Information systems outsourcing is an indispensable tool in the management of information systems. The set of services contracted to outside suppliers, originally more limited to services of an operational nature, has expanded over the past two decades, and today there is a wide range of services subject to outsourcing. Among them are: the hiring of software development; maintenance of applications; services and communications networks; security of information systems; and many others. Depending on the nature of the services contracted and on the range that the contracting of services has on departments of information systems, the issues involved in project management vary considerably. This article presents the results of a survey conducted among large companies in the Republic of Ireland to characterize, among other things, the range of services that are most often outsourced. The results are relevant in the sense that not only do they enable a better understanding of the reality of information systems departments of large Irish companies, but also enable the management to focus attention on specific services.

One of the most widely used product developments now is Agile Development Method. In Agile Development there are several frameworks, one of them is Scrum. This research examines the maturity level of software development project management that applies Scrum framework. The research was conducted using quantitative research methodologies using Scrum Maturity Model. Data was collected by distributing questionnaires to employees at a company that works as a Scrum Master. In addition to the data obtained from the questionnaire, interviews were also conducted to confirm answers from respondents. The interview aims to ensure the answers given by respondents are consistent with documentary evidence carried out through the research of project documents. Then the data analysis is done by assessing the level of maturity of each process in the Scrum framework using Agile Maturity Model (AMM) approach. The results from the analysis of Maturity Level Project Management of Software Development are used to provide recommendations for improvement to achieve a higher level of maturity.

The paper proposes a modern scientific and practical approach to improving the performance of enterprises through the use of Agile management. The purpose of the article is to improve the process of managing web projects through the use of agile management mechanisms in the planning and development phase of an IT project. One of the possible promising methods for solving modern management problems is the application of the principles of flexible development methodology. (Agile development). The prerequisites for the emergence of the Agile management concept were identified and a comparative analysis of project management approaches was conducted. The peculiarities of application of different project management methodologies in IT companies are investigated. The characteristics of the positive and negative aspects of the application of alternative approaches to software development are given. The main difference between traditional software development methodology and flexible development methodology is outlined. The basic characteristics of the most used model of agile management - the Scrum model are given. It is determined that within the framework of the Scrum model, the factors of minimizing the risk of failure of individual projects and the entire project portfolio of an organization are: ensuring the balance of the portfolio in its formation; regular monitoring of the portfolio implementation and preventive measures; agreed decision-making on changes to projects, taking into account the interrelation of content, timing and resources with other projects. Changes were recorded in the functional responsibilities of investors, executives, and customers of the software when implementing the flexible methodology. The factors of increase of efficiency of realization of IT-projects are revealed and advantages of correct use of flexible methodology for projects in the field of IT are stated. A further area of research in the field of lean / agile management methodology will be to apply the benefits of these methodological approaches to other areas of the economy.

The importance of information security in software development projects is long recognised, with many comprehensive standards and procedures in use to provide assurance of information security. The agile development paradigm conflicts with traditional security assurance by emphasising the delivery of functional requirements and a reduction in structured and linear development styles. Through a series of thirteen qualitative interviews, this study identifies practices that address this problem which have been successfully adopted by agile practitioners. The findings present four categories of practices - organisational, team, project, and technical - and twelve critical success factors that should be explicitly considered by practitioners to assure agile security. The critical success factors provide a foundation for practitioners to strategically identify and develop best practices to embed information security in agile development projects. The identified categories also highlight the importance of agile security practices centring around individuals and culture and contributes to the literature by providing a representation of agile security practices that encompasses a broad range of focal areas.

This chapter explores the issues and challenges faced in establishing trust among individuals and teams participating in offshore outsourcing of software development projects. While technical and project management aspects have been recognized as important for the success of offshore software outsourcing, the issue of establishing trust among the participants has not received specific recognition. The chapter discusses the special characteristics of offshore software outsourcing relationships which make the establishment of trust a challenge. The discussion emphasizes that a specific and planned approach of utilizing communication and coordination technology in software offshoring relationships will contribute towards trust formation. Use of communication and coordination technology in offshoring environments is recommended to be designed to increase the culture of communication, to establish a culture of transparency in communication, and to systemically maintain a trail and evidence of the communication.
