Explains the curricula included in the proposed higher education of the future rulers: arithmetic, geometry, stereometry, astronomy, harmony, and dialectic. Once again addresses questions of what Plato thought about mathematical objects and how he talks about these in Book VII of the Republic. Considers debates about just how and why Plato assigned such an important role to mathematical studies in the training of the power of knowledge for the future rulers. Considers the relationship of “formal” as opposed to “empirical” study, particularly in Plato’s requirement of astronomy as the penultimate mathematical study. Discusses what we can discern about Plato’s conception of dialectic and how that fits as the final element in the “highest studies” that prepare the future rulers to begin to engage in political rule. Shows how in spite of these studies culminating in the highest cognitive achievements, they must be followed by fifteen years of political apprenticeship, and why only after this training can Plato’s best students become philosopher rulers.

Missing link smell occurs when developers contribute to the same source code without communicating with each other. Existing studies have analyzed the relationship of missing link smells with code smell and developer contribution. However, the productivity of developers involved in missing link smell has not been explored yet. This study investigates how productivity differs between smelly and non-smelly developers. For this purpose, the productivity of smelly and non-smelly developers of seven open-source projects are analyzed. The result shows that the developers not involved in missing link smell have more productivity than the developers involved in smells. The observed difference is also found statistically significant.

The article reveals pedagogical practice as an important component of the formation of the methodological competence of future teachers. Methodological competence as an important tool for the teacher training is examined in the relationship of its structural components. It has been shown that among all key competencies for future teachers training the mastering the methodical competence means of pedagogical practice is absolutely important since it reflects the ability of future teachers to effectively engage in educational activities, to creatively implement the acquired theoretical and practical experience involving effective technology training and development. The article reveals the results of an empirical study aimed at revealing the dynamics of the formation of key competencies in the context of early professionalization. The lack of methodological competence as a new integrative personality issue of future teachers is assumed to become a barrier in the situation of the fulfilling professional tasks. The following methodologies were used in the empirical study: B.Dodonov's methodology "The Formula of Motivation"; the methodology of T. Dubovitska "The Level of Professional orientation". In order to study the personality-reflexive criterion as one of the components of the methodological competence of future teachers, the methodology of A. Lazukin and N. Kalin "Creativity Manifestation" has been adapted and, moreover, the author's questionnaire has been used. The sample consisted of 111 teachers and 362 students, 186 students of which belonged to the experimental group (EG), and 176 – to the control one (CG).
