The aim of this study is to influence of online mathematics learning on prospective teachers mathematics achievement based on the role of independent and collaborative learning. An experimental design model with pre-test and post-test control group was used in the study. The working group constitutes a total of 60 prospective teachers in the first and second years of education in the Department of Elementary Teaching and Preschool Teaching of a private university in 2016–2017 academic year in Northern Cyprus. As a means of data collection, mathematics achievement test consisting of 30 questions was administered as pre-test, and after the study, the same success test was administered as a post-test. As a result of the findings, it has been determined that the prospective teachers have a significant increase in their successes due to the teaching practices in online learning environments. The emergence of the Internet and Web 2.0 has introduced enormous opportunities for a rising generation of tech-savvy young adults, students, and life-long learners. This chapter examines the various Web 2.0 tools, such as blogs, wikis, RSS (Real Simple Syndication), podcasts, mashups, and social networks, that can help make the online learning environment more interactive and interesting. The chapter provides an overview on the role of Web 2.0-based tools and technologies in providing a comprehensive structure for interactions and interconnections between three key components of a learning environment: the learner, the teacher, and the interface. Furthermore, the chapter explores how these tools can be used in exchanging knowledge, aggregating content, and collaborating with peers in online learning environments.

With the spread of COVID-19, nearly all education systems in the world pivoted to distance education in order to overcome the crisis. Because it is an unexpected crisis, most institutions had to employ emergency remote teaching systems. This decision brought so many problems to education industry. But now, it is a known fact that the virus is with us at least one more year, and moreover, new epidemics may occur. Therefore, this chapter aims to provide a guideline with a different approach to online learning for practitioners working in education industry. Thanks to this guideline, the practitioners can create well-designed online learning environments, and as a result, they will not need emergency remote teaching applications anymore.

This chapter reviews the concept of personalised eLearning resources in relation to integrating interactivity into asynchronous learning. Personalised eLearning resources are learning resources which are selected to suit a specific student or trainee’s individual learning requirements. The affordance of personalised eLearning would provide educators with the opportunity to shift away from eLearning content that is retrieved and move towards the provision of personalised interactive content to provide a form of asynchronous learning to suit students at different degree levels. A basic introduction to the concept of ePedagogy in online learning environments is explored and the impacts these systems have on students learning experiences are considered. Issues, controversies, and problems associated with the creation of personalised interactive eLearning resources are examined, and suggested solutions and recommendations to the identified issues, controversies, and problems are reviewed. Personalised interactive asynchronous learning resources could potentially improve students’ learning experiences but more research on the human computer interface of these authoring tools is required before personalised eLearning resources are available for use by non-technical authors.
