One major problem facing some environments, such as insurance companies and government institutions, is when a massive amount of documents has to be processed every day. Thus, an automatic stamp recognition system is necessary. The extraction and recognition of a general stamp is not a simple task because it may have various shapes, sizes, backgrounds, patterns, and colors. Moreover, the stamp can be printed on documents with bad quality and rotation with various angles. Our proposed method presents a new approach for the preprocessing and recognition of color stamp images. It consists of four stages, which are stamp extraction, preprocessing, feature extraction, and matching. Stamp extraction is achieved to isolate complex background and remove unwanted data or noise that is surrounding the stamp area. The preprocessing stage is necessary to improve the stamp brightness and eliminate the rotation that occurs during the stamping process. In feature extraction, the extracted information will be representing the desirable feature vector in order to discriminate between stamps using local distribution of statistical features and Haar wavelet with histogram moment. Finally, each extracted feature vector will be saved in the dedicated system database for matching purpose. The test results indicate that the proposed system provides a high recognition rate for two sets of the proposed features (i.e., 99.29% recognition rate for the local distribution of statistical features and 96.01% recognition rate for the Haar wavelet transform with histogram and moment).

Feature extraction plays an important role in text recognition as it aims to capture essential characteristics of the text image. Feature extraction algorithms widely range between robust and hard to extract features and noise sensitive and easy to extract features. Among those feature types are statistical features which are derived from the statistical distribution of the image pixels. This paper presents a novel method for feature extraction where simple statistical features are extracted from a one-pixel wide window that slides across the text line. The feature set is clustered in the feature space using vector quantization. The feature vector sequence is then injected to a classification engine for training and recognition purposes. The recognition system is applied to a data corpus which includes cursive Arabic text of more than 600 A4-size sheets typewritten in multiple computer-generated fonts. The system performance is compared to a previously published system from the literature with a similar engine but a different feature set.

The entire character recognition system is logically characterized into different sections like Scanning, Pre-processing, Classification, Processing, and Post-processing. In the targeted system, the scanned image is first passed through pre-processing modules then feature extraction, classification in order to achieve a high recognition rate. This paper describes mainly on Feature extraction and Classification technique. These are the methodologies which play an important role to identify offline handwritten characters specifically in Gujarati language. Feature extraction provides methods with the help of which characters can identify uniquely and with high degree of accuracy. Feature extraction helps to find the shape contained in the pattern. Several techniques are available for feature extraction and classification, however the selection of an appropriate technique based on its input decides the degree of accuracy of recognition.

In speech word recognition systems, feature extraction and recognition plays a most significant role. More number of feature extraction and recognition methods are available in the existing speech word recognition systems. In most recent Tamil speech word recognition system has given high speech word recognition performance with PAC-ANFIS compared to the earlier Tamil speech word recognition systems. So the investigation of speech word recognition by various recognition methods is needed to prove their performance in the speech word recognition. This paper presents the investigation process with well known Artificial Intelligence method as Feed Forward Back Propagation Neural Network (FFBNN) and Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). The Tamil speech word recognition system with PAC-FFBNN performance is analyzed in terms of statistical measures and Word Recognition Rate (WRR) and compared with PAC-ANFIS and other existing Tamil speech word recognition systems.

Multimodal biometrics technology has recently gained interest due to its capacity to overcome certain inherent limitations of the single biometric modalities and to improve the overall recognition rate. A common biometric recognition system consists of sensing, feature extraction, and matching modules. The robustness of the system depends much more on the reliability to extract relevant information from the single biometric traits. This paper proposes a new feature extraction technique for a multimodal biometric system using face–iris traits. The iris feature extraction is carried out using an efficient multi-resolution 2D Log-Gabor filter to capture textural information in different scales and orientations. On the other hand, the facial features are computed using the powerful method of singular spectrum analysis (SSA) in conjunction with the wavelet transform. SSA aims at expanding signals or images into interpretable and physically meaningful components. In this study, SSA is applied and combined with the normal inverse Gaussian (NIG) statistical features derived from wavelet transform. The fusion process of relevant features from the two modalities are combined at a hybrid fusion level. The evaluation process is performed on a chimeric database and consists of Olivetti research laboratory (ORL) and face recognition technology (FERET) for face and Chinese academy of science institute of automation (CASIA) v3.0 iris image database (CASIA V3) interval for iris. Experimental results show the robustness.

