The study investigated the impact of Corporate Social Responsibility on Corporate Competitive Advantage on Zimbabwean listed companies. A stratified sample of 10 participants from 10 companies listed on Zimbabwe Stock Exchange was utilised to examine the influence of corporate social responsibility on competitive advantage during a period from 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2013. The study utilised a mixed method approach and data was analysed in the form of descriptive statistics. The results show a significant influence of corporate social responsibility on competitive edge on Zimbabwe stock exchange listed companies. Results also reveal that the degree to which social responsibility is emphasized can impact a firm’s credibility, ultimately influencing the ability to raise capital, retain effective and productive staff, bid for quality raw materials from reputable suppliers and even manage to secure relatively lucrative growth opportunities. All these collectively help entities build and sustain strong competitive edges against their fellow competitors

PurposeThe current study seeks to examine the impact of web marketing (through the company's website) on corporate social responsibility (CSR) and firms' performance across companies listed in the Muscat Stock Exchange (MSX), Oman.Design/methodology/approachThis research analyses qualitative and exploratory data taken from companies' website, annual reports (the financial year 2019), Google search and CSR report from 69 out of total 117 listed companies in the MSX to analyze the impact of web marketing on CSR and firms' performance proxied by return of assets (ROA), return of equity (ROE) and Tobin's Q (TQ).FindingsWeb marketing on CSR positively affects firms' performance. Especially, the positive effect of web marketing on firms' performance is stronger for listed companies. Web marketing enhances financial performance proxied by ROA, ROE and TQ.Practical implicationsThe research findings provide new insights that are able to enlighten governing bodies in Oman to make standardized compulsory CSR spending (say, 0.5% on profit after tax) by listed companies in MSX.Originality/valueThis research presents evidence that web marketing on CSR can increase firms' performance and brand image among stakeholders. This is the first study to examine the impact of web marketing on CSR and firms' performance using empirical data in Oman.

This study aims to explore the impact of family ownership on the relationship among corporate social responsibility (CSR) and earning management (EM) in Pakistan. Data is collected from nonfinancial listed firms on Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSE) for the period 2009-2017. Our results of pooled ordinary least square regression indicate that CSR has significant negative impact on EM. Furthermore, results also indicate that association between CSR and EM is moderated by family ownership. Family firms which perform CSR activities are less involved in EM as compare to nonfamily firms perform CSR activities. This variation in behavior of EM in family and non-family firms can possibly be explained by socioemotional wealth theory. Objective – This paper aims to examine the influence of Leadership Style, Intellectual Capital, and Corporate Social Responsibility on Performance in companies in the sub-sectors of Mining, Pharmacy and Consumption and Household, Basic Industry, Chemical and Infrastructure, Utility and Telecommunication listed on Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) 2012-2018. Methodology/Technique – In this research, leadership style is measured transformationally and transactionally. Meanwhile, Intellectual Capital is measured using VAICTM. Furthermore, Corporate Social Responsibility is measured using GRI G4, and Financial Performance is proxied by ROA, ROE, and sales growth. The method used is a saturated sample. The sample in this research was 50 companies in the Basic and Chemical Industry sub-sector, 28 companies in the infrastructure, utilities, and telecommunications sub-sectors, 38 mining sub-sector companies, and 17 companies in the consumer goods sub-sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX). This research used secondary data taken from financial and annual reports and primary data obtained through questionnaires for leadership style. The analysis method used is simple regression analysis. Findings & Novelty –The results show that the influence of leadership style, intellectual capital, and corporate social responsibility in the four sectors varies with a positive or negative relationship direction. Intellectual capital has a positive significant influence on ROA, ROE and SG in four sectors. Previous research has focused on only one sector. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has remained topical and contentious as various schools of thought are put forward on its relationship to cost versus profitability for businesses. This study explored the relevance of CSR and its effect on the survival of businesses during an economic meltdown in Zimbabwe. The study purposively sampled 31 companies that are listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange and have sound CSR programmes. A total of 93 questionnaires were administered and a Chi-square was conducted to test and establish the relationship between CSR strategies and business survival. The study concluded that companies with CSR strategies had a higher chance of surviving during turbulent times. Following the findings of the study, it is recommended that government comes up with CSR policies for different industries and that organisations continue investing in CSR especially in times of economic challenges.

Do Good Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility Influence Profitability of LQ45 Listed Companies. This study aims to examine the influence of good corporate governance and corporate social responsibility on profitability of LQ45 listed companies in Indonesia Stock Exchange. The data analyzed were secondary data in the form of annual reports and sustainability report. The data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results of this research indicate: (1) Good corporate governance (GCG) has a significant effect on profitability of LQ45 listed companies; (2) Corporate social responsibility (CSR) does not have a significant effect on profitability of LQ45 listed companies. This research provides empirical evidence that implementation of GCG could influence profitability, while the implementation of CSR does not influence profitability. ABSTRAK Corporate social responsibility merupakan kegiatan sosial yang dilakukan oleh perusahaan untuk masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat dampak profitabilitas dan leverage terhadap corporate social responsibility pada perusahaan manufaktur yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) tahun 2016-2018 dan difokuskan pada sektor industri dasar dan kimia, penarikan sampel menggunakan purposive sampling dan diperoleh 20 perusahaan yang menghasilkan 60 data panel. Metode dalam riset ini memakai pendekatan kuantitatif dengan teknik analisis data yang dipa analisis regresi berganda dengan bantuan aplikasi SPSS 22. Hasil riset menunjukkan bahwa profitabilitas mempunyai dampak terhadap corporate social responsibility  dengan nilai signifikan sebesar 0,001 sedangkan leverage tidak memilki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap corporate social responsibility. Kata kunci : Corporate Social Responsibility, Profitabilitas, Leverage. ABSTRACT Corporate social responsibility is a social activity carried out by the companies for the community. This study intends to see the impact of profitability and leverage on corporate social responsibility in manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) 2016-2018 and is focused on one sector, namely the basic industrial sector and chemicals, with sampling using purposive sampling and obtained 20 companies that produced 60-panel data. The method used in this research is the quantitative approach. This research also used the data analysis technique, with multiple regression analysis using the support of the SPSS 22 application. The results showed that profitability has an impact on corporate social responsibility with a significant value of 0.001 while leverage does not have a significant negative influence on corporate social responsibility. In the era of globalization, environmental awareness has brought about changes in attitudes towards profit orientation of the social orientation of the company. Management as the agent cannot avoid the reality of the impact of corporate activity that not only generates profits / raise stock prices, but also has environmental impacts such as damage to ecosystems, pollution, and so forth. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of firm characteristics on corporate social responsibility disclosure in corporate annual reports in Indonesia. The populations in this study are 10 companies listed in the LQ45 index of the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) with the research period of 2011 until 2015 and meet the criteria established. Analysis of the Data used is multiple linear regressions. The results of this study indicate that public ownership, liquidity, and firm size have no significant effect on corporate social responsibility disclosure. Meanwhile, leverage and profitability have a significant effect on corporate social responsibility disclosure.
