Here we present the results of applying the method of non-contact sexing of birds by the profile beak outlines to a rare flightless rallid from New Zealand - takahē. The graphic stage of the method made it possible to identify visual differences in the profile outlines of the beak of males and females. The reliability of the differences found was confirmed by a set of statistical analysis techniques that showed almost 100 percent effectiveness of the proposed method.

The research aimed to identify which countries could be segmented as a potential tourism market for Indonesia to increase quality tourists. The researchers used quantitative methods with descriptive statistical analysis techniques to describe the average expenditure per visit and the length of stay. It was conducted by modifying the quadrant model. The result shows that there are countries included in the market with the prospect of quality tourists. Those are Saudi Arabia, Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, Russia, France, Germany, Austria, Finland, Italy, Spain, Norway, Denmark, Canada, United Kingdom, New Zealand, USA, Portugal, Egypt, Pakistan, and Australia. The government needs to optimize those countries to become the main market. Therefore, the revenue from the tourism sector can be better optimized.

This Special Section of the ANZIAM Journal (Electronic Supplement) contains the refereed papers from the 2017 Mathematics for Industry NZ Study Group (MINZ 2017) held at Victoria University, Wellington, New Zealand from 26--30 June, 2017. The MINZ is a special interest meeting of ANZIAM, the Australia and New Zealand Industrial and Applied Mathematics division of the Australian Mathematics Society. MINZ was formed to provide a national entity to host workshops where companies pitch their problems to New Zealand’s mathematical scientists. They then work collaboratively to generate practical solutions through modelling, statistical analysis or computation.

AbstractOver 130 X-linked genes have been robustly associated with developmental disorders, and X-linked causes have been hypothesised to underlie the higher developmental disorder rates in males. Here, we evaluate the burden of X-linked coding variation in 11,044 developmental disorder patients, and find a similar rate of X-linked causes in males and females (6.0% and 6.9%, respectively), indicating that such variants do not account for the 1.4-fold male bias. We develop an improved strategy to detect X-linked developmental disorders and identify 23 significant genes, all of which were previously known, consistent with our inference that the vast majority of the X-linked burden is in known developmental disorder-associated genes. Importantly, we estimate that, in male probands, only 13% of inherited rare missense variants in known developmental disorder-associated genes are likely to be pathogenic. Our results demonstrate that statistical analysis of large datasets can refine our understanding of modes of inheritance for individual X-linked disorders.

This study purposes to analyze the character of the hard work of students of class VIIC and class VII E SMP Negeri 1 Jambi City. This study uses descriptive quantitativeresearch methods. While the type of research used is observation with a test assessmentinstrument in the form of a questionnaire with hard working character variables. The subjects of this study were students of class VII C and VII E SMP Negeri 1 KotaJambi, with a total number of respondents as many as 61 respondents. The data analysistechnique used is descriptive statistical analysis techniques. The results of the studystated that the character questionnaire of hard work of students in class VII C on averagebelonged to the category "Good" with a percentage of 81.3% of statements answeredwell by students and 6.3% of statements answered badly by students. While the resultsof research in class VII E on average belong to the category "Good" with 65.6% of statementsanswered both by students and 3.1%, answered not well by students. Based onthe results of the questionnaire, it can be concluded that students of class VII C and classVII E in SMP Negeri 1 Kota Jambi have had the character of hard work in the learningprocess.

Aim of study: Commercially, chicken meat has a similar positioning to turkey meat, as both are healthy and low-fat meats. For this reason, we proposed analysing consumer behaviour with respect to each of these meats based on market segmentation.Area of study: Spain.Material and methods: We carried out a telephone survey with an error of ± 4.0% at a confidence level of 95.5%, using the food-related lifestyle (FRL) instrument as part of the questionnaire. The statistical analysis techniques employed were different depending on the objective pursued: univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis.Main results: Five segments were obtained: “Manager cook” (24.5%), “Healthy cook” (20.8%), “Concerned with food, but not cooks” (22%), “Total detachment” (11.9%) and “Rational shopper with little interest in cuisine” (20.8%). Notwithstanding the similar positioning of chicken and turkey meats, there are significant differences in purchasing and consumption habits between FRL segments. Specifically, there were significant differences in the frequency of purchase, the usual shopping location, purchasing criteria and preparation methods.Research highlights: Knowing the profile of these segments allows us to adapt the marketing mix (product, place, price and promotion) to each one. This is very useful for the companies due to the wide demand they face. First, they can choose the FRL segments to target and, second, they can define an appropriate marketing strategy according to these segments. In this way, market segmentation strategy based on food-related lifestyles may ensure companies a greater likelihood of success in the market.

Introduction: The article presents data from literary sources and a statistical analysis of our own research on the nature, mechanism and prescription of kidneys injury in case of mechanical trauma and the absence of alcohol intoxication. The aim: To study the dynamics of changes in the histological parameters of the kidneys injured tissues in case of mechanical trauma depending on the prescription of injury. Materials and methods: The material of the study was the kidneys tissue of 48 males and females aged from 20-60 who died at known and unknown time in the presence and absence of alcohol in the blood. We used histological, histochemical methods, and carried out the analysis of results. Results: The obtained results showed that during the mechanical injury of kidneys there often developed a capsule and a parenchyma with hematoma in the area of injury. Our records showed that during the first 6 hours after injury, there appeared a hematoma in the center of the injury. Hemolysis of the erythrocyte particles was observed in the center of the hematoma. There were also isolated leukocytes and fibrin tissues closer to the edge of the hematoma. Conclusions: The obtained results indicate that there are several histological changes in the damaged kidneys tissues area which directly depend on the time which passed from the moment of injury.
