Abstract As number of studies show, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) have become important factor of economic activity worldwide. This article presents a proposal of a theoretical approach to contemporary geography of economic activity – a phenomena narrowed here to business processes usually referred to as information or knowledge-based sector of the economy. The reasoning is based on a theoretical model presented by Michael Storper that has been developed further. The output shows the existence of a distinctive paradox of digital era: the ICT potentially being able to overcome spatial barriers, lead to refocusing on spatial dimension of business. It is concluded that ICT introduce new dimension of division of business process and labor, namely a spatial one. It is leading to worldwide reconfiguration of the geography of economic activity developed under fordist regime of production – hitherto separate areas and territories are being transformed into network economy of distant yet linked places.

The article will consider information and communication technologies used in business processes, inter-preted for effective work in the educational process, of a teacher with students. Also, the article will describe several business management tools that have worked well in the Russian market: Bitrix24 and the Planfix management system. The author analyzes the entities that contribute to increasing the profit of enterprises having these automated information systems that will be used as enhancing the effectiveness of students, that is, students and the teacher will be considered as clients and the company negotiating through CRM or ERP systems. Since it is such cooperation that sets them apart and leads them to the leaders in the Russian and international markets. An analysis of 30 students divided into two groups will be conducted. A teacher works with one group using an unconventional method, using business tools, while the process proceeds in the other with traditional teaching methods. The key objective of this study is to show related aspects of the functioning of ICTs that are subtle to business processes in the education system. Since a growing number of universities are instilling their teachers to work on various cloud systems, for example, DGUNH has a Cisco platform that allows teachers to track students' actions at various intervals.

The relevance of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in the field of Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) cannot be overemphasised in the knowledge-based and globalised society. The world of works is in as continuous a state of change as ICT itself, thus posing more challenges to the workers in the 21st century and the institutions responsible for their preparation. Therefore, this chapter discusses the challenges and prospects of ICT in teaching TVE towards globalisation. The chapter points out clearly the meaning, philosophy, and objectives of TVET, concept and types of ICT, the need for effective utilisation of ICTs and its role in TVET, the challenges and solutions to the effective utilisation of ICTs in TVET, and the prospect of using ICT in teaching TVET. The chapter concludes by suggesting solutions for proper planning, management, and effective utilisation of ICTs resources in TVET.

This chapter provides a systematic multidisciplinary framework that defines the role of technology in leveraging IC across borders and between headquarters and subsidiaries. In reaching this conclusion, this chapter investigates the strategic importance of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in the management of Intellectual Capital (IC) within a Multinational Company (MNC) ecosystem. The chapter addresses the transubstantiation of MNC into boundaryless Global Knowledge-Based Organization (GKB-MNC) which ultimately propagates into Learning MNC (LMNC). The latter is a suggested MNC category that sustains competitive advantage through systemic adoption of “Knowledge Iterative Supply Network (KISN)” model proposed by the authors. The chapter suggests a new multinational ICT/IC governance strategy that handles the emerging complexities associated with modern intangible resource synthesis.

In this context, standards, frameworks, technologies, and infrastructures supporting collaborative business, in a networked environment, become key factors in achieving environments with a desired high level of collaboration and inter- and intra-organization business processes alignment. The aim of this chapter is to underline the main issues, trends, and opportunities related to business integration from a technological perspective, analyzing and discussing the most relevant (existing and still under development) business integration reference models, frameworks, standards, technologies, and supporting infrastructures, and to briefly present relevant research projects in the area of business networking. A special emphasis is made on frameworks such as ebXML and RosettaNet, and the importance of papiNet, BPLE4WS, and freebXML is underlined. Challenges regarding self-forming networked organizations are also advanced.

