This work studies eco monitoring networks. As eco monitoring networks have been used to monitor large networks, questions arise whether decentralized inference is efficient and whether an eco monitoring network with a moderate size can monitor an underlying network at the Internet scale. This work studies the local effectiveness of decentralized inference done by individual monitors. Information theoretical measures, i.e., conditional non-uniformity factor is applied to quantify the effectiveness. Large-scale data from DShield is used to access the effectiveness of a real eco monitoring network.

Social information has multidimensional attributes. With the rapid growth of social information, it's harder and harder to organize, manage, and distribute these large scale information under virtual reality environments in traditional ways. This paper introduces the design and implementation of a social information distributed system based on a distributed virtual reality environment. It allows the users to post and receive social information, share photos, articles and videos with friends. The system is scalable, fault tolerant, and is capable of processing large scale data and supporting tens of thousands of online users.

The Internet has enabled easy storage and retrieval of various network data, including data showing the relationship between music professionals. “High-Throughput Humanities” is a new way of thought that aims to bring analysis of such large-scale data to the study of traditional humanities subjects including music. Here we present how networks of musical professionals can help us understand the process of collective music production and the human perception of musical similarity.
