This paper discusses the educational context of social network sites (SNSs) and the manner in which they are adopted as Europeanization tools to develop the main EU education priorities. The Erasmus + (E+) context, articulated on networks of education bodies, denotes a promising ground to investigate social and digital trends emerging within institutionalized education communities. The research approach counts on a sample of 518 organizations aligned to a set of standards regulated within the institutionalized networking frame of the E+ program. Due to the compliance requirements of E+ guidelines, this work proposes a theoretical juxtaposition of the Community of Inquiry framework and the E+ framework. Final results show an EU educational trend verging to informal affordances and non-formal education features.

The paper considers the questions of substantiation of relevance of educational robotics implementation in the learning process of Ukrainian schools. The current state of development of robotics as an applied field and as an educational trend is analyzed to solve the research problems. The analysis of the global trends in the development of robotics as an applied field has shown that robotics is one of the most intensively developing fields of science and technology. This leads to the conclusion that there is a need to train relevant specialists and to update the curriculum in school and university education according to the daily requirements. Therefore, the issue of robotics implementation into the learning process of secondary and higher education institutions as an obligatory component of training of future specialists in robotics and future robotics teachers is of particular importance. The analysis of the robotics development as an educational trend has shown that educational robotics is one of the most perspective and popular trends in STEM education. In addition, it is determined that learning via robotics provides students with the opportunity to solve real life problems that require knowledge of STEM subjects. Based on previous research, the author also clarifies the concept of educational robotics, substantiates the aim and main tasks of its implementation into the educational process of educational institutions, which, as a consequence, leads to the importance of solving the issue of training future robotics teachers. The paper also presents and analyzes the results of the conducted research among educators and scientists on determining the state of teaching of robotics in Ukrainian schools. Based on the obtained results, we can conclude that there is a need to implement of the educational robotics into the learning process of secondary education institutions as a compulsory component of the school curriculum. In particular, possible ways of implementation of the educational robotics in Ukrainian schools are defined.


The article deals with peculiarities of the process of training economic journalists in the context of contemporary educational challenges and trends. On the basis of generalization of modern Ukrainian media practices, systematization and interpretation of scientific researches, related to the topic of the article, analysis of educational programs and curricula of institutions of higher education, the authors argue the justification and expediency of the specialization "economic journalism" on the problem-thematic principle. The content of the concept ‘economic journalism’ is defined in terms of functional purposefulness, attention is focused on its expressive analyticity. The tasks of the economic segment of Ukrainian journalism are formulated under conditions of deepening democratization processes and development of civil society. The disadvantages of this segment of media discourse are determined (focus on narrow audience, superficiality and unprofessional performance of the coverage of economic issues, selectivity, fragmentation of the media picture of the economic sphere of social activity, etc.). The topicality of specialized training of economic journalists, in particular – and in combination with other subject areas – is emphasized. Content components of economic journalists training is defined as a combination of actual journalistic and economic blocks of knowledge and the involvement of data on processes in related social sectors. Methodological principles, such as: practical orientation, integration nature, use of interactive teaching methods, design technology; effective forms of organization of the process of training journalists of economic specialization (e.g. master classes, different types of practice); work on complex creative projects (television, radio, press, internet, photo projects, etc.) are formulated.

The conceptual and generalizing experience of STEM education implementation presented in Ukraine reflects the realization of the sustainable development goals through educational innovations. The study is based on the premise that STEM is a component of education for sustainable development. This educational trend focuses on the goals of Education for All (EFA), conforms to the ideas of the education-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and relates to solving societal challenges in the long run. It is argued that the concept of STEM seeks to offer non-standard solutions to global issues in the field of sustainable development, and STEM education should be seen as a mechanism to accelerate the achievement of all sustainable development goals (SDG) and a strategy to obtain each of them. The specifics of STEM key ideas as global educational trends in the national Ukrainian public space are demonstrated. The consideration of STEM education as a component of the strategy for sustainable development through the detailing of the structure and implementation principles as well as STEM competencies, which are defined as the expected result and key for the person of the XXI century, is proved. The experience of Ukrainian research initiatives in the field of STEM education in the context of sustainable development is summarized. A full-fledged programme complex for comprehensive, equitable and high-quality education is presented, which combines the following links: research and experimental work of different levels, teacher’s professional development, museums and science centres work, implementation of various educational programmes, festivals and projects to attract young people to STEM, ensuring equal access for girls and boys.

The recognition of prior learning (RPL/PLAR) has been on the margins of Canada’s educational and economic scene for many years. A series of recent developments across Canada prompted this writer to reflect on whether a combination of forces may be moving RPL toward its “tipping point.” In examining this possibility, the article situates the issue educationally, socially, and economically. A developing societal and educational trend is identified and the use of the portfolio as an appropriate response tool is considered. Concluding remarks highlight anticipated and existing areas of resistance to moving the RPL agenda forward.

This paper provides a brief overview of Creative Pedagogy as an educational trend, which was introduced over 30 years ago, in 1989, and has spread extensively around the world since that time. It also demonstrates Creative Pedagogy’s application to Foreign Language Education (FLED) and other subjects. Originally, just as creative thinking is opposed to critical thinking, Creative Pedagogy was opposed to Critical Pedagogy, but it was defined as a formula of invention—absolutely obligatory in patent description in technology and the first time in the history of education—and this made it opposed to all other types of pedagogies.. With the advent of Sozidonics, the science of creativity, where creativity was given a scientific definition, Creative Pedagogy became the only trend in education that is technologically-defined and scientifically-based. When united with Creative Andragogy, it became Creagogy—a generic science of creative education.

The focus of this chapter is on the annual project “Adottiamo i nonni dell’ospizio,” translated “Let’s adopt grandparents in retirement home” (LAGR), winner of the Special Prize of Giornata delle Marche (2008). The main aim of the project is to promote the education of young people to active citizenship. It was developed by the teacher L. Del Papa, with the collaboration of 19 pupils of the 5th class, section C, including a girl suffering from Down’s syndrome and the elderly guests of the Opera Pia Ceci nursing home in Camerano (Italy). The project is part of an educational trend called “the thread that links the senior and youth generations,” sponsored by the USR (Ufficio Scolastico Regionale delle Marche).
