Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) merupakan konsep subset dari Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANET) sebagai teknologi yang memungkinkan komunikasi Inter Vehicle Communication (IVC) dan Roadside-toVehicle (RVC).VANET dikarakteristikkan dengan membangun jaringan ad hoc yang dibentuk dari nodenode berupa kendaraan bermobilitas tinggi yang dibatasi dengan aturan lalu lintas sehingga pergerakannya disesuaikan dengan pola tertentu, tidak seperti MANET yang pergerakannya bisa random tanpa ada batasan. Dengan demikian, protokol routing konvensional berbasis topologi pada MANET dinilai tidak cocok untuk VANET. Protokol routing berbasis posisi sepeti GPSR dan GyTAR dinilai cocok untuk VANET. Hal ini tak lain karena aspek dinamika topologi pada VANET yang dapat berdampak nyata pada analisis protokol routing. Dari hasil simulasi diperoleh bahwa GyTAR unggul pada skenario lingkungan perkotaan dilihat dari seluruh parameter end-to-end delay, packet delivery ratio, packet loss dan normalized routing overhead yang lebih baik dari GPSR dengan rata-rata nilai masing-masing, yakni 2,294 ms, 0,958, 4,19%, dan 0,482. Sementara pada skenario lingkungan jalan tol GPSR lebih unggul dibandingkan GyTAR dengan rata-rata nilai end-to-end delay, packet delivery ratio, dan packet loss sebesar 2,639 ms, 0,920, dan 7,923%; namun dengan perolehan NRO yang lebih kecil oleh GyTAR, yakni sebesar 1,725.Kata Kunci: VANET, MANET , GPSR, GyTAR, IVC, SUMO

Pekanbaru city is a large area, therefore traffic congestion often occurs due to the density of society’s vehicles. From this problem, it is needed a technology that can exchange information between vehicles. Information Technology that can involve many vehicles with special network types without dependence on an infrastructure is Ad Hoc Network. One type of this network is Vehicular Ad Hoc Network (VANET). VANET is a new concept in enabling communication between Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V). For efficient data packet delivery, VANET requires a routing protocol. In this research, for simulated and analyzed performance is used the Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) and Temporally Ordered Routing Algorithm (TORA) protocol. NS-2 is used to simulated a moved nodes, SUMO software is used to simulated real map of SKA Mall crossroad and parameter the quality of performance routing protocol DSR can determined by End to End Delay, Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR) and Routing Overhead (RO). This simulation uses scenario 100 nodes, 150 nodes, 200 nodes and 250 nodes. The simulation results with the scenario of changing the number of nodes, the DSR routing protocol produces better performance with an average of  End to End Delay is 0.1066 s, average of PDR is 95.45% and average of RO is 1.0076. While the TORA routing protocol has an average of End to End Delay is 0.1163s, average of PDR is 93.49% and average of RO is 1.0801. And in the scenario of node speed changes, the TORA routing protocol produces better performance with an average of End to End Delay is 0.0861 s and average of PDR 97.37%. While the DSR routing protocol is better with an average of RO is 1.0076.

Mobile Ad-Hoc Network (MANET) is a development of the Ad-Hoc Network, where the nodes of this network have dynamic mobility. There are several types of routing protocols in MANET, one of which is AOMDV. Route discovery on the AOMDV routing protocol is done by calculating the distance based on the number of hops. If the number of hops increased, it may cause a considerable delay and a decrease in throughput. This study compares the performance of the AOMDV routing protocol with the Path Aware-AOMDV (PA-AOMDV) routing protocol. PA-AOMDV routing protocol is obtained through modifications to the performance of the AOMDV protocol with the Path Aware SHORT algorithm. The Path Aware SHORT algorithm is a method to reduce the number of hops. SHORT improves routing optimization by monitoring routes and optimizing these routes that have better paths. The performance of both protocols will be seen based on four parameters, namely throughput, average end-to-end delay, packet delivery ratio, and routing overhead. Result shows that the throughput increased for 50 nodes is 61,84% and for 100 nodes is 45,2%, average end-to-end delay decreased for 50 nodes is 0,066% and for 100 nodes 0,12%, packet delivery ratio increased for 50 nodes is 60,87% and for 100 nodes 82,02%, and routing overhead decreased for 50 nodes is 67,07% and 100 nodes 45,36%.

A Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) is a wireless ad hoc network that is formed between vehicles on an on demand basis. A lot of research work around the world is being conducted to design the routing protocols for VANETs. In this paper, we examine the significance Greedy Forwarding with Border Node based approach for VANETs to optimize path length between vehicles in different traffic scenarios. This protocol is called Border Node Greedy Forwarding (BNGF) since it uses border nodes with Greedy Forwarding. We categorize BNGF as BNGF-H for highway and BNGF-C for city traffic scenarios. We have simulated this protocol using NS-2 simulator and calculated the performance in terms of end-to-end delay and packet delivery ratio. We compare both the methods for highway and city traffic scenarios. The result clearly show that the end-to-end delay for BNGF-C is significantly lower and packet delivery ratio is higher than BNGF-H.

In Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANET) nodes often change their location independently where neither fixed nor centralized infrastructure is present. Nodes communicate with each other directly or via intermediate nodes. The advantages of the MANET layout lead to self-structure and compatibility to most important functions such as traffic distribution and load balancing. Whenever the host moves rapidly in the network the topology becomes updated due to which the structure of MANET varies accordingly. In the literature, different routing protocols have been studied and compared by researchers. Still, there are queries regarding the performance of these protocols under different scenarios. MANETs are not based on a predesigned structure. In this paper, the performance assessment of the Quality of Services (QoS) for different protocols such as Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV), Temporally Ordered Routing Algorithm (TORA) and Zone Routing Protocol (ZRP) in the existence of the various number of communicating nodes is studied. The performance matrices throughput, end – to – end delay and packet delivery ratio are considered for simulations. Ns 2.35 simulator is used for carrying out these simulations. Results are compared for AODV, TORA, and ZRP routing protocols. The results show that AODV and TORA perform well in end – to – end delay as compared to zone routing protocol. Zone routing protocol performs well in packet delivery ratio and throughput as compared to both the other protocols.

Vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET) is an autonomous system of mobile vehicles in which vehicles are a source of information. In VANET, direct communication between vehicles provides high-level safety and hassle-free drive. Large moving vehicles such as trucks or buses may affect direct communication of vehicles as a nonline of sight (NLOS) may occur. NLOS restricts direct communication of vehicles. Even the corresponding vehicle is within the communication range of the communicating vehicle. To overcome the NLOS problem and verify the location of the vehicles, this chapter has presented a routing mechanism, namely Directional Location Verification and Routing (DLVR) in Vehicular Ad-hoc Network. DLVR model prevents the false location information of the nodes by reduced packet drop and increased packet delivery ratio. Before transmitting data packets DLVR verifies data packets through reliability check. Through simulation work, it has shown the proposed DLVR model reduced packet drop and increased packet delivery ratio which increases the network performance.

A MANET is a category of ad hoc protocol that could vary positions and track itself on the flutter. It utilizes wireless connections that are attached to several networks. They include wirelessly in a self-configured, self-healing network while not having permanent communication linked in a collection of mobile networks. The network topology of nodes typically varies in MANET, and nodes are free to stir errantly and independently as a router as they accelerate traffic to more nodes within the network. Ad hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) was employed for node selection to attain the shortest path strategy in existing techniques. In the proposed system, the hybrid AODV (HAODV) technique incorporates the MFR (Most Forward within Radius) technique to detect the shortest path routing algorithm. The MFR method was deployed for selecting the neighbor node, while HAODV was deployed to find the shortest path. To find the shortest path based on the updating equation, the Firefly algorithm is also implemented into the Hybrid AODV. The proposed work’s performance is calculated by different network parameters like the end to end delay, average routing overhead, throughput, and packet delivery ratio. After comparing AODV and DSR algorithms, the proposed algorithm (HAODV) shows improvement in packet delivery ratio, end-to-end delay, Routing overhead, and throughput.

