This research is conducted to reveal the influence of Problem Based Learning method toward students’ critical thinking ability improvement on Introduction of Economy and Business subject in SMKN 1 Bandung. The method used in this research is quasi experimental with Nonequivalent (Pretest and Posttest) Control Group Design. The data analysis technique with parametric statistical, test of dif­ference (paired samples t-test and independent samples t-test), gain score and effect size calculation used in this research is SPSS versi 21. The result shown that the use of Problem Based Learning method is more effective to improve the critical thinking ability than the Jigsaw techniques. learning

Implementation of Curriculum 2013 requires students to learn actively, independently, and critical thinking. Critical thinking is an activity through thinking about ideas related to concepts or problems. The efforts to improve critical thinking skills of learners can be done by using the appropriate learning model. One of the learning models that can be used to improve the ability of critical thinking is a problem-based learning model. This type of research is quasi experiment with randomized control-group pretest posttest design. The sample of this research choosed by used purposive sampling method. Class VIII6 as experimental class and class VIII4 as control class. Data of this research result are quantitative data of critical thinking ability. Data were analyzed by using t test. The results showed that the mean difference of posttest value with pretest value of critical thinking ability of experimental class learners is higher than control class. Hypothesis testing with t-test obtained tcalculate=2,94>ttable= 1,67, then H1 accepted. Based on these results the authors conclude that the implementation of problem-based learning model has a positive effect on the ability to think critically learners on the material additives and addictive substances.

[Title: The Effect of Thinking Aloud Pair Problem Solving Learning Model Toward Student Physics Science Learning Outcomes]. This research aims to know the effectiveness of the learning problem based learning model assisted work sheet for the critical thinking ability of physics students of grade X SMAN 1 Lingsar inacademics year 2016/2017. This was an experiments research that using design research Posttest-Only Control group Design. The population in this research were the whole grade X SMA Negeri 1 Lingsar in academics year 2016/2017. Sampling taken with using cluster random sampling technique with the students of class X. MIA. A as experiments class and grade X. MIA. D as controls class. Research hypothesis was analysis with the t-test for one party (the party right). Based on the hypothesis test results obtained tcount> ttable at significance level of 5%, then it can be inferred that the model of learning problem based learning assisted work sheet effective for critical thinking ability of physics students SMAN 1 Lingsar.

This research is conducted to reveal the influence of Discovery Learning method toward students’ concept understanding improvement on Introduction of Economy and Business subject in SMKN 1 Bandung. The method used in this research is quasi experimental with nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The data analysis teknik with parametric statistical,  test of difference (paired samples t-test and independent samples t-test), gain score and effect size calculationused in this research is SPSS v21. The result shown that the use of Discovery Learning method is more effective toimprove the understanding of the concept than the ExpositoryLearning method does.

This study is a pre test-post test experimental control group design having a goal to analyze  the role of problem based learning on students’ mathematical critical thinking ability  and self regulated learning. The study involved 60 eighth grade students of an MTs, a mathematical critical thinkng test, and a mathematical  self regulated learning scale. The study found that on mathematical critical thinking ability, its gain, and on mathematical self regulated learning, students getting treatment with problem based learning approach attained  better grade than that of students taught by conventional teaching. The first group students obtained at fairly good grades level, while the students taught by conventional teaching attained at medium grades level. The other findings, there was fairly good association between mathematical critical thinking  ability and mathematical self regulated learning.

AbstractThis study aims to determine the effect of using contextual learning module based on multiple representations on critical thinking ability. The sample of this research is the students of class X IPA 1 and X IPA 2 SMA Negeri 1 Bandar Surabaya. This research was conducted using Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design type. Data were tested with analysis N-gain, Normality Test, Homogeneity Test and Independent Sample T-test. Based on thetest N-gain, the average value of N-gain critical thinking ability in the experimental class is 0.77 with the high category, while the control class with the medium category is 0.65, so it can be stated that there is a difference of critical thinking ability of the experimental class and class control. Results from the Independent Sample T-test value of the value Sig. (2-Tailed) less than 0.05 is 0.007, then it can be stated there is a significant influence of the use of contextual learning module based on multiple repetitive ntations on students' critical thinking ability.Keywords: Contextual Learning Module, Multiple Represntations, Critical Thinking.

