This paper analyses the conceptual background of the two-year MSc programme in Information Science and Management offered by the Royal School of Librarianship, Denmark, on top of the traditional four-year course in Librarianship. The present state of library and information science (LIS) education is briefly analysed. Within this context, the programme structure and contents are outlined. The conception of information science which forms the background and framework for the programme structure is analysed and discussed. This conception of LIS emphasises a more profound human-driven approach to the domains of the discipline, and views information, technology, people, and the management aspects involved from a global perspective. The anticipated epistemological consequences of the human dimension are challenged. The major experiences gained from developing the Master's programme are analysed and the current syllabus described.

  The study aims to analyses the document of computer and information technology curriculum for the Secondary stage according to Saudi vision 2030. The study applied analytical descriptive approach, the sample of the study was “The Curriculum of Computer and Information Technology "urgent plan" in 2013 for the Secondary stage. The content was analysed using an analysis tool, which constructed based on the strategic objectives of Saudi Vision 2030. It is content of five main themes, divided on 29 sub-goals. Statistical methods were utilized to process data frequencies and percentages. The validity and consistency of the analysis was verified by agreement over time. The study found that, the Curriculum document included most of the strategic objectives of Saudi vision 2030. The highest theme found was fifth theme "strengthening the capacity of the education and training system to meet the requirements of development and the needs of the labour market". Furthermore, the computer curriculum document has neglected/ignore to include four sub-objectives in the curriculum. The most important of which was "considering individual differences and special needs" and "involve parents in the educational process". Finally, some recommendations were proposed for the development of Curriculum document in the light of the study’s results.

Academic libraries and information technology centres are under serious threat due to the increasing pressure to achieve higher level of performance in a competitive global environment. Most of these challenges are as result of information communication technology (ICT) and digital revolution. This chapter discusses the impact of digital revolution on academic libraries and the need to acquire core competencies and new skills to effectively the 21st century academic libraries and information technology centres. Further, the author examines the sets of skills required by Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals to survive in the digital-based environments.

Mobile applications and mobile websites (MAMW) represent information systems that are increasingly being developed by libraries to better serve their patrons. Due to a lack of in-house IT skills and the knowledge necessary to develop MAMW, a majority of libraries are forced to rely on external IT professionals, who may or may not help libraries meet patron needs but instead may deplete libraries’ scarce financial resources. This paper applies a <em>system analysis and design</em> perspective to analyze the experience and advice shared by librarians and IT professionals engaged in developing MAMW. This paper identifies key steps and precautions to take while developing MAMW for libraries. It also advises library and information science (LIS) graduate programs to equip their students with the specific skills and knowledge needed to develop and implement MAMW.
