Planning and executing the restorative rehabilitation of a severely mutilated dentition is one of the most challenging tasks for the restorative dentist. This case report illustrates an interdisciplinary approach in the treatment of a multifaceted case of partial loss of teeth. A series of provisional prosthesis were used before the final treatment due to extreme complexity of the patient situation. The final treatment was composed of innovatively designed thimble copings, telescopic retainer and cast metal frame work for the rehabilitation of the maxillary and mandibular arch.Birat Journal of Health Sciences Vol.2/No.1/Issue 2/ Jan - April 2017, page: 222-226

Retention, stability & support are three important factors which determine the basic objectives, success and comfort of any removable prosthesis. In acquired surgical maxillary defects; the degree of impairment, size and location of the defect influences the outcome of the overall prosthetic overhaul.Prosthetic therapy with obturator closes the defect by re-establishing the oro-nasal separation, thereby, improving deglutition, speech and hypernasality. After maxillectomy, 3-6 months after surgery, patients with class 4 maxillary defects complains of frequent loosening of temporary prosthesis due to more amount of tissue changes, dimensional stabilization of surgical site, more loss of mucogingival support and rapid healing changes. As a result, there is an every chance of endangerment with the use of temporary prosthesis and allow the patients in seeking the definitive prosthesis over interim prosthesis. In this regard, designing of cast partial metal frame work with linear configuration for class 4 maxillary defects enhances the quality and comfort of the definitive prosthesis over conventional acrylic prosthesis. This article mainly describes the fundamental designing technique in improving the retention, stability and support of the definitive prosthesis with cast retainers.

The authors present the case of a 4-year-old child admitted to the ENT Department with possible pulmonary foreign body aspiration. A detailed history revealed a clinical picture that seemed to depict an absence episode (with partial loss of conscience and cianosis) occured when eating, less the symptomes of a respiratory foreign body. Diagnosis needed full respiratory endoscopy and neurologic evaluation for correct assesment and effective therapy approach.

Primary Empty Sella Syndrome (PES) is a relatively rare or uncommon developmental disease that develops spontaneously. It is characterized by herniation of subarachnoid space within the sella which is often associated with some degree of flattening of pituitary gland. Usually manifested by endocrine abnormalities, ocular abnormalities, rhinitis and intractable persistent headache. It is higher in obese females having multiple pregnancies. Here we report a case of empty sella syndrome in a 27 year old lady to aware the physicians to bear in mind a differential in patients having persistent intractable headache. The incidence of esophageal impacted denture is proportionately increasing as there is increasing number of people wearing denture in current days. Impacted denture has to be removed as soon as possible because the delay can lead to complications. The successful removal of impacted denture in the esophagus in a patient is reported, with a review of the literature. A 52-year-old Malay lady complained of dysphagia with no history of foreign body ingestion. Following unsuccessful attempts of removal via a rigid esophagoscope, open surgery was performed. Without further delay, the impacted denture was removed by cervical esophagotomy, and the patient recovered uneventfully. Esophageal foreign bodies are usually removed by endoscopy. However, in situations where this appears potentially hazardous, such as with impacted denture, open surgical extraction that is promptly performed is a safer option.International Journal of Human and Health Sciences Vol. 05 No. 03 July’21 Page: 362-365

Sacroiliac (SI) joint is the articulation which forms the part of the bony pelvis. It plays an important role in locomotor activity, and childbirth during labour. It helps in the transmission and distribution of axial body weight from the spine to the pelvis. This synovial joint exhibit limited gliding movements within the joint cavity. About 15-30% of low backache aetiologies are attributed to SI joint dysfunction. People who are overweight, have co-morbid conditions, and pregnant women are at higher risk of developing vertebral joint deformities called spondylarthropathies. They are group of inflammatory disorders which are involving the vertebral spines and peripheral joints, where the symptom of stiffness is prominently seen. The anatomical variations in the SI joint morphology like accessory SI joint, iliosacral complex and sacral defect, dismorphic joint, are of compelling interest concerning SI joint pathologies from the orthopaedic viewpoint. This case report presents a bilateral fusion of SI joint, found in a skeleton in the museum of medical college.

Purposes: The aim of this case report is to suggest and discuss an up-to-date interdisciplinary approach to a complex periodontal case, adjusting different treatment strategies intra-individually based on the biological, functional and aesthetic dimensions of each patient. Case report: The case refers to a 42-year-old healthy male patient with IIIB generalized periodontitis. After cause-related therapy, the patient was submitted to periodontal resective surgery with fibre retention technique in the maxilla and surgical regenerative procedures in the posterior regions of the mandible with enamel matrix derivative and bovine xenograft. After Supportive Periodontal Therapy (SPT) institution the patient went through an aesthetic rehabilitation phase to minimize the disease sequelae. Conclusion: Modern evidence-based periodontal treatment options must be site-specific oriented in order to achieve the best clinical outcomes. A contemporary vision of periodontal treatment must go beyond the moment of establishment of an individualized SPT programme and these restorative solutions are very powerful tools to give back confidence and increase the self-esteem of our patients.