In this research, interactive multimedia on dynamic electricity concepts was developed and tested. The purpose of this research was to analyze the feasibility and the effectiveness of interactive multimedia through a problem-based learning approach to students’ critical thinking ability. The research and development (R & D) had three stages: preliminary study, development, and field testing. The field testing was a quasi-experiment with a pretest and posttest control group design. The research subjects consisted of four lecturers as expert validators, two teachers and two groups of 72 students in a senior high school in Batang Regency, Central Java. Data were gathered by using questionnaires, observation, interviews, and written test. The results of the Normalized-gain test were 61.79 for the experiment group and 49.91 for the control group. This shows that there were differences in the increase of students' critical thinking ability between the control group and the experiment group.Therefore, it can be concluded that the application of interactive multimedia could improve students' critical thinking ability.

<p>This research aimed to find out whether or not there is an effect of Predict Observe Explain Write on the critical thinking ability of the X graders of SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in academic year on 2012/2013. This study was a quasi experiment research. Posstet only nonequivalent control group design is used in this research. The population of research was all X grades of SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in academic year 2012/2013 consisiting 285 students. Cluster sampling.is used to this research. The result of cluster sampling is choosen for X6 as experimental gruop and X7 as control group. Predict observe explain write model is applied in experimental group and conventional model is applied in control group.  The data was collected by using critical thinking test, observastion sheet, and school documents. The data were analyzed by t-test. The results of this research shows that the mean of student’s capability of critical thinking in experiment class higher than control class, it was 70,41 for experiment class and 61,98 for control class.  The result of hypothesis is analyzed by t-test and it gets significant value 0,000 (sig.&lt;0,05), so the Predict Observe Explain Write model has effect toward student’s capability of critical thinking. This conclution is the application of Predict Observe Explain Write models has real effect toward critical thinking ability of X grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Sukoharjo in academic year on 2012/2013.</p><p align="center"> </p><p class="0jTULISANKATAKUNCIKEYWORDS">Key Words: Predict Observe Explain model, Think Talk Write strategy, Critical Thinking Ability</p>

Recent research reveals a gap in determining the effect of problem-based learning (PBL) on students’ critical thinking ability. Existing evidences from previous research have been equivocal to be deemed conclusive, especially in across multiple educational disciplines. This paper investigates the effect of PBL on students’ critical thinking ability, as compared to conventional approach. The study employed an experimental pretest and posttest with control group design. The participants were 53 undergraduate students in electrical engineering course, who attended Electrical Technology Module (ET101) in their first semester. Participants completed the pretest and posttests of the translated version of the Cornell Critical Thinking Test Specimen set. The results suggested that students’ critical thinking ability in the PBL group had not been significantly different from their counterparts in the conventional approach group. This paper further discusses the implication of problem-based learning in engineering education.

The purpose of this research is to know the influence of biology teaching through inquiry integrated with cooperative towards the critical thinking ability. This research addresses the role of inquiry and cooperative learning strategy as well as these interactions towards the increase of the critical thinking ability. Quasi experimental research of Pretest-postest nonequivalent control group design with factorial design 2x2x2 were implemented on the odd semester in academic years of 2006/2007  on X grade student of the state SMA in Metro City Lampung. The  research sample consists of 96 students, comprising of student from high and low academic abilities. To examine hypothesis, it is used Ancova technique and continued by LSD test. There was a difference on the critical thinking ability  between students who learn by inquiry level 1 with student who learn by inquiry level 2, between students, who have high academic ability and students who have low academic ability, and there was not difference on the critical thinking ability  between students who learn by STAD cooperative  with student who learn by TPS. There is no effect of interaction between inquiry with cooperative, inquiry with student’s academic ability, cooperative with student’s academic ability, inquiry with cooperative and student’s academic ability towards the cognitive achievement Kata kunci: cooperative learning, inquiry, berpikir kritis
