract Referring agents may ask independent medical evaluators if the examinee can return to work in either a normal or a restricted capacity; similarly, employers may ask external parties to conduct this type of assessment before a hire or after an injury. Functional capacity evaluations (FCEs) are used to measure agility and strength, but they have limitations and use technical jargon or concepts that can be confusing. This article clarifies key terms and concepts related to FCEs. The basic approach to a job analysis is to collect information about the job using a variety of methods, analyze the data, and summarize the data to determine specific factors required for the job. No single, optimal job analysis or validation method is applicable to every work situation or company, but the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission offers technical standards for each type of validity study. FCEs are a systematic method of measuring an individual's ability to perform various activities, and results are matched to descriptions of specific work-related tasks. Results of physical abilities/agilities tests are reported as “matching” or “not matching” job demands or “pass” or “fail” meeting job criteria. Individuals who fail an employment physical agility test often challenge the results on the basis that the test was poorly conducted, that the test protocol was not reflective of the job, or that levels for successful completion were inappropriate.
