Objective: To describe the experience of using the realistic clinical simulation by videoconference as a teaching strategy in the mandatory supervised internship in the remote format with students of the 9th period of the undergraduate nursing course of a Higher Education Institution (HEI) located in Araguaína -TO during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methodology: this is a descriptive work of the type of experience report that occurred in July 2020. The proposal was due to the impossibility of face-to-face internships and the need for teacher evaluation of some skills necessary to the profession of nurses. The method was applied in one week including two videoconferences between the students and two actors characterized as patients who simulated the clinical picture of common conditions in hospitals in the region where the HEI is located. Results and Discussion: The strategy that was used as a proposal in place of the face-to-face internship proved satisfactory, because, in addition to causing an impact and deep involvement of the students with the activity, stimulated the mobilization of several competencies developed throughout the course rescuing knowledge, skills and attitudes that could be evaluated during the internship period making possible the continuity of the academic activities of the Nursing Course. Final considerations: The teaching method resulted in an excellent strategy in the current situation of the pandemic in which the student can develop a significant learning under teacher mediation from the staging of a real situation with the purpose of applying to the future reality in the world of work.

Abstract Active methodologies have been widely used in education to provide greater involvement in the teaching-learning process. In the face of the current pandemic scenario, remote activities are strategies to spread knowledge but require adaptations of face-to-face education. However, no records were found of its use to support research groups, which traditionally are based on personal contacts. The article reports the experience of selecting participants in the development of research in the area of starch prospecting, with an adaptation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) technique. The proposed problem was the characterization and evaluation of cassava starch for food industries application, using a sample limited to one gram. The PBL technique used research with a qualitative approach, applied nature, descriptive objective, and action research procedures. The five members that constituted the discussion group were from different professional areas and were selected among those who made up a larger group, with starch as the central theme. The PBL technique was adapted to be completed in three videoconference meetings, with intervals of 15 days. Based on the suggestions proposed and improved during the event, it was possible to outline the solution right at the first meeting. An analytical methodology can also be established within the specified limit, capable of prospecting its food industries application. Therefore, PBL as a strategic tool to develop research topics proved effective and flexible, and suitable for remote activities. It is recommended that it be better explored as a team leader and scientific research growth.

In studies on mobile communication, a topic that has been of particular interest is the impact of increased adoption and use of mobile devices in everyday activities and in the context of interpersonal relationships. However, the ease of accessing digital content and connecting to people physically distant through the recent mobile communication technologies has shown barriers and opportunities in human interaction. Based on the theoretical approaches on identity and relational artifacts grounded in mobility and absent presence concepts, this paper describes some aspects among young people in Brazil in relation to the “phubbing” phenomenon. The term was coined to describe the act of ignoring someone due to the use of a smartphone. The results indicated effects on the level of attention and interaction, regarding not only the content of smartphone, but also the social protocol and the face-to-face communication.

This study’s aim is to find out student’s perspectives on online and face-to-face problem-based learning approaches. The study was conducted at the Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technologies, Faculty of Education, Hacettepe University. Participants were 42 freshman students attending the department during fall of 2006-2007. These students were put into two groups—the online problem-based learning group and the face-to-face problem-based learning group. The research was conducted on Mathematics-I while implementing the topic of ‘derivation’. The content analysis statistical technique is used, as well as a questionnaire consisting of open-ended questions, which perform as a data collection tool to find out the views of the students in context to the process.

Results: The analysis of the participants' testimonies allowed the elaboration of two concrete categories of the experience lived concerning the reasons "why": Sum of learning lived by the sick and those who care also learn. Conclusion: The importance of the perspectives of chronic kidney patients and their caregivers for the design of educational actions stands out in the face-to-face interaction, in the shared approach and the approximation of the nurse

This paper discusses pre-service teachers’ use of multi-modal tools to produce three-minute films in light of critical moments in their teaching practice. Two cases are considered; each centers on a film, a “little epic” that was produced by a future teacher who attempts to work within an anti-racist framework for social justice. Findings point to how multimodal tools are effective for engaging meaningfully with unresolved conflicts. However, in the face of trauma experienced, the future teachers’ efforts to work within a social justice framework may be pushed to the margins. This pedagogy / research sheds light on the workings of the inner landscape of becoming teachers, and highlights the dynamic of education as a psychic crisis compounded by the demands of the social.
