Background and Purpose: Most research on Dual Language Programme (DLP) in Malaysia mainly focused on the teachers’ perceptions or challenges faced in implementing the programme in schools and only a few concentrated on the receiver of this programme – the students. Therefore, this study seeks to address this gap by examining factors which affect students’ satisfaction of DLP programme.   Methodology: In this study, 105 DLP students from secondary schools in Pekan, Pahang, a state in the east coast of peninsular Malaysia, answered a four-point Likert scale questionnaire, ranging from strongly agree to strongly disagree. The questionnaire was first assessed by experts and after that, went through a pilot test. The Cronbach’s Alpha value recorded was 0.862. The data obtained were then analysed using Structural Equation Modelling (SEM).   Findings: Findings indicate that the path coefficient of readiness to interest, readiness to confidence, and interest to student satisfaction are significant. However, the path coefficient for confidence and readiness to student satisfaction were not significant since p-value > 0.05. In testing mediation, interest did mediate the relationship between readiness and student satisfaction with full mediation while confidence did not mediate the relationship between readiness and student satisfaction. Contributions: The contributions of this study lie in its empirical findings in understanding students’ satisfaction towards DLP programme in Malaysia. Additionally, it suggests the need for pragmatic and humanistic pedagogy in teaching Science and Mathematics in English.   Keywords: Dual language programme (DLP), student satisfaction, Structural Equation Modelling, mediation, Science and Mathematics in English, Malaysia.   Cite as: Masrom, U. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the influence of both environmental practices and corporate environmental performance on competitiveness. It determines the mediating effects of corporate environmental performance on the relationship between environmental practices and competitiveness. Design/methodology/approach This study adopts a cross-sectional survey method. The data were collected from 155 industrial companies from Libya and analysed using structural equation modelling. Findings The results indicate that environmental performance partially mediates the relationship between environmental practices and competitiveness. The mediating effects occur between competitiveness and green conventional practices, organisational practices and stakeholders’ integration. Research limitations/implications The study used a self-reported questionnaire completed by managers in Libyan industrial companies. As such, the survey data might be subject to social desirability. Additionally, the results of the study may be generalised only to a similar environment and stage of development. Practical implications The results can help companies better understand how to improve their current resources base by building incremental capabilities, which, in turn, protect the surrounding environment and enhance their competitiveness. Originality/value This study is the first to have considered the issue of incremental capabilities in the environmental domain, which can contribute significantly to better understanding the role of incremental capabilities in improving the competitiveness of companies. Additionally, it provides empirical evidence on the state-of-art of environmental practices and their consequences in less-developed countries which are characterised by scarcity of research.

The aim of this study was to measures the effect of service quality on customer satisfaction. There are 384 respondents were selected from 19 universities of Khyber Pakhtunkwa (Pakistan). The proportionate stratified sampling method was used for the collection of data. The collected data was analysed using SPSS and AMOS packages. Exploratory Factor, Confirmatory Analysis and Parallel Analysis were also performed.  Structural Equation Modelling technique was used to investigate the relationship among variables under investigation. Findings of the research reveals that majority of the respondents were satisfied with the dimensions of HEdPERF model in universities of Khyber Pakhunkhwa (Pakistan). The dimension academic was ranked the most important dimension of service quality. Thus, this unique finding implies that universities should nurture the academic quality rigorously in order to enhance students’ satisfaction without ignoring the remaining dimension of service quality.

This work firstly aims to develop a sustainability model based on Ibn Haldun’s teaching of sustainability. Religious coloring refers to the spirituality, which is re-discovered in modern ages and transferred to the workplace. Spirituality stimulates virtuousness at personal and organizational level, which in turn generates managerial sustainability meaning the lifespan of a company. While personal virtuousness refers social ethics, organizational level virtuousness could be considered as Corporate Social Responsibility. Secondly, it attempts to evaluate the relevance of Ibn Haldun’s approach to contemporary business organizations. In order to demonstrate the relationship between spirituality, virtuousness, CSR, and sustainability; data collected from Corporate Knights’ Global 100 companies were analyzed using structural equation modelling. According to the results, while workplace spirituality leads to ethical conduct and higher CSR/CS score, the relationship between spirituality or CSR/CS and financial performance is not significant. However, it seems that higher lifespan of business enterprises is related to their CSR/CS score.

Purpose This study aims to examine the relationship between environmental cost (EC) on organisational performance (OPM) through an environmental management system (EMS) as the mediating variable. Design/methodology/approach A total of 2,600 manufacturers were identified and consequently selected as the entire study population. Additionally, this study used the structural equation modelling technique to identify the mediator effects of EMS between EC and OPM. Findings The EC and EMS relationship on OPM produced direct and indirect consequences. Hence, it is concluded that manufacturing industry in Malaysia are focused on the OPM when implementing EC and EMS. Originality/value The model would incorporate EC and EMS implementation on OPM in the Malaysian manufacturing industry. This study could also be advantageous to the industry in improving EC, EMS and OPM.

The present study aimed at testing a model developed to uncover the relationships among social media addiction, cognitive absorption, and self-esteem. This studys’ sample consisted of 361 university students, 198 of whom were females, and 163 were males. Data were collected using the Social Media Addiction Scale (SMAS), the Cognitive Absorption Scale (CAS), and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES). Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was used to analyse the data. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between cognitive absorption and social media addiction; thus, cognitive absorption predicted social media addiction. A negative and significant relationship between self-esteem and social media addiction was also found; thus, self-esteem predicted social media addiction.

Background/Aim. To reduce the risk of burnout development of medical professionals, it is important to identify the contributing factors as early as in their schooling years. The aim of this research is to propose a model that will determine the relationship between the coping strategies medical high school and medical faculty students use, and burnout. Methods. The cross-sectional study included 164 medical high school students (80.5% female and 19.5% male students) and 344 students of the University of Belgrade - Faculty of Medicine (76.9% female and 23.1% male students). The model exploring the relationship between coping strategies (measured by Brief COPE scale) and burnout (measured by CBI-S scale) was tested using structural equation modelling (SEM) analysis. Results. When coping with stress, medical high school students use Acceptance, Venting, Behavioural Disengagement, and Planning that increase their burnout, and they do not use any strategies that would help them reduce burnout. When coping with stress, medical faculty students use Planning, Acceptance, Humour, Venting, Behavioural Disengagement, Self-Blame, and Substance Use that increase their burnout and Positive Reframing which helps them reduce burnout. Conclusion. The results of this research show an evident lack of use of adaptive coping strategies with both groups of respondents. Proper education would help them replace these dysfunctional coping strategies with more constructive ones.

This study aims to investigate the effect of soft skills and ethics and value on the employers’ willingness to continue recruiting Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) graduates, together with the moderating effect of knowledge on the relationship between soft skills and the employers’ willingness to continue recruiting UMT graduates. The study’s respondents comprised of 208 employers in Malaysia who responded through an online survey using Google Forms. The survey data was then analyzed using the Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM), indicating that soft skills positively affected the employers’ willingness to continue recruiting UMT graduates. Nevertheless, ethics and value were found to be insignificant factors on the employers’ willingness to continue recruiting UMT graduates. It was also revealed that knowledge had the moderating effect on the relationship between soft skills and the employers’ willingness to continue recruiting UMT graduates. Therefore, universities were recommended to invest in soft skills and knowledge education to ensure that graduates met the employers’ professional recruitment standards in areas of expertise.
