Recently, information technology governance has become a critical issue for many companies in various industries; this is even more important for enterprises due to the more complex business processes, more specified tasks and departments. Many companies suffer from extra costs of IT and other processes due to failure inefficient alignment between IT and business strategies which in turn, leads to low performance of the company. To overcome this problem, organizations need to have an effective ITG to make IT resources management more valuable, less substitute, rarer, and less imitable. To do so, firms need to use IT governance initiatives factors (Involvement of Senior Management in IT and Corporate Communication Systems) to increase their effectiveness and organizational performance. Thus, this paper is aimed to establish a framework, testing the role of Involvement of Senior Management in IT and Corporate Communication Systems on effective information technology governance (ITG) and organizational performance in the manufacturing companies; which should help managers to better understand how Involvement of Senior Management in IT and Corporate Communication Systems and effective ITG, impacts on organizational performance. 357 data were obtained from managers in the Malaysian manufacturing industry. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used in this study to analyze the measurement and structural models simultaneously to test the role effect of ITG between information technology governance initiative factors (Involvement of Senior Management in IT and Corporate Communication Systems) and organizational performance. Limitations, implications, and suggestions for future studies were discussed.

Contemporary organizations need to follow their performance over a continuous period, as the short period is not enough to provide complete control. Bearing this in mind, performance measurement indicators must be reflecting the organizational strategy, not just in the short term, but also in the medium and long term. In the past, especially in industrial enterprises, a high interest in measuring organizational performance was noted. Afterward, the need for effective performance management has also gained increased recognition and interest in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Considering the transversal demand for management control tools, the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) gained special highlight, based on its four interlinked perspectives (financial, customer, internal processes, and learning & growth), originally developed by Kaplan and Norton. The BSC was selected for this research, as it has been already implemented by multiple HEIs, to guide managers and directors in their decisions and contribute to greater efficiency. It was, therefore, also selected for the implementation by an analyzed Portuguese higher education institution. This research aims to contribute to the empirical and practical understanding of BSC implementation in higher education, whilst providing orientation to directors and managers of HEIs. With the implementation of this tool, managers and directors can monitor the organizational performance and follow the defined strategy in the medium and long term. Based on these findings, other institutions could use this study as a guide and a benchmark.

PurposeThe purpose of this study is at creating a performance management system template based on the Balanced Scorecard (BSC) framework, which could lead the scorecard to function properly at Arts, Sciences and Technology University in Lebanon (AUL) and, as assumed, in other Lebanese private higher educational institutions.Design/methodology/approachThis study compares existing theoretical models applied in private higher education institutions (HEIs) in Lebanon. It adopts inductive approach with semi-structured interviews that helped the authors understand the way BSC is implemented in the private Lebanese institutions.FindingsThis study suggested a customizable BSC to be used at AUL and other Lebanese private HEIs to enhance and calibrate their organizational performance.Originality/valueMany researchers have investigated the use of Robert Kaplan and David Norton's BSC in various types of organizations, but there was no specific study describing the Lebanese higher education system. This study investigates the use of the BSC framework in Lebanese private HEIs taking Arts, Science and Technology University in Lebanon (AUL) as a sample. Moreover, this study also adapted a BSC model to the case of a private HEI, which extends the current body of literature related to the use, implementation and adaptation of the BSC.

This research particularly aimed to examine mediating roles of Information Technology (IT) innovation under the influences of IT governance to improve competitive advantages of institutions. For this primary goal, it was conducted both quantitatively and qualitatively. Apart from an empirical survey with active participation of 85 private schools of informatics management and computing in Indonesia, Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) were applied. Heads of respective schools became the informants. Quantitative data results emphasize that IT governance has indirect influences on competitive advantages. Mediating roles of IT innovation, however, positively and significantly improve such advantages. This paper suggests the essence of IT governance and IT innovation in improving higher education institutions in developing and developed countries.

This article presents raw inferential statistical data that determine the IT Governance effectiveness on the IT Performance. To identify influence mechanism Information Technology Governance (ITG) on Effectiveness ITG and IT Performance.Data were collected from respondents in all regions of Indonesia. Quantitative research methods are used to analyze data. The structured questionnaire was distributed to respondents in all regions of Indonesia who understood the field of IT Governance in Higher University whose reliability and validity were confirmed. Structural equation modeling (SEM) using Smart PLS software, version 3, is used to present data. SEM path analysis shows an estimate of the relationship of the main constructs in the data The results obtained from this dataset shows positive relationship between mechanism Structure, Process and Relation to IT Governance effectiveness, consciousness also has a significant influence on the IT Performance and positive relationship between IT Governance effectiveness and IT Performance. However, mechanism structure and process has proven to have a negative and insignificant influence on the IT Performance Effective IT governance related to mechanism ITG and IT Performance level of unit analysis. One of the more significant findings to emerge from this study is that evaluate the mechanism ITG impact to effective IT governance that focus on higher education institution (HEI). This study already examines a validation of evaluation model and collecting data in particular higher education institution (HEI) as a single case study.

ABSTRACT Although some authors have stated that effective IT governance is crucial for any organization to achieve its corporate goals, little empirical research is available supporting the assumptions regarding the factors that determine the effectiveness of IT governance. This paper analyzes the main IT governance domains (i.e., IT strategic alignment, IT risk management, IT value delivery, IT resource management, and IT performance management) and the presence of several IT governance mechanisms that constitute antecedents of IT governance effectiveness. We used partial least squares (PLS) structural equation modeling to test our hypotheses based on survey data from 87 large Brazilian companies. Our results show IT strategic alignment, IT value delivery, IT risk management, and IT performance management have a positive and significant impact on the effectiveness of IT governance. Further, we found associations of structural, procedural, and relational mechanisms with the main IT governance domains suggesting their adoption can improve IT governance within organizations.

Employee turnover has become a key performance indicator for many organizations as they struggle to retain talented employees. The negative impact of turnover on organizational performance has continually forced organizational leaders to seek better ways of retaining valuable employees. The relationship between man and work has always attracted the attention of philosophers. A major part of men’s life is spent at work. Work is social reality and social expectation to which men seem to conform. It not only provides status to the individual but also binds him to the society. An employee who is satisfied with his job would perform his duties well and be committed to his job, and subsequently to his organization. This paper examines relationship among job satisfaction, organizational commitment and employees’ turnover intentions at Unilever Corporation in Nigeria. The data for this study was collected from 117 employees currently working at Unilever Nigeria PLC using the survey method via the questionnaire. Pearson Correlation and the multiple regression analysis techniques using the SPSS version 22.0 was used for the data analysis. The findings of the study revealed that both job satisfaction and organizational commitment have significant negative relationship with employee turnover intentions. In addition, organizational commitment was revealed to have a more dorminant influence on employee turnover intentions than job satisfaction. Based on these findings, the implications, recommendations, practice, and theory were discussed.
