Descritores: Papillomaviridae, Condiloma acuminado, Perfil de impacto da doença, Indicadores de qualidade de vida Abstract Objective: To evaluate the epidemiological profile and impact on the quality of life of patients with anogenital warts. Methods: This is a prospective cross-sectional study conducted at the Ambulatory of Sexually Transmitted Infections at Santa Casa de São Paulo Hospital from January 2015 to December 2017. To evaluate the impact on quality of life, a specific questionnaire was used for condyloma acuminata, which analyzes the impact in the emotional and sexual sphere, and compared its results to the number and time of lesions presented by the patients. Results: The epidemiological profile of 48 patients was evaluated; 23 of these patients answered the questionnaire and were affected in the emotional and / or sexual dimension by their lesions. When correlating the number of condyloma lesions to the results of emotional impact, sexual impact and general impact, no statistically significant relationship was observed (p = 0.298, p = 0.297 and p = 0.230, respectively). When correlating the time of condyloma presented by the patients to the impact in the emotional, sexual and general spheres, there was a significant inverse relationship with p <0.05, presenting a moderate correlation with the Pearson analysis method with p = 0.039 in the emotional sphere, p = 0.009 in the sexual sphere and p = 0.010 in the global sphere. Conclusions: The presence of anogenital condylomas interferes in the quality of life of the patients, affecting both the emotional and sexual spheres. It was also noted that patients with impact on quality of life due to the presence of condylomata tend to seek medical help more quickly, while patients with low impact in the sexual and emotional spheres take more time to seek medical treatment.Key Words: Papillomaviridae, Condylomata acuminata, Sickness impact profile, Indicators of quality of life

Introduction: Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease of the central nervous system that consists of the development of autoantibodies against the myelin sheath in neuronal axons causing demyelinating inflammatory sites. It is a disease currently incurable. Objectives: The objective was to describe the epidemiological clinical profile of patients hospitalized with MS in the State of São Paulo, in the period from 2011 to 2021. Methods: This is an epidemiological, descriptive and retrospective study, with quantitative analysis, whose source of data was the Information System for Notifiable Diseases, from the Ministry of Health. The data were tabulated in graphs and tables using Microsoft Excel 2010. Results: 10,386 admissions of MS were reported in the state. Of the total cases, 67.4% occurred in females and 80.3% in race white. 43.5% of patients in the age group between 30 and 39 years. 94.4% were hospitalized on an elective basis. The average length of stay is between 3.3 days, with mortality rate representing 0.64% of the total. Conclusion: A higher prevalence was observed in the age range between 30 and 39 years and a predominance of hospitalizations among women. Although it is a disease with high morbidity and mortality, the mortality was low. It suggests that there are variables to be analyzed, such as a possible underreporting of this disease and also the advent of early diagnosis strategies and treatments that can modify the course of the disease, mitigating mortality.

ABSTRACT: Feline coronavirus (FCoV) is responsible for causing one of the most important infectious diseases of domestic and wild felids, the feline infectious peritonitis (FIP), which is an immune-mediated, systemic, progressive and fatal disease. FCoV is highly contagious, and infection is common in domestic feline populations worldwide. The present study aimed to determine the seropositivity of FCoV infection and its associated epidemiological variables (risk factors) in domiciled cats in Botucatu, São Paulo, Brazil. Whole blood samples (0.5-1mL) were collected from 151 cats, and sera were extracted by centrifugation. These sera were tested by an commercial enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) for the detection of IgG anti-FCoV antibodies. The assessed risk factors were age range, breed, gender, reproductive status, outdoor access and rearing mode (living alone or in a group). The seropositivity was 64.2% (97/151). There was no statistical significance for risk factors related to breed, gender or rearing mode. There were significant differences in seropositivity (p-values ≤0.05) for age range (p=0.0157), reproductive status (p=0.0074) and outdoor access (p=0.0001). This study verified a wide dissemination of FCoV in the studied population, with a higher than expected seropositivity for indoor cats. Among the risk factors, age range, reproductive status and outdoor access presented statistically significant differences, thus helping to establish an epidemiological profile of this population.
