This investigation aims to simulate an efficient plant that generates energy through a solar-geothermal hybrid energy conversion system with supercritical steam, Therminol VP1, geothermal fluid and R134a refrigerant. The goal is to exemplify a hybrid solution that optimizes and takes advantage of the existing  properties of the solar and geothermal power cycles. The geothermal part of the process, the primary cycle, is augmented by the solar thermal cycle to obtain a high-efficiency result. In addition, it allows the reader to understand the ideal process of this type of plant and a thermodynamic analysis represented by creating a detailed model block flow diagram, which is then turned into a dynamic one used to examine the selected parameters such as temperature, flow rate, and pressure variations. The dynamic model approximated the thermal values of the heat exchangers and the working fluids in the exchangers, solar collectors, piping and in the storage tanks.

An AC-linked large scale wind/photovoltaic (PV)/energy storage (ES) hybrid energy conversion system for grid-connected application was proposed in this paper. Wind energy conversion system (WECS) and PV generation system are the primary power sources of the hybrid system. The ES system, including battery and fuel cell (FC), is used as a backup and a power regulation unit to ensure continuous power supply and to take care of the intermittent nature of wind and photovoltaic resources. Static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) is employed to support the AC-linked bus voltage and improve low voltage ride through (LVRT) capability of the proposed system. An overall power coordinated control strategy is designed to manage real-power and reactive-power flows among the different energy sources, the storage unit, and the STATCOM system in the hybrid system. A simulation case study carried out on Western System Coordinating Council (WSCC) 3-machine 9-bus test system for the large scale hybrid energy conversion system has been developed using the DIgSILENT/Power Factory software platform. The hybrid system performance under different scenarios has been verified by simulation studies using practical load demand profiles and real weather data.

In this work, the concept of an energy conversion system for wind turbines based on the modified permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) is presented. In the generator, a pair of three-phase windings is used, one of which is connected in a “star” and the second in a “delta” configuration. At the outputs of both windings, two six-pulse uncontrolled (diode) rectifiers are included. These rectifiers are mutually coupled by a specially designed pulse transformer, whose primary winding is powered by the power electronics converter—the so-called “current modulator”—which, in this case, operates as a magnetic flux modulator, in the generator. The modulator provides a quasi-sinusoidal magnetomotive force (mmf) in the stator of the machine. The whole system is connected to the power grid via a dedicated voltage source inverter (VSI) converter. The main objective of the elaborated solution is to provide high efficiency conversion of mechanical (wind) energy into electricity by means of a relatively simple electrical system.