Introduction: The aim of the securing energy routing protocol, is to provide the countermeasures to the attacks par-ticularly to the black hole in mobile ad-hoc network, and enhancing the network performance metric throughput al-so reducing the end-to-end delay between the nodes in the network.To build the protocol that enhances the perfor-mance of the network by modifying the existing DSR protocol by introducing new route discovery mechanism in the proposed protocol. Method: The proposed protocol implementation has two phases, route request/reply phase and route confirm phas-es. During the route discovery process, the route discovery from the source to destination process are described by sending the RREQ packet from the source hub as shown in Fig. 1(a), when it does not have one accessible and crav-ings a route to a destination. The source node transmits the RREQ to its associate nodes and the destination node re-ply with RREP. When the source receives reply message, the source node respond with reverse path with a confirm RCON message and providing security to the nodes in the network. Results: To verify the performance of the proposed protocol against the existing DSR protocol are compared with respect to various network metrics like end-to-end delay and packet delivery ratio and validated the result by com-paring both routing algorithm using Network Simulator 2. Conclusion: The results of the proposed SERP strongly safeguard against the attacks in the network and the packet delivery ratio is increased compared with the DSR also the end-to-end delay is reduced in the proposed protocol. Discussion: Mobile ad-hoc networks are being dynamic in nature, it associates with issues relating to secure routing, energy and are generally vulnerable to several types of attacks. MANET merupakan tipe jaringan khusus yang mampu melibatkan banyak orang atau peralatan komunikasi tanpa ketergantungan terhadap suatu infrastruktur. AODV dan DSDV merupakan contoh routing protocol yang efisien untuk jaringan Ad Hoc pada tipe routing protocol masing-masing. AODV untuk tipe routing protocol reactive dan DSDV untuk tipe routing protocol proactive. Setiap routing protocol tentunya memiliki kemampuan masing-masing, sehingga Quality of Service (QoS) untuk setiap routing protocol akan berbeda juga. Dalam penelitian melakukan analisis QoS pada routing protocol AODV dan DSDV dengan parameter yang di uji adalah Packet Delivery Ratio, Throughput, dan end-to-end Delay. Hasil pengujian memperlihatkan bahwa masing-masing routing protocol yang diteliti, routing protocol AODV memiliki waktu yang lebih cepat dalam proses pengiriman packet ke node selanjutnya. Untuk jumlah paket yang terkirim routing protocol AODV lebih baik dibandingkan DSDV.

Vehicular Ad-Hoc Network (VANET) is a wireless routing network which used ad hoc network system as the basis. VANET was formed to give solution to the unclear network infrastructure or frequently changing network topology. The change of speed and the nodes amount in an area influenced the overhead level in sending message and end to end delay with low packet loss. The right routing protocol selection has an important role in guarantee the Quality of Service in VANET which needs low delay and overhead. This study analyzed the Fisheye State Routing (FSR) protocol performance as a proactive routing protocol that renew the table routing in certain period and Zone Routing Protocol (ZRP) as a hybrid protocol that uses zone and hop distant to decide the table routing renewal in sending data with Cisco codec G 711 standard in highway areas using NS-2.31 and NS-2.35 and traffic simulator SUMO 0.12.3. Moreover, the measured metrics performances were Average end-to-end delay, Normalized Routing Load, Average Throughput, Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), and Routing Overhead.

Background: Zone Routing Protocol is evolving as an efficient hybrid routing protocol with an extremely high potentiality owing to the integration of two radically different schemes, proactive and reactive in such a way that a balance between control overhead and latency is achieved. Its performance is impacted by various network conditions such as zone radius, network size, mobility, etc. Objective: The research work described in this paper focuses on improving the performance of zone routing protocol by reducing the amount of reactive traffic which is primarily responsible for degraded network performance in case of large networks. The usage of route aggregation approach helps in reducing the routing overhead and also help achieve performance optimization. Methods: The performance of proposed protocol is assessed under varying node size and mobility. Further applied is the firefly algorithm which aims to achieve global optimization that is quite difficult to achieve due to non-linearity of functions and multimodality of algorithms. For performance evaluation a set of benchmark functions are being adopted like, packet delivery ratio and end-to-end delay to validate the proposed approach. Results: Simulation results depict better performance of leading edge firefly algorithm when compared to zone routing protocol and route aggregation based zone routing protocol. The proposed leading edge FRA-ZRP approach shows major improvement between ZRP and FRA-ZRP in Packet Delivery Ratio. FRA-ZRP outperforms traditional ZRP and RA-ZRP even in terms of End to End Delay by reducing the delay and gaining a substantial QOS improvement. Conclusion: The achievement of proposed approach can be credited to the formation on zone head and attainment of route from the head hence reduced queuing of data packets due to control packets, by adopting FRA-ZRP approach. The routing optimized zone routing protocol using Route aggregation approach and FRA augments the QoS, which is the most crucial parameter for routing performance enhancement of MANET.
