Background: School nurses play a crucial role in the provision of comprehensive health services to the school population. A balanced quality of work life (QWL) with favorable conditions that support and uphold employee satisfaction is imperative for school nurses to maximize their provision of care for their clientele. Among the many nursing specialties, research among school nurses is not given much attention.Purpose: This study aimed to determine the QWL of public school nurses in the Philippines. Methods: This study utilized a descriptive correlational research design with 57 public school nurses as study participants. Self-reported data were gathered utilizing Walton’s QWL scale. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis test, and Spearman–rank correlation coefficient. Results: Results indicated that public school nurses had high QWL (M=4.16). Among the eight subscales, opportunities at work (M=4.04) and social integration at work (M=4.03) had the lowest mean scores. There were no significant differences in the QWL according to sex (p=0.929), marital status (p=0.326), educational attainment (p=0.391) and length of work experience (p=0.059), while there was a significant relationship between age (p=0.005) and QWL of public school nurses. Conclusion: Public school nurses generally have a high QWL. Nevertheless, to further improve their QWL, it is recommended that public school nurses must be provided with more chances for continuous professional growth and opportunities for better social integration.

Background: Stressful workplace experiences of police officers predispose them to physical and psychological injuries and affect their quality of work-life (QWL). Objectives: Therefore, this study aimed to examine the QWL of Iranian police officers. Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted in 2020 on 200 police officers working in different job positions of the Iranian Police Organization. A convenience sampling method was used to recruit the participants from 12 police departments in five cities. The Police Quality of Work-life questionnaire (PQWLQ) was used for data collection. The measures of descriptive and inferential statistics (independent-samples t-test, one-way analysis of variance, and Pearson correlation coefficient) were used for data analysis. Results: Of the 200 police officers, 87.5% (175) were males, 68% (136) had a bachelor’s degree or higher, and their work experience ranged between five and 27 years. The QWL score of the study participants ranged from 24 to 120 with a mean (± SD) of 63.20 (± 18.40), and the majority of them (56%) had a moderate QWL. Male police officers had a higher QWL (67%) than female ones (45%) (P < 0.05). Conclusions: The majority of the police officers who participated in this study had a moderate QWL. To increase the level of QWL among police officers, the Police authorities should plan appropriate strategies and programs.

“Quality of work life” has become the buzzword for the contemporary organization. Employees are more concern about their work environment ever, which is one of the most important factors to determine the quality of work life (QWL). It refers to the favorableness or unpleasantness of a job environment for people. The increased complexity of today’s work environment poses several challenges, especially for women employees who are working in different garment factories. It is now the high time for the Ready-made Garment (RMG) sector to be aware of improving the QWL. Our study focused on the factors influencing the quality of work life of women employees, their level of job satisfaction. We have tried to assess the QWL of women employees working in selected garment factories which are located in Gazipur district. We have collected data through a semi-structured questionnaire from a sample of 500 women employees. The findings of the study project various indications about concerned issues where the organization can concentrate to bring about better QWL life so that they get more satisfied women workforce. For statistical analysis mean, percentage, hypothesis testing, ranking order method and weighted average method were calculated. The ultimate findings of the study reveal that there is a significant relationship between work experience and participation in decision making for women employees. The survey study also shows that authority’s willingness is also an influential parameter to improve the QWL. Another interesting finding of our survey focuses that women employees have been given the least priority to salary as a measure to enhance QWL.

Researchers from Thailand and Japan have initiated a collaborative project to compare the Quality of Work Life (QWL) among public health nurses. Thus, the QWL of registered nurses working in a community in Thailand was identified and compared with the Public Health Nurses (PHNs) in Japan. The purpose of which was to determine the similarities and differences between the two countries regarding their nurses’ quality of work life. The 42-item of Brooks’ survey of Quality of Nursing Work Life (QNWL) was translated and evaluated in Thailand and Japan. There were 102 Thai and 209 Japanese public health nurses completed the questionnaire. Findings showed that the QNWL level of both Thai and Japanese PHNs were at moderate level. Thai nurses scored higher than Japanese nurses in overall scores. Thai reported significantly higher on work design dimensions (t = 9.12, p < 0.05). For both groups, three out of four dimensions were ranked in the same pattern in which home life/work life was recorded as the lowest. This was followed by work design and work context. However, Thai scored lowest on work world dimension, while Japanese scored highest on that dimension. Findings also showed significant association between country and age groups (χ2 = 20.01, p = 0.00, marital status (χ2 = 6.50, p = 0.01), education (χ2 = 70.05, p = 0.00), and dependent family members (χ2 = 128.16, p = 0.00). No significant association was noted between country and gender (χ2 = 0.37, p = 0.54), and between country and work experience (χ2 = 2.88, p = 0.23).The findings extended our understanding of the Public Health Nurse’s quality of work life that contributes to nursing in different cultural contexts through a rare direct comparison of Public Health Nurses between Thailand and Japan.

