The statistics forecast that the production of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles worldwide in 2016 was about 485 billion, and the same in 2021, has been approximately 583 billion. Although such productions in many countries have the ear of prominent political and social leaders, high production rates still reign the global market. In parallel, revered scientists globally conflate plausible and incontrovertible medical canons against the use of PET bottles for the protection of public health. Nevertheless, unwashed masses worldwide dislodge or disparage such public health doctrine but face a myriad of health hazards. For many years, mainly beneath the public’s ignorance, the solid collective rhetoric expressed by PET-bottle manufacturing companies has not let such medical dogma take hold in the society, instead purposefully manipulated the market with conflating pure baloneys or fallacies.

To The Editor.— I'm writing to you to express my extreme disappointment at the publication of the commentary titled "Baby Bottoms and Environmental Conundrums: Disposable Diapers and the Pediatrician" that appeared in the August 1991 issue of Pediatrics.1 Public Health Issue About Diaper Disposal. The authors have treated briefly the issue of public health and diaper disposal.1,p387 The reader is left with a perception that discarded diapers pose public health hazards. While the issue of public health and the disposal of diapers and other solid wastes is important, it is treated neither adequately nor fairly in this commentary.

Purpose – This article aims to explore the impact of supply chain integration on the financial performance of Swedish manufacturing firms. Design/methodology/approach – The literature review provided the foundation for the development of the survey instrument and hypotheses for the study. In addition, the survey instrument was tested by the experts in the field and modified before it was sent to the managers in the survey group. Findings – The findings show that supply chain integration at any level is beneficial to the financial well being of the firm. Companies with total supply chain integration reported the highest level of financial performance. Research limitations/implications – Data were collected from Swedish manufacturing firms without regard to the size of the firm. The results show that supply chain integration is beneficial at any level. Practical implications – The findings will assist managers with decisions regarding supply chain integration and its role as a critical factor in improving the financial performance of manufacturing companies. Originality/value – Limited empirical studies have been conducted in this area, especially in Sweden. This study provides insight for manufacturing managers with regard to the importance of supply chain management and the competitive nature of business in the global market.

This chapter provides a narrative that explains the politics of access (distribution, utilization, outcomes) as well as the context in which health inequalities are produced in India. While fields such as medical sociology, medical anthropology, health economics, community health, social medicine, epidemiology, and public health, among others, with their own theories, methods, and approaches are able to contribute distinctive dimensions, it becomes essential to engage across the boundaries in a collective manner to understand the complexity of health care that is increasingly shaped by the global market forces and ideologies. This volume thus opens up the possibility of constructing a new paradigm for understanding health sector as well as signalling a new field ‘health care studies’.

In the competitive global market, innovation is vital to a firm’s longevity. To this end, organisations seek new and alternative ways to motivate employee innovation. This study examines the role of servant leadership as an antecedent to innovation. Drawing on the social identity model, this study examines the effect of servant leadership, team-member exchange (TMX) and perceived insider status on employee innovative behaviour. Primary data were collected from six manufacturing companies in Ghana. Using a sample of 213 employees and their immediate supervisors, a confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to test the discriminant validity of our measurement model. Hierarchical multiple regression was then used to determine direct and interaction effects, followed by bootstrapping tests to identify mediation and moderated mediation effects. The results showed that servant leadership and TMX are significantly related to perceived insider status. The bootstrapping indirect test and Sobel test demonstrated that perceived insider status mediates the relationship between servant leadership and innovative work behaviour. Moreover, the mediated relationship is only significant when TMX is low. This study empirically validated servant leadership as an antecedent to employee innovative behaviour. The findings demonstrated that perceived insider status is a mediating mechanism in this relationship, with TMX as its boundary condition.

Rotor spinning is known for high production rates and uniformity of the resulting yarn. However, determining machine components which will produce the optimum process parameters such as airflow speed to result in the best combinations of yarn quality and uniformity can be a difficult task. The aim of this study is to simulate and analyze the airflow characteristics in rotors with U and V grooves during the rotor spinning process. The results obtained showed that airflow speed resulting from a rotor with the V groove is higher than that of U type. As a result, the static pressure resulting from the use of the V type groove is lower than that of U groove.