Conceptual foundations of organizational and economic support for the development of enterprises in the hospitality industry have been developed, taking into account the level of use of information and communication technologies. It has been determined that the main results of the influence of information technologies on the hospitality industry are the optimization of business processes, as well as the transformation of the target consumer of hospitality services. The types of information and communication technologies are systematized depending on the direction of the business processes of the cycle of providing hospitality services. It has been substantiated that through the active use of information and communication technologies, hospitality industry enterprises satisfy the needs of customers in full in accordance with modern requirements. The relationship was established between the results of assessing the level of organizational and economic support for the development of information and communication technologies and the strategic choice of enterprises in the hospitality industry. Three types of strategies are identified – information expansion, improvement, retention and further development – depending on the low, medium and high level of development of information and communication technologies, respectively. The directions of increasing the level of development of information and communication technologies of the hospitality industry at different levels are proposed. The developed theoretical and methodological provisions can be useful in the formation of the concept of strategic development of the hospitality industry. The use of the proposed toolkit reflects the results, both quantitatively (increasing demand for hospitality services, improving financial performance, etc.) and in a qualitative form (improving the quality of service, creating a positive image, etc.).

XXI century emphasized humanity to embrace the digital era after a reality of Third and Fourth Industrial Revolutions, nowadays dictating new terms of social networking. It is expected that information and communication technologies integrated with value-based medicine will significantly impact healthcare delivery to tremendous number of patients with socially important noncommunicable diseases. Cardiovascular illnesses comprise the greatest part of such pathologies. Hypertension (HTN) being the most prevalent cardiovascular disease is also the key modifiable cardiovascular risk factor yet seems to be an attractive target for both value-based concept and telehealth interventions. Present review addresses up-to-date science on telehealth, sets out the main well-known, but yet unsolved challenges in management of HTN along with the new approaches involving telemedicine programs, digital health outlooks. The main barriers of telehealth implementation are also considered along with the possible solutions.

The development of information and communication technologies (ICT) has a significant impact on the business model of companies operating in the financial sector. Digital transformation leads to changing existing business model rapidly, as well as necessity of developing new processes specifically related to the use of ICT in business processes, development of new products and updating existing ones. At present, changes in the demand for ICT related processes in financial sector are observed both through the development of different technologies and their applications core or ancillary processes (e.g. innovations in payment systems including crypto currencies, blockchain-assisted smart contract, credit markets and insurance including peer-to-peer lending). Based on the opportunities offered by ICT, new business models need to be developed in the financial sector to transform these capabilities into new products and services that respond to changing customer demand. The aim of research to investigate the changes taking place in financial sector in the light of developments in ICT for acquisition of necessary competencies. Research methodology includes systematic review of scientific literature, analysis of selected financial sector statistics, semi-structured industry expert interviews and statistics analysis. The empirical study is limited to the financial sector of Latvia. Although due to the global nature of the financial sector the research findings could be applied internationally.

The enhanced use of information and communication technologies (ICT) has a strong impact on business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-consumer (B2C) relationships as well as the way the key business processes are conducted. It can save costs and time, enable businesses to reach a wider market and to respond more quickly to the customer demands. These benefits open up new ways of doing international business. The policy objective is to encourage the integration of e-business into normal business by promoting the take-up of e-business services. Information and communication technologies are necessary to be seen as a tool for the increase of prosperity and competitiveness.

Various contemporary information and communication technologies (ICT) have revolutionized the global computing environment. This impacts most companies, especially traditional stand-alone ERP systems are inadequate to handle the current requirements of logistics applications. This paper studies the integration of RFID and mobile technologies with web-enabled applications to an existing in-house ERP system. This enables management to utilize accurate information for analyzing their business performance and then perform any other further decisions quickly. Benefits include retrieving information more easily, reducing order processing and delivery time, increasing sales performance, enhancing communication with customer, and improving data accuracy for in-house ERP System. In particular, the authors illustrate how this infrastructure can help the integration of logistic processes and the handling of exceptions in key business processes. The authors further evaluate the approach with respect to the requirements of key system stakeholders.
