LANGUAGE NOTE | Document text in English; abstract also in Chinese. Teachers may change their teaching practices and develop differently during their teaching lives. Occupational socialization model was used as the theoretical framework of this study. The purpose of this study was to examine the teaching practices of three primary physical education teachers after four years of teaching and seek explanations for the practices. A mixed-methods approach was used to collect data in the study. The participants were videotaped and observed teaching four ball game lessons in their own schools. The lessons were coded using the Physical Education Teacher Assessment Instrument. Data generated were compared to lessons observed four years before using the same categories. Qualitative data were collected through lesson observations and interviews before and after they taught. Constant comparison and analytic induction were used to organise and categorise the data. The trustworthiness of the study was established by using triangulation, peer debriefing and member checking. The results indicate that the teachers adjusted their teaching focus and modified their practices after four years. Explanations are given here for the modifications of practice. The findings provide invaluable information for physical education teacher educators in the preparation of both pre-service and in-service physical education teachers. 本研究旨在探討三位小學體育教師四年教學後的教學實踐。資料以混合研究法蒐集。參與者會被觀察錄影四課球類教學。教學以體育教師評估工具分析。數據會與四年前所觀察比較。質量數據是透過課堂觀察及教學前後訪談收集。資料以持續比較及分析歸納組織和分類。研究信實度以三角檢正、同儕審視和參與者檢核建立。結果顯示四年後教師調整修改教學焦點及實踐,研究員探討其調整實踐原因。此等為培育職前和在職體育教師的寶貴資料。

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of occupational socialization on the development of United States secondary physical education teachers’ beliefs and actions regarding curriculum design. Participants were 10 teachers. Data were collected with six qualitative techniques and analyzed using analytic induction and constant comparison. Three groups of teachers were identified: non-teachers, conservatives, and progressives. Key influences on the teachers’ beliefs and values were their orientations to teaching and coaching. These orientations had been formed during their acculturation and were untouched or reinforced by their physical education teacher education. The cultures in which they worked generally supported the non-teachers’ perspectives. Practical implications of the study focused on the need for careful selection of preservice teachers, ways in which to deliver physical education teacher education, and the need for increased accountability in schools.

The aim of this research is to examine the ideal physical education profile from the perspective of physical education teacher educators, that is, academicians working in the physical education and sports teaching department of the faculties of sports sciences. Within the scope of this purpose, the views of the academicians about the pre-graduate education, the undergraduate education period and their own teaching were compared with their views on the ideal physical education teacher. In order to express the comparisons more clearly, metaphor was used. The academicians were asked to match the physical education teachers who influenced them the most from their past to the future, their own teaching and their views on the ideal physical education teacher, with the nature metaphor presented to them by the researchers. In the study, which was based on the qualitative research method, the “interview” approach and the “interview form method” were used as the data collection method. According to the stratified sampling method, the participants of the study; taking into account the academic titles of the participants; 3 professors, 3 associate professors, 3 assistant professor and 3 lecturers A total of 12 physical education teacher educators (academics) were determined. As a result of the research, it was observed that while the participants defined their pre-graduate teachers closer to the ideal teacher in terms of their physical characteristics, they defined their undergraduate physical education teachers and themselves as closer to the ideal physical education teacher in the main themes of personality traits, teacher leadership styles and teaching methods.

Occupational socialization theory has been used to understand the recruitment, education, and socialization of physical education teachers for nearly 40 yr. It has, however, only recently been applied to the study of adapted physical education teachers. The purpose of this descriptive case study was to understand the socialization of preservice teachers in an adapted physical education teacher education graduate-level program. Participants included 17 purposefully selected preservice teachers (5 male and 12 female) enrolled in a yearlong graduate-level adapted physical education teacher education program. Qualitative data were collected using interviews, reflective journaling, and field notes taken during teaching and coursework observations. Data analysis resulted in the construction of 3 themes: overcoming contextual challenges to meet learners’ needs, the importance of field-based teacher education, and coping with the challenges of marginalization. The discussion connects to and advances occupational socialization theory in adapted physical education and suggests that professional socialization may have a more profound influence on preservice adapted physical education teachers than on their physical education counterparts.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the Physical Education Teacher Attitudes Toward Fitness Tests Scale (PETAFTS) produces reliable and valid scores. There were 4 stages and 4 sets of participants in the development of the PETAFTS. First, the domains of attitude were defined and cognitive and affective components were developed, organized, and validated. In the second stage, 134 full-time physical education teachers participated in a pilot study and PETAFTS was revised based on the information obtained. In the third stage, 28 teacher educators served on an expert panel and organized the items into domain areas. In the final stage, 322 physical education teachers from 10 states tested the revised PETAFTS. Based on the results, the PETAFTS was shortened by deleting and combining some of the items in subdomains; this resulted in a 16-item final version that, according to the indices, generates reliable and valid scores.

Although high school sport in Canada has traditionally been an extracurricular activity overseen by physical education teachers, recent findings demonstrate how the majority ( n = 1677, 60%) of coaches are in fact non-physical education teachers. The purpose of the present study was to compare physical education and non-physical education teachers who coach high school sport teams. A national sample of 2890 Canadian high school teacher-coaches (males = 1967, 68%) from all 10 provinces and 3 territories responded to an online survey. Significant differences were found between physical education teacher-coaches and non-physical education teacher-coaches in terms of demographic variables, perceived teacher-coach benefits, and perceived coaching efficacy, whereby physical education teacher-coaches tended to have more favorable perceptions. Based on the results, access to coach education should be facilitated, particularly for non-physical education teacher coaches.

This research was conducted with the aim of analyzing the position of teacher creativity in an effort to mediate the influence of the practice of Human Resource Management (HRM) which can be carried out by schools to improve teacher performance. This type of research is an explanatory research and also uses a quantitative approach. The variables in this research include several aspects such as the practice of implementing HRM, Teacher Creativity, and the performance of Sports Physical Education Teachers. This research was conducted by reaching a number of 102 Sports Physical Education teachers consisting of several levels such as elementary, middle, and high schools in Malang City, Malang Regency and Batu City. Information can be obtained by distributing questionnaires either directly (offline) or online. The analysis of data information was carried out by researchers using SEM-PLS with the WARP PLS 7 application Meanwhile, the results of this research indicate the findings that the practice of HRM does not have a direct influence on the performance of Sports Physical Education Teachers with a significance value of 0.30 and the effect of HR Practice on The performance of sports teachers mediated by teacher creativity has a significance value of <0.001, which means that the teacher's creativity fully mediates the effect of HR practice on the performance of sports teachers.
