The article presents literature data about the current views on the role of sulfur-containing aminoacids (AA) in the development of atherosclerosis (AS). Specifically, the questions of the influence of cysteine, cystine, taurine, methionine, and homocysteine are taken into considereation. The pathogenetic role of aminoaciddis balance of the se АА in AS and the ways of its goal-oriented correction in the course of complex therapy of AS are enlightened.

The article traced the main provisions on mechanism of action of slow-acting symptom-modifying drugs (SYSADOA): cartilage reparation, influence on nuclear factor κB, IL-6, IL-8, VEGF, transcription factor SOX9, etc. The effectiveness of SYSADOA drugs in the complex treatment of shoulder pain was evaluated. The inclusion of the bioactive concentrate from small sea fish (BCSSF) into the treatment regimen helps to reduce the number of recurrences of pain after the cancellation of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. We revealed a higher percentage of patients with significant pain reduction and restoration of the function of the shoulder joint in the group receiving BCSSF injections. The results of the study suggest the feasibility of including BCSSF in the complex scheme of treatment of pain in the shoulder joint.

Objective. To study the role of antioxidants in the complex therapy of patients with endometriosis-associated infertility on the example of evaluating the effectiveness of ubidecarenone. Patients and methods. Forty-three patients with endometriosis-associated infertility and nineteen fertile women with complete reproductive function were examined. In order to improve the receptivity of endometrium and correct the antioxidant status in infertile patients with endometriosis after laparoscopy, therapy with Synergin® was administered at a dosage of 2 capsules per day for 3 months. After therapy, an assessment of endometrium and intrauterine perfusion was made. Results. There was a significant decrease in intrauterine perfusion in patients with endometriosis-associated infertility compared to the control group. However, after therapy with Synergin® within 3 months and correction of endothelial dysfunction in infertile patients with endometriosis, an improvement in intrauterine perfusion was revealed. Thus, prior to therapy, subendometrial blood flow was assessed in 13% of patients as satisfactory, in 77% – it was reduced, in 10% – it was absent; after therapy, 86% of patients showed satisfactory blood flow and 14% had decreased blood flow. Endometrial blood flow was reduced in 32% of patients and in 68% were absent prior to treatment, and after treatment, it was assessed as satisfactory in 45% and was reduced in 55%. Conclusion. Pathogenetic antioxidant therapy is necessary in the complex therapy of infertility in patients with external genital endometriosis after surgical treatment. The prevalence of psoriasis poses a considerable public health burden and requires the elaboration of new treatment approaches. Despite the high prevalence and incidence of the disease and large amounts of reports on this problem, there has not been established an integral vision on the pathogenesis of this dermatosis. Risk factors for psoriasis can be divided into two groups, first of all, external and internal ones. Special attention is paid to smoking and alcohol consumption. The aim of our study was to determine the role of alpha - lipoic acid as a component of the complex therapy for psoriatic patients with alcohol and smoking abuse. The study has demonstrated that alpha-lipoic acid increases the reserves of intracellular glutathione, prevents the damage of mitochondria during lipid peroxidation. This enables to restore the balance of redox processes in hepatocytes and reduces the damaging effects of toxic substances. The effectiveness of the psoriasis therapy including alpha-lipoic acid was evaluated by comparing the biochemical blood parameters of the patients who took the therapy with alpha-lipoic acid (I group) and who did not (II group). The obtained results show the patients of the I group the have indicators of total cholesterol improved by 73.7%, the indicators of total and direct bilirubin improved by 25.7% and 32.4%; infiltration and erythema has considerably diminished by 92.9% of the patients that is 2.3 times higher compared with patients of the II group (control). We consider that this study has supported higher therapeutic efficacy of the proposed method of complex therapy for psoriatic patients of the I group that includes the addition of 600 mg of alpha-lipoic acid as a single dose taken in 30 minutes before the first meal for a month.