To address the problem that the dimension of the feature vector extracted by Local Binary Pattern (LBP) for face recognition is too high and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) extract features are not the best classification features, an efficient feature extraction method using LBP, PCA and Maximum scatter difference (MSD) has been introduced in this paper. The original face image is firstly divided into sub-images, then the LBP operator is applied to extract the histogram feature. and the feature dimensions are further reduced by using PCA. Finally,MSD is performed on the reduced PCA-based feature. The experimental results on ORL and Yale database demonstrate that the proposed method can classify more effectively and can get higher recognition rate than the traditional recognition methods.

As a promising biometric system, finger vein identification has been studied widely and many relevant researches have been proposed. However, it is hard to extract a satisfied finger vein pattern due to the various vein thickness, illumination, low contrast region, and noise existing. And most of the feature extraction algorithms rely on high-quality finger vein database and take a long time for a large dimensional feature vector. In this paper, we proposed two block selection methods which are based on the estimate of the amount of information in each block and the contribution of block location by looking at recognition rate of each block position to reduce feature extraction time and matching time. The specific approach is to find out some local finger vein areas with low-quality and noise, which will be useless for feature description. Local binary pattern (LBP) descriptors are proposed to extract the finger vein pattern feature. Two finger vein databases are taken to test our algorithm performance. Experimental results show that proposed block selection algorithms can reduce the feature vector dimensionality in a large extent.

A neural network of cascaded Restricted Coulomb Energy (RCE) nets is constructed for the recognition of two-dimensional objects. A number of RCE nets are cascaded together to form a classifier where the overlapping decision regions are progressively resolved by a set of cascaded networks. Similarities among objects which have complex decision boundaries in the feature space are resolved by this multi-net approach. The generalization ability of an RCE net recognition system, referring to the ability of the system to correctly recognize a new pattern even when the number of learning exemplars is small, is increased by the proposed coarse-to-fine learning strategy. A feature extraction technique is used to map the geometrical shape information of an object into an ordered feature vector of fixed length. This feature vector is then used as an input to the neural network. The feature vector is invariant to object changes such as positional shift, rotation, scaling, illumination variance, variation of camera setup, perspective distortion, and noise distortion. Experimental results for recognition of several objects are also presented. A correct recognition rate of 100% was achieved for both the training and the testing input patterns.

The disorder based on neurological can be considered as epilepsy that leads to the recurrent seizures in occurrence. The electronic characteristics of brain can be monitor by the electroencephalogram (EEG). It is most commonly used in the medical application. The function monitoring records can be non linear as well as non stationary functioning. The present work produce a novel methodology, it is depend on Fast Fourier series (FFS) and wavelet transform based on Haar. These methods are used for the various kinds of epileptic seizure the electroencephalogram based signal. The detection of boundary is occur by the representation of scale-space and it also adapted to the image segmentation of the spectrum depends on the FBSE that can be obtained with the electroencephalogram based signal and the purpose of the EWT is also used to attain the narrow sub band based signals. These image segmentation and classification process implementation by FPGA based microprocessor and systems. The FFS-HMT can produce the sub band signal from the Hilbert marginal spectrum it is represented as HMS. The HMS can be used to compute the line length and the entropy characteristics due to the corresponding various kinds of the level based oscillatory of the electroencephalogram signal. Here we apply the selected feature extraction depends on the ranking parallel vector. With the use of an electroencephalogram signal, the robust random forest is utilized to classify selected feature extraction in normal and epileptic participants. The assessment of performance based on classification can be measured in FPGA microprocessor the term of classification accuracy for different sample length of EEG. The current methodology aids neurologists in distinguishing between healthy and epileptic people using electroencephalogram signals.
