The main objective of the current study is to develop a business model for service providers of cloud computing which is designed based on circular economy principles and can ensure the sustainable consumption. Background Even though the demand for cloud computing technology is increasing day by day in all over the world, the current the linear economy principles are incapable to ensure society development needs. To consider the benefit of the society and the vendors at the same time, the principles of circular economy can address this issue. An extensive literature review on consumption, sustainable consumption, circular economic, business model, and cloud computing were conducted. the proposed model of Osterwalder, Pigneur and Tucci (2005) is admitted designing the circular business model. The proposed model of the study is the contribution of this study where provides the guidelines for the cloud computing service providers to achieve both their economic profits and the society’ needs. Findings Finding reveals that if the cloud computing service providers design their business model based on the “access” principle of circular economy, they can meet their economic profits and the society’ needs at a same time. In order to solve the trust problems between users and cloud computing service providers in cloud computing services, the existing trust evaluation technology and access control technology in the cloud computing service are analyzed. And the evaluation index of cloud computing is also analyzed. Users can calculate the relevant indicators of cloud computing service according to their own business goals, and choose the appropriate cloud computing services according to their own trust need. In addition, the reliability assessment method of users based on the service process is proposed. Cloud computing access control system can be used for user credibility evaluation, and it can handle user access requests according to user's creditability. In the study, a cloud computing service trust evaluation tool is designed, and the modeling and architecture designs of trust evaluation are also given. The effectiveness of the method is verified by experiments on cloud computing service evaluation methods.

Cloud computing is currently emerging as an ever-changing, growing paradigm that models “everything-as-a-service.” Virtualised physical resources, infrastructure, and applications are supplied by service provisioning in the cloud. The evolution in the adoption of cloud computing is driven by clear and distinct promising features for both cloud users and cloud providers. However, the increasing number of cloud providers and the variety of service offerings have made it difficult for the customers to choose the best services. By employing successful service provisioning, the essential services required by customers, such as agility and availability, pricing, security and trust, and user metrics can be guaranteed by service provisioning. Hence, continuous service provisioning that satisfies the user requirements is a mandatory feature for the cloud user and vitally important in cloud computing service offerings. Therefore, we aim to review the state-of-the-art service provisioning objectives, essential services, topologies, user requirements, necessary metrics, and pricing mechanisms. We synthesize and summarize different provision techniques, approaches, and models through a comprehensive literature review. A thematic taxonomy of cloud service provisioning is presented after the systematic review. Finally, future research directions and open research issues are identified.

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to explain the role of trust in cloud computing services based on empirical evidence from interviewing executives of financial institutions in Ghana. The paper answers the questions: what is the role of trust in cloud computing service acquisition, and what policies promote trusted cloud computing services? Design/methodology/approach – This is an explanatory paper that is based on literature review and empirical data on exploring reasons for cloud computing service acquisitions. A combination of interviews and focus group discussions was used as methods for data collection. Information technology and electronic banking executives of five major commercial banks in Accra, Ghana, between January and July 2013 were interviewed. A total of ten respondents were interviewed, two in each of the selected banks. A purposive sampling technique was used in the selection of informants. This approach allows the selection of qualified informants to ensure extensiveness and diversity of opinion. Findings – Although previous literature proffers various factors as key to cloud computing adoption, uses or provisioning, this study brings trust to the fore as an imperative for cloud computing service acquisition by financial institutions. It also shows that trust increases if users perceive that cloud computing service providers act in honesty and in users’ interest, making trust a fundamental factor that informs financial institutions’ decision to acquire cloud computing services. Research limitations/implications – The research introduces a new dimension about the widely held perceptions of the factors that influence adoption of cloud computing services. Practical implications – Developers of cloud computing solutions that are targeted at corporate users must focus on systems that enhances their trustworthiness, as it is a primary criteria for user buy-in. Similarly, any trust-building effort by cloud computing service providers minimizes users’ concerns and pushes the services providers closer to the trust threshold. Originality/value – The paper outlines the trust factors that are imperative for cloud computing uses by financial institutions. This is one of the pioneering papers that address trust issues in cloud computing from the perspective of financial institutions.

