A set of design criteria for sensing the shape of an above-knee (AK) stump is presented and used as the basis for evaluating various shape sensing technologies. A mechanical probe type shape sensing system is described and its use in quantifying the external shape of the AK stump is discussed as it relates to generating a grid for finite element analysis in CAD/CAM studies and comparing the segmental volumes of the loaded and unloaded stump. This study also discusses a method that uses circumferential measurements to compute total and incremental volumes of the stump.

According to the design criteria referred to CCAR-25,the static strengths of accessorial equipments (single stretcher-supporting equipment, double layer stretcher-supporting equipment and nursing-type unit) and the track-mounting mechanism applied to fix the accessorial equipments to the seat tracks of the airliner are analyzed under five loads by using the software MSC.PATRAN. Based on the analysis results, the strengths of the accessorial equipments will be checked, the structures can satisfy the requirements of strength.

Abstract We have written two pieces of software that are necessary for mechanical engineering design and analysis. These are a CAD-CAM system using Constructive Solid Geometry and a finite element analysis system. Both are unique in that they are written in the symbolic math system MAPLE. All entities in each of these programs are entered symbolically. For example, in the CSG system, we talk about a square whose dimensions are a, b and side1. In the finite element analysis, we talk about a symbolic representation for a regular grid. This scheme has advantages over conventional finite element analysis and Constructive Solid Geometry approaches.

AIM: This study aimed to compare the stresses generated by using two or four root form dental implants supporting mandibular overdentures that were retained with ball and locator attachments.METHODS: Under ANSYS environment, four 3D finite element models were prepared. These models simulated complete overdentures supported by two or four implants with either ball or locator attachments as a connection mechanism. The models’ components were created by CAD/CAM package then were imported to ANSYS. Load of 100 N was applied at the right premolar/molar region vertically and at an oblique angle of 110° from lingual direction.RESULTS: Within the conditions of this research, in all cases, it was found that cortical and cancellous bone regions were the least to be stressed. Also, the ball attachment produced higher stresses.CONCLUSION: Caps deformation and stresses are negligible in cases of using locator attachment in comparison to ball attachments. This may indicate longer lifetime and less repair/maintenance operations in implant overdentures retained by locator attachments. Although the study revealed that bone was insensitive to a number of implants or attachment type, it may be recommended to use two implants in the canine region than using four, where the locator attachments were found to be better.

With the rapid penetration of information technology in various fields, CAD/CAM/CAE technology has been widely used to fundamentally change the traditional design, production, organizational models, it also has a very important significance to promote the technological transformation of existing enterprises, bring the whole structural change of the night, develop the new technologies and the promotion of economic growth. The paper uses the blades of steam turbine as an example, combined with the finite element analysis method to study the whole cutting process, the whole process was simulated and the results of error were had analysis and optimization.

The key technologies of CAD/CAM integration of mechanical parts which include parametric modeling technology, model transformation of CAD/CAE and finite element modeling were studied. Based on redevelopment of UG, the process of parametric modeling about typical part was achieved. The identification, selection, extraction, and removal of the details in the CAD model were analyzed. The extraction approach of the mid-surface in the dimensional reduction of the CAD model was executed. The CAD/CAE integration system of the design and finite element analysis for mechanical parts was established by the redevelopment of UG and ANSYS with Visual C++, UG/Open and APDL as tools. The parametric design and automatic finite element analysis for mechanical parts were implemented.

It is imminent to establish an early-warning SOFC monitoring system for anchor damage, the gravest threat to the SOFC communication, while the key to build the monitoring system is to correctly grasp anchor the response law of embedded submarine cable caused by anchor impact; ANSYS/LS-DYNA is used to perform the finite element analysis of SOFC and make the length-shape variables differences between signal fiber and reference fiber caused by anchor impact clearly, besides, combining with the sensing model of distributed optical fiber vibration sensing system, the current wave is acquired, based on what the monitoring system warn the anchoring incidents near the submarine route, which is significant to guide the design of forecasting monitoring system of SOFC.
