The major problem of unemployment has brought into focus the importance of small scale, agro and rural industries as well as the development of entrepreneurship in the related fields. Women in our country are playing an equally important role through development of their resource-fullness and their skills. Entrepreneurial skill of women shows the way for the empowerment of women and social justice. It facilitates the women to become economic independence, self reliance, political, social and legal awareness, self-confidence and positive attitude among the women community. The main aim of this study is to identify the general profile of Self Help Groups in Tirunelveli district and analyze the level of imperative entrepreneurial skills of members in Self Help Groups. For this, the opinion of Animators has collected from each Self Help Group towards the entrepreneurial skills of members acquired through the Group. This study shows the fact that the self confidence level and leadership quality level of members have increased after joining SHGs

Women empowerment is emerging as a key challenge for all the communities of a country specially India. In a number of countries, women have to struggle for their rights and living values. To beat such issues various steps have been taken by private, public and non-governmental organizations. A Self Help Group is one of these steps, which is radically contributing in the way of women empowerment. Self Help Groups give opportunities to the poor women to manage their lives through savings along with running small-scale businesses. Numerous studies have been conducted and results show that the Self Help Group is crucial for rural finance services and is also helpful in enhancing work opportunities. The present study is based on quantitative impact analysis of SHGs of Hisar district, state Haryana, India. Data has been collected and analyzed through questionnaires and that was moreover an interview. Target for the respondents were women living in this district who had joined SHGs. Descriptive statistics of this study show the significance of the SHGs in the way of improvement of women’s socio-economic conditions in the district.

The self-help group (SHG) approach is a crucial tool to eliminate poverty and improve the status of women entrepreneurship and financial support for the better means of living. The present study is a descriptive study of the SHGs. A sample of 60 SHGs consisting of 300 members have been taken to study the various aspects of the SHGs. A multistage purposive cum simple random sampling method was adopted. 54.66 per cent of the respondents belonged to middle aged group followed by 50.33 per cent having land in between 1.0 acre-4 acres, educated upto HSLC (40.33%). Small scale business like selling agrobased items was the major occupation (47 per cent) of the members of SHGs. Majority (82.00 %) of the SHGs members belonged to nuclear family followed by semi pucca (41.00 per cent), and small family (79.33 per cent). 64.09 per cent of members belonged to only one social organization, 68.67% respondents were encouraged to take loans from SHGs / Govt. fund and 70.00 per cent members were increased their asset value. The major finding of the study reported that level of income of women has increased very much after joining the group and has positive relation between income and savings of women group members in the study area.
