In early project stages often no simulation results are available for dividing wall columns. Hence, shortcut methods are used to estimate suitable vapor and liquid splits. In a previous paper it was shown that Vmin diagrams are a suited tool to satisfy this need. However, it has turned out that it shows weaknesses for columns with finite or non-optimal stages. This contribution closes that gap and presents an extended approach to derive suited initial guesses. For this purpose, the original Vmin diagram is combined with a heuristic approach to calculate Pareto-optimal column designs resulting in a stage-adapted Vmin diagram. A comparative study shows that the new approach is a powerful tool to generate reliable guesses for multiple dividing wall column simulations with finite stage numbers.

This paper proposes a new approach to determining the complex system design for a product mix comprising complex hierarchies of subassembly and components. Pareto Ant Colony Optimisation as an especially effective meta-heuristic for solving the problem of complex system design was introduced in this paper. A Pareto Optimal Set of complex system in which only the non dominated solutions allow ants to deposit pheromones over the time and cost pheromone matrices after certain generation runs. Simulation results show that the model for complex system and the hybrid algorithms are effective to the design of complex system.

This work addresses the problem of target localization in adverse non-line-of-sight (NLOS) environments by using received signal strength (RSS) and time of arrival (TOA) measurements. It is inspired by a recently published work in which authors discuss about a critical distance below and above which employing combined RSS-TOA measurements is inferior to employing RSS-only and TOA-only measurements, respectively. Here, we revise state-of-the-art estimators for the considered target localization problem and study their performance against their counterparts that employ each individual measurement exclusively. It is shown that the hybrid approach is not the best one by default. Thus, we propose a simple heuristic approach to choose the best measurement for each link, and we show that it can enhance the performance of an estimator. The new approach implicitly relies on the concept of the critical distance, but does not assume certain link parameters as given. Our simulations corroborate with findings available in the literature for line-of-sight (LOS) to a certain extent, but they indicate that more work is required for NLOS environments. Moreover, they show that the heuristic approach works well, matching or even improving the performance of the best fixed choice in all considered scenarios.

In this paper, we propose a new approach to breaking down chaotic communication scheme by attacking its encryption keys. A remarkable advancement is that it can decode the hidden message exactly. This makes it become possible to break down some cascaded chaotic communication systems. We also decode digital information from the cascaded heterogeneous chaotic communication system and give the simulation results.

The Series Dynamic Voltage Regulator can compensate the harmonics distortion caused by voltage type harmonic source This paper presents a new approach of detecting harmonic voltage in dq0 coordinates, based on the generalized instantaneous reactive power ,and used in the series dynamic voltage regulator successfully. It is demonstrated by theoretical analysis and simulation results that the proposed detecting method of harmonic voltage is correct and valid.
