Sacred groves are the fairly well-protected system of community-based conservation of tree patches on account of their association with village gods, and repository of many rare and threatened elements of biodiversity. There are, however, few publications on lichens of sacred groves. The lichens have long been regarded as sensitive indicators for monitoring environmental state. The present study reports one hundred and sixteen species of lichens from forty-four genera of nineteen families in four selected sacred groves of Paschim Medinipur district, West Bengal. These lichens represent two different growth forms, i.e. crustose (105 species) and foliose (11 species). Shorea robusta, a dominant tree species in two sacred groves bears the highest lichen diversity with seventy-four species. To better understand the related biodiversity and climate, this work is likely to promote further studies on lichen diversity in other regions of West Bengal.

Protective technology is one of most effective technologies for regional gas control technology. Huainan Coal Field is a typical coal field with deep and low permeability multi coal-seams, and it is one of most serious coal field in gas disasters. Currently, Huainan Coal Field has completely entered the stage of extracting Group B coal-seams (average mining depth is about 650m). In order to research and obtain the results of stress relief of adjacent coal-seams after extracted protective coal-seam, taking advantage of the method of similar materials simulation test and taking 11415 longwall panel of Group B coal-seams of Panyi Coal Mine of Huainan Coal Field, the changing trends of abutment pressure, displacement as well as permeability of adjacent coal-seams are systematically studied. The researching results can provide safeguard for high-effective gas drainage, eliminate the risk of coal and gas outburst as well as high effective production.

The presence of birds is important to verify ecological condition in cities since they respond well to the availability of habitat structure.  This study aims at investigating park structures which influence bird species diversity in Putrajaya.  The studied areas consist of six metropolitan parks.  Vegetation structure and bird species data were collected through distance sampling method.  Evaluations of overall 12 points were carried out to be mapped in the Standard Computer-aided Design (CAD) software.  The results reveal that park with higher density vegetation supports higher habitat variables including food, foraging substrate and nesting site for birds to survive in Putrajaya.