Abstract Background and Purpose: Bringing several opportunities for more effective and efficient IT governance and service exploitation, cloud computing is expected to impact the European and global economies significantly. Market data show that despite many advantages and promised benefits the adoption of cloud computing is not as fast and widespread as foreseen. This situation shows the need for further exploration of the potentials of cloud computing and its implementation on the market. The purpose of this research was to identify individual business model factors with the highest impact on cloud computing adoption. In addition, the aim was to identify the differences in opinion regarding the importance of business model factors on cloud computing adoption according to companies’ previous experiences with cloud computing services. Methodology: Based on literature review, prior research results, and interviews with cloud computing providers and users, a research model was developed. Statistical analysis focused on identification of factors’ importance on cloud computing adoption and differences in opinions according to respondents’ previous experiences with cloud computing services. The study was done among 80 companies and five major cloud computing providers in Slovenia. Results: The research results reveal statistically significant differences in opinions on the importance of cloud computing business model factors according to respondents’ previous experiences with cloud computing services. The results can provide orientation for redesign or innovation of existing business models towards the creation of a customer-oriented business model for the more successful exploitation of cloud computing services and business opportunities. For potential users, the findings represent guidelines for the successful adoption of cloud computing services. Conclusions: In our research, the investigated business model factors could be classified into so-called “business model organizational factors”, as they primarily need to be considered by cloud service providers when defining or innovating their business models. For future research, the model should also include the impact of environmental factors, such as Competition, Business Partners, Legislation, Economic Situation, in order to investigate their impact on cloud adoption.

Cloud computing consumers wish to minimize their costs. Minimization depends on the technological infrastructure operated by providers. Cloud computing services are composed of services organized according to a hierarchy of software services, platforms and infrastructures. Providers offer software services as bundles of services which include software, platform and infrastructures. Bundling prevents customers from splitting their service purchases between different providers. Bundling policy is likely to change in the long run since it contradicts economic competition. This paper assumes that in the future market forces will push providers to act in a free competitive market. The proposed model is aimed at the potential customer who wishes to find the optimal combination of service providers which minimizes his costs. The model suggests two possible strategies for implementation in organizations.

The improved technology of big data and the internet of things (IoT) increases the number of developments in the application of smart city and Industry 4.0. Thus, the need for high-performance cloud computing is increasing. However, the increase in cloud computing service providers causes difficulties in determining the chosen service provider. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to make comparisons to determine the criteria for selecting cloud computing services following the system architecture and services needed to develop IoT and big data applications. We have analyzed several parameters such as technology specifications, model services, data center location, big data service, internet of things, microservices architecture, cloud computing management, and machine learning. We use these parameters to compare several cloud computing service providers. The results present that the parameters able to use as a reference for choosing cloud computing for the implementation of IoT and big data technology.

Cloud Computing provides convenience and comfort to every service. Infrastructure as a Service is one of the cloud computing services that is a choice of several users, it is very important to know the performance of each existing platform in order to get the maximum result according to our needs. In this study, testing 3 platforms of cloud computing service providers are VMWare ESXi, XenServer, and Proxmox, using action research methods. From the results of performance measurements, then analyzed and compared with the minimum and maximum limits. The tested indicators are response time, throughput, and resource-utilization as a comparison of server virtualization performance implementations. In the resource utilization testing when the condition of installing an operating system, CPU usage on the Proxmox platform shows the lowest usage of 10.72%, and the lowest RAM usage of 53.32% also on the Proxmox platform. In the resource test utilization when idle state shows the lowest usage of 5.78% on the Proxmox platform, while the lowest RAM usage is 57.25% on the VMWare ESXi platform. The mean resource utilization tests indicate that the Proxmox platform is better. At the throughput test when the upload measurement of the XenServer platform is better 1.37 MB/s, while the throughput test when the download of the VMWare ESXi platform is better than 1.39 MB/s. On response time testing shows the platform VMWare ESXi as the fastest is 0.180 sec.

ABSTRACT Cloud computing is increasingly popular across all sectors and offers users unparalleled scalability, elasticity, and flexibility. However, the rapid transition toward cloud computing has raised privacy and confidentiality concerns. Cloud service providers can access users' data, and private information may be accidentally or deliberately disclosed or used for unauthorized purposes. Privacy policies are intended to provide users with information about privacy practices and their privacy options. This study performs content analysis of the privacy policies of 47 cloud service providers who offer services to business users. This analysis identifies what information is collected and why, to whom the information is disclosed, and what measures are in place for data security, data retention, and data complaints. Additionally, we investigate the readability, uncertainty language, and linguistic tone of cloud service privacy policies. Our results offer implications for cloud service users, providers, and policymakers, and provide directions for future research. Data Availability: Data are available upon request.


Cloud computing services mature both economically and technologically and play a more and more extensive role in the domain of software and information systems engineering. SaaS offers advantage for both service providers and consumers. SaaS is faced with the question of appropriate techniques applying at early phase of Requirements engineering of producing system. The paper highlights two traditional methods namely i* and VORD belonging respectively to Goal oriented Requirements Engineering and Viewpoints approaches. The approach proposed try to dealing with the requirements elicitation in the context of Software-as-a-service SaaS. So, the approach benefits from strengths of both VORD and i* models and propose a combination of them in a new approach namely VORDi*.