Abstract Background Quality of work-life refers to the extent to which members of a work organization can satisfy their personal needs through their work experience in the organization. High quality of working life is critical for healthcare organizations to attract and retain qualified, committed and motivated employees and also lead to high task performance. However, there are few studies regarding quality of work life among nurses in Ethiopia. The objective of this study was to assess quality of work life and associated factors among nurses working in Wollega Zones governmental hospitals, 2018.Methods Institutional based cross - sectional study design was conducted on 212 nurses working in wollega zones governmental hospitals from November to December, 2018. The study participants were selected by using simple random sampling techniques. The data was entered into Epi data version 3.1 and then exported into Statistical Package for the Social Sciences window version 20.0 for analysis. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to identify factors associated with quality of working life of nurses. Statistical significance was declared at p<0.05.Result A total of 212 nurses were involved in the study. The study revealed that about 108(50.5% of nurses have good quality of work life. Income and dependent family were significantly associated with quality of work life. In this study, Nurses who have no dependent family were 2.72 (AOR 2.72, 95% CI: 1.38, 5.38) times more likely to have good quality of work life compared to those who have dependent family. Nurses whose monthly income 446-5294 were 2.39(AOR 2.39 95% CI: 1.08, 5.37) times more likely to have good quality of work life compared to those who got less than 3653.Conclusion Nearly half of nurses were dissatisfied with the quality of their work life . The study revealed that monthly income and presence of dependent family showed significant association with quality of work life. Bringing up and maintaining a higher level of quality of work life among nurses is a key to promote job satisfaction and enhance quality of patient care.

Quality of work-life (QWL) is concerned with the welfare and satisfaction of employees on the job as well as off the job. The purpose of this research is to undertake a combination of descriptive study - to ascertain and explain the level of QWL among the employees of the University of The Gambia – and hypothesis testing - to establish the relationship between QWL and demographic factors of the respondents. Summary of the results indicate that interestingly, four aspects of QWL stand in employees’ evaluation as “moderate-to-high” motivators such as relations and co-operations, autonomy of work, and organizational culture and climate. However, to “moderate-to-low” level of motivation with QWL aspects has been reported, such as job satisfaction and job security, training and development, work environment, adequacy of resources, compensation and rewards, and facilities. Moreover, results also indicate that respondents differ significantly in their QWL in terms of designation, education and monthly salary. They however do not differ significantly in their QWL in terms of gender, age and work experience. Our original contribution to research is that we examine an application of QWL in a context (i.e. UTG) that has not existed in extant literature. The result also provides managerial implications that is unique to the case under study, which confirms the multidisciplinary nature of QWL. Thus, although these results slightly vary with few studies, our results confirm findings of several other scholars.

The Quality of Work life (QWL) is the employees’ feeling or perception of being comfortable with their work. The objective of the present study was to compare Quality of School Work Life (QSWL) of public school teachers from Turkey and Pakistan. A QSWL scale developed by Ilgan, Ata, Zepeda and Ozu-Cengiz (2014) having 30 items was used as the research instrument. The sample included 995 Turkish teachers (from 8 cities) and 716 Pakistani teachers (from 5 cities of Punjab). Reliability coefficient of QSWL scale was 0.81. Further, five subscales within the QSWL tools were identified through its exploratory factor analysis. On all these 5 subscales of QSWL (when analysed separately), Turkish and Pakistani teachers differed significantly in their perceptions; however, they were found appreciating similar QSWL in the aggregate analyses. In detailed analyses of various subgroups only female teachers from Pakistan were found better on QSWL than their Turkish counterparts.
