This research has been planned to identify the factors related to the assessment of “The Leadership Orientations” of the students receiving sports education (physical education and sports teacher, sports management, recreation, trainer education departments) in the universities in Turkey. This descriptive study has a population consisting of the students receiving sports education in the universities in Turkey and a sample of totally 1032 students (N: 1032) (who attend physical education and sports teacher, sports management, recreation, trainer education departments). The data has been collected using The Student Information Form and the Leadership Orientation Survey. According to the means of sub-scales of “Leadership Orientations by Sexes” obtained by the students receiving sports education, a significant difference has been identified between the frames of “Transformational Leadership” and “Charismatic Leadership”. This difference can be explained by the fact that male students consider themselves more competent compared to the female students in these two sub-scales. Consequently, when the mean points of the sub-scales of the Leadership Orientation Survey [Self] obtained by the students receiving sports education in Turkey are compared, it has been observed that the direction and strength of relation between sex, class, department and school is “positive” and “moderate” and also those students have “people-oriented leadership” characteristics among the sub-scales of the leadership orientation frames.

Abstract The foundations of modern physical education in Turkey have been defined using arrangements of European countries. In general, it has been determined that European standards are taken into account as criteria when physical education is generally assessed. The evaluation of this development should also be made with scientific studies. It cannot be said that the researches carried out by the comparative research method are not sufficient; besides, many studies are carried out in different fields of physical education in Turkey. In this research the current status of physical education has been analyzed through comparative research methodology. Core aims of the study include assessing the value of PE to learners and the community; finding out and comparing teaching modules and approaches; comparing material environment around teaching PE; defining the modern trends in physical education development. Data have been collected by means of document analysis. Curriculum reform carried out in 2013 in Turkey was accepted as the start for the conducting of the document analysis. As a result, it must be accepted that Europe is an established physical education course culture. Turkey has been carrying out the reforms in recent years to create this culture. Europe has a strong heritage in terms of physical education while Turkey has increased its efforts in recent years to build this heritage. It has been revealed that the new physical education course content has been used in Turkey since 2004. Physical education and sports programs are designed on two basic areas of learning and development: mobility competence and active and healthy living. The basic structure of the physical education lesson teaching plan is based on the principles of physical, mental, individual, emotional and social skills, taking into account the environmental conditions and prevalence of providing physical activity and participation of students in sports.

In the 21st century, science and technology have led to so many negative situations as well as positive developments for humanity. These negativities also affect human beings in a very intense way and in a natural result of this, people affect other’s livings negatively. The general belief that the decelerating the events, actions and moral corruptions which lead to missing the peace of communities and the abolition of this negative situation will be ensured only by the development of the values which the individual possesses. Also states are taking precautions and making plans for this issue. So, value education in many countries has recorded a rapid acceleration in recent years. In Turkey, there are also some sections which have theoretical course curriculum and some scientific activities about values. However, it is considered that development in value and value education concepts are not enough and the applied courses such as physical education and sports, which aim to improve the individual as a whole, do not take place as much as within the scope of value education. For this reason, it is aimed to establish a point of view in the light of the works done in the Turkish science literature and the activities carried out by the related stakeholders for value education. Research was prepared as a document analysis form. Resources related to the physical education and value education in Turkey were collected and general evaluations were made through the obtained data and finally some suggestions were made.
