Effects of Group Norms and Learning on Unethical Decision Behavior
Keyword(s):
This research evaluated ethical decision-making behavior under two different contingencies. When 87 students were presented the “fact” that 20% of the salesmen permitted kickbacks, their subsequent ethical behavior was lower than when they were informed that 80% of the salesmen provided kickbacks. Persons scoring high on Machiavellianism were also less ethical.
