The curriculum is a set of subjects and educational programs provided by an educational provider that contains lesson plans that will be given to participants in one period of education. The preparation of these subjects is adjusted to the circumstances and abilities of each level of education in the delivery of such education and employment needs. The length of time in a curriculum is usually adjusted to the aims and objectives of the implemented education system. This curriculum is intended to be able to direct education towards the direction and objectives intended in overall learning activities. The curriculum according to law number 20 of 2003 article 1 paragraph 19 is a set of plans and arrangements regarding the objectives, content, and learning materials as well as the methods used as guidelines for organizing learning activities to achieve certain educational goals.

Administration of the curriculum is a system of curriculum management that is cooperative, comprehensive, systemic, and systematic in order to realize the achievement of curriculum objectives. The aim of the curriculum is to achieve institutional learning at educational institutions, so that the curriculum plays an important role in realizing quality and quality schools. The method used in this study includes planning, implementation, supervision, and curriculum evaluation. Thus it can be seen that a good curriculum is a curriculum that follows the development of science and technology based on society. Failure in the administration of a curriculum will have fatal consequences on the success of the world of education.

UU no. 2 of 1989 stated that the curriculum is a set of plans and arrangements regarding the content and learning materials as well as the methods used as guidelines in the implementation of teaching and learning processes. In the Republic of Indonesia Government Regulation No. 19/2005, regarding National Education Standards (SNP), it is stated that the curriculum is a set of plans and arrangements regarding the objectives, content, and learning materials and the ways used as guidelines for organizing learning activities to achieve certain educational goals.

The study attempted to analyze the implementation of character education in the English lessons at SMP Negeri 1 Banjar. The subjects of the research were the eighth grade students and the English teacher. The researcher analyzed the lesson plans and the implementation to investigate how character education was inserted in the teaching of the four basic skills in English which has been integrated in the process of teaching and learning in 2013 curriculum. The instruments in this study consisted of interview guide, recorder, lesson plan analysis checklist, and observation checklist. Result of the analysis indicates that the teacher inserts the character values in indicators, learning materials, learning steps, and assessment instrument in lesson plans. In teaching and learning activities, character values are also implemented. However, the character values which are inserted in learning activities are different from one with another. It depends on the topic and indicators that will be achieved. In the evaluation, the strategies which were used by the teacher were in the form of advice and scoring rubric to assess character education in the process of teaching and learning.

Unruh and Unruh (1984) curriculum is defined as a plan for achieving intended learning outcomes: a plan concerned with purposes, with what is learned, and with the result of instruction.
