Sliding Sudare has a big potential to be developed considered its high effectiveness in minimizing building energy consumption while still maintaining its visibility quality. Meanwhile, its original blinds that is made of bamboo cannot withstand extreme weather and have a short lifespan. Therefore, this research is to investigate the effectiveness of the other material alternatives namely stainless steel, plastic, and natural fiber. A scaled model is used for prototyping the materials in the shape of bicycle spokes, PLA+ (3D printer filament), and bamboo slats as the blinds. These everyday objects were tested in terms of their physical characteristic and were measured by four parameters (security requirement, weather resistance, construction process, and cost-effectiveness). From the research, it was concluded that bicycle spokes has the highest overall performance with the highest advantages in weather resistance requirement, cost-effectiveness, and construction; whilst PLA+ and bamboo slats have the least overall performance though both have high advantage in terms of security requirement.

Cognitive diagnosis models (CDMs) are latent class multidimensional statistical models that help classify people accurately by using a set of discrete latent variables, commonly referred to as attributes. These models require a Q-matrix that indicates the attributes involved in each item. A potential problem is that the Q-matrix construction process, typically performed by domain experts, is subjective in nature. This might lead to the existence of Q-matrix misspecifications that can lead to inaccurate classifications. For this reason, several empirical Q-matrix validation methods have been developed in the recent years. de la Torre and Chiu proposed one of the most popular methods, based on a discrimination index. However, some questions related to the usefulness of the method with empirical data remained open due the restricted number of conditions examined, and the use of a unique cutoff point ( EPS) regardless of the data conditions. This article includes two simulation studies to test this validation method under a wider range of conditions, with the purpose of providing it with a higher generalization, and to empirically determine the most suitable EPS considering the data conditions. Results show a good overall performance of the method, the relevance of the different studied factors, and that using a single indiscriminate EPS is not acceptable. Specific guidelines for selecting an appropriate EPS are provided in the discussion.

The purpose of this work was to determine the possible optimal cost effectiveness of various energy conservation options for new buildings in the local climate. The building energy analysis code Energy-10 was used for this purpose. Three types of savings have been evaluated: energy savings, operating cost savings, and Life-Cycle Cost (LCC) savings. To complete this study, a parametric analysis was performed on the influence on LCC savings due to variations of various individual components (including window characteristics, wall, floor, and roof constructions) and the whole-composite buildings. The initial part of the study focused on examining the impacts of individual components within the capabilities of Energy-10. For example, the impacts of a single window size, orientation, and construction were analyzed. While doing this, all of the other heat loss/heat gain paths were made negligible. Results of this aspect of the work were used to define a shorter list of components and building construction options to evaluate in the following composite-house studies. Then two general categories for the whole-composite buildings were evaluated to assist in analyzing the potential cost-effectiveness and benefits of buildings’ energy conservation options. In these studies, various energy cost escalation rates, economic life times, and replacement costs were considered. Building orientations relative the areal placement of fenestrations were also evaluated. Conclusions are given about combinations of construction elements that make the most economic sense for this rapidly growing population area. While Las Vegas climatic data are considered in this work, the conclusions are more generally applicable in the desert Southwest portion of the US.

Sodium alginate and natural fiber were used as modifiers to prepare sodium alginate natural fiber type biological composites. The mechanical properties were characterized by universal testing machine, and the thermal properties were analyzed by conductivity, The effects of wood fiber and straw fiber content on the comprehensive properties of biological composite materials were evaluated by relevant instruments, and the feasibility of biological composite materials as building energy-saving wall insulation materials was evaluated. The results show that the flexural strength, compressive strength and elastic modulus of the composites increase with the increase of wood fiber content. When the wood fiber content is 100%, the mechanical properties of the sample are the best, the flexural strength is 0.573 MPa, and the compressive strength is 1.410 MPa. The results showed that wood fiber and sodium alginate binder were closely combined and had good wettability. The thermal conductivity of biological composite is 0.078-0.089w / (m · K), which means it has good thermal insula tion performance and can be used as thermal insulation material for building energy-saving wall. The results show that the properties of the composite can be improved by adding a higher proportion of wood fiber and a certain amount of glyoxal crosslinking agent.

In the era of strong IT development, superior processing of information is a desideratum in any business. Used in modeling and simulation, information has better capitalization, having a cognitive role; introduced in various algorithms and models can generate knowledge and wisdom. The processing of information is realized within the information systems (IS). A sub-domain of the energy sector that has developed in recent years is energy retrofitting, seen as a border subdomain, including specific elements from building construction and the energy field, for building analysis and construction process to achieve much larger energy savings. The development of retrofitting can be organized, through using BEM (Building Energy Model) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) models.

In order to improve the efficiency in economic data processing, the construction of the data processing system based on the net cluster technology is proposed in this paper. As an important part of Statistic Data Warehouse, the Macro-economy Emulation System, which is based on statistic data warehouse, is now being used on Government Decision Support System. Currently, the system is processing the emulation over the abundant national macro-economy data. It presents the building of Visual Macroeconomic Emulating System on Statistic Data Warehouse (SDWES), including data extraction and check-up, data normalization, and a mechanism to support market analysis and forecast. The experiment shows this paper has a reference value for the application of net cluster technology in the construction process of economic data processing system which can also promote the overall performance substantially.
