Different materials are often combined in protective sewing goods. Multifunctional adhesive film material for adhesive joints of protective materials is created. The results of experimental estimate of adhesive joint physic-mechanical properties of materials with heterogeneous properties are represented. Adhesive-bonded joints of goods for personal protection are investigated.

The development of both light and strong wood-derived materials is an interesting research area, particularly in terms of usability in, e.g., furniture constructions. Honeycomb panels being current industry standard are relatively thick (32 mm and 40 mm), thus their attractiveness in designing furniture is limited. In a few studies, it has been shown that honeycomb panels with paper cores are characterized by unsatisfactory mechanical properties, especially when the composite thickness is less than 20 mm. From the literature, it is also evident that mechanical properties might be improved by introducing auxetic features into the core structure. Even though it is a concept with great potential, there are a few studies dealing with honeycomb panels with auxetic cores made of paper. Furthermore, there is no research on the corner joints made from such material. For this reason, the aim of the study was to test the bending behavior of the corner adhesive joints made of honeycomb panels with double arrow-shaped auxetic cores. Within the research, the core cell was adopted based on literature and preliminary studies, paper auxetic cores were produced by the use of the designed and 3d printed device, and joints stiffness and strength were calculated analytically based on the experiment results. Evaluated corner joints stiffness, both in compression and tension test, is greater for samples made of panels with designed auxetic cores. Surprisingly, in the analyzed range of elasticity, it was statistically proved that the values of joint stiffness coefficient K did not vary significantly between compared joints pairs.

The paper presents the static strength of adhesively bonded steel joints aged in deionized water at a temperature of 60°C for 15 days at various adhesive thicknesses from 0.1 mm to 0.5 mm. Water uptake and the bulk adhesive tensile properties after aged in the same environment as the joints were also presented. It has been shown that water diffusion into the adhesive is non Fickian. The absorbed water in the adhesive significantly decreases the mechanical properties and it affects the static strength of the bonded steel joints. The effect of water is shown to be significant when the adhesive thickness is thicker than 0.2 mm as the static strength decreases sharply. This information is useful when designing the adhesive joints using thick adhesive layer exposed in moist environment.

This paper presents issues related to the determination of the selected mechanical properties of adhesive joints made of polymeric pipes and the evaluation of the leak-tightness of the adhesive joints. The article attempts to demonstrate that the type of adhesive may affect the quality of adhesive joints in terms of both tightness and strength of joints. Five types of the polymer pipes differing in a polypropylene and a polyvinyl chloride, diameter and a wall thickness were used in the experiments. Two types of the adhesives were used to make the adhesive joints: Loctite 3430 A&B Hysol, a two-component epoxy adhesive, and Loctite 406, a one-component cyanoacrylate adhesive. Based on the leak-tightness tests results, it was possible to determine the quality of their adhesive joints without damaging the samples, while their tensile strength was determined through the strength tests. The tests performed allowed for the conclusion that the use of the polyvinyl chloride pipes and Loctite 406 one-component adhesive is recommended for this type of adhesive joints.

Adhesive joints are an alternative method of joining elements. New adhesives achieve cohesion and adhesion strength comparable with plastics used for structural components and coatings. Bonding is faster, simpler and cheaper. For this reason, adhesive joints are increasingly replacing other types of connections. Tests show that the material properties in the cast adhesive specimens differ from the ones determined in the joint. Adhesive producers most often describe the strength of the overlap joint tested in accordance with ASTM D1002. Strength, modulus of elasticity and elongation to break tested in accordance with ASTM D638 are reported less frequently. The article presents a method for determining the mechanical properties of the adhesive in a butt joint and differences in the determined values in relation to the cast specimens on the example of methacrylic adhesive Plexus MA300. The tests were carried out for joining aluminium rod with a square cross-section of 15 mm x 15 mm and adhesive layer thickness of approximately 1 mm. The fractures of cast specimens and butt joints were analyzed.
